  1. Sine 1.1 is out now, I am unstickifying this thread...
  2. Well, don't worry about manual activation if your PC is online but just so you know, the authorization request code is something you generate yourself. Anyway, there are two reasons why a key may not work... 1) you are entering it incorrectly (typo) 2) you are trying to activate the wrong game. Example: you bought CMBN and the Commonwealth module. Now you are trying to use the module key to activate the base game. This won't work, you will have to install the module first. Martin
  3. Authorization code and license key (or serial or activation code) are not the same things. You only need an authorization code when doing a manual activation. Check the Knowledgebase at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk for details on how the Online Activation system works.
  4. Too much CM and SC related stuff going on, no one has time for nonsense babble
  5. Both options eventually (first from us directly, though)
  6. You can delete the base game, but you need to have an active license for it in order to play the Gold expansion (your license state survives deleting/uninstalling).
  7. We're just getting started John, if you got an iPhone, your wish may come true sooner than you think... iPhone support is planned for CMTouch 1.2 I believe (1.1 is still pending approval by Apple...) Martin Martin
  8. Yeah, your license key never expires. That's why it's a purchase and not renting. We waive the $5 fee usually if your download expired recently (going back even a few weeks if needed). However, the $5 fee is meant to offset our bandwidth cost. If we don't charge it, then there isn't much point in having a download period that expires in the first place. The misunderstanding perhaps comes from the fact that some other storefronts are in fact offering "online renting" and selling it to people as game purchases, while we do not. The download is merely another form of delivery, and just like mail delivery doesn't keep sending you the same game each time you want to play it, so downloads are basically only meant to be used once. Playing the game is not tied to anything online at all, which again is a difference with online multiplayer clubs.
  9. Sbua, you are not renting the game, you are buying it to keep. After downloading it, installing and activating, it will never expire. What you are not purchasing though is unlimited digital storage of the game. We do not offer infinite storage. We are not an online gaming club like some other digital storefronts - you buy the game from us, not an online service. And, also unlike other storefronts, your purchase is not tied to any online account, doesn't require you to be online to play or anything of that sort. So if you want to keep the game and install on a new PC, you should either go for the "download&mail" option (which gives you a disc by mail), or make a backup of the setup file after downloading. You can even store the setup files online with one of those digital space services etc. Having said that... For customers who lost their backup or never made one in the first place, we do offer a re-download. It's 5 bucks, and will give you another 365 day period to download again. But really, as mentioned above, you should download once and backup the file, and you're all set.
  10. Note that the infantry guys are out of contact. This influences how quickly you, the player, get info from them.
  11. Hi MrVandal, thanks for your feedback. Reading between the lines, it seems like you really like the game, yes? Icons for playback are part of the 1.1 upgrade that is being tested right now, and so are some changes to multiplayer, performance, and a whole range of other things raised here and via the in-game feedback. Hopefully we'll have the update (it'll be free of course) ready within a few days. It will have to go through Apple approval first, though. As for docs.. a Wiki sounds like a good idea! Martin
  12. We imported users from our old UBB board to the current VB board, and 1969 was the default "last visited" date. If you didn't visit the board since about 2007, then this is what you get. Martin
  13. ...AND it plays one of the hits twice (from different points of view).
  14. Tap the little "lock" button on top of the screen after selecting a unit, Grrrunt.
  15. Thanks for posting. We'll add this to our Knowledgebase at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk as well, it may help some people.
  16. Since most of the current CMT battles are much shorter, the artillery calling times had to be shortened as well, or you would never get arty. You can rationalize this if you like as the game basically assuming prepared barrages on stand-by (aka target points).
  17. Most people vastly underestimate what is going on under the hood in CM, and how different it is from what happens in the typical FPS or RTS. CM is a simulation, using physics and algorithms to simulate outcomes on a vast battlefield, all going on at the same time. You can't fudge this like you can in most FPS or RTS, which simplify anything that isn't in your immediate view usually. That makes for some great graphics and gives the impression of bigger distances and events than what is really going on. CM doesn't have that luxury, not unless we begin watering down the sim aspect of the game (and we don't want that). And once you grasp that, then the second thing most people forget is that as you increase your calculations and fidelity in a 3 dimensional space, the requirements do not simply double with the distance, but increase exponentially (in fact, they increase even more since we're taking into account different elevations, too) CMTouch is somewhat simplified from CMBN in the simulation department, but not as much as you may think. It is still a true war simulation, not just an RTS clickfest, and tracks ballistics and other algorithms. If anything it is amazing that Clay and team managed to get this to run on the iPads at all (and I know that they had to combat a lot of OOM errors in the process). Martin
  18. Right now the way to do this is to place a waypoint (anywhere, really) and then immediately click on the STOP button. A little bit of a clutch and perhaps not immediately clear, but it works well and with just one extra tap over an Undo button (which would have added clutter to the interface).
  19. True. But you said yourself, you went in with expectations different than that.
  20. I will let Clay respond to that as I don't know the technical details. What I do know is that 1.1 which is in the works will provide some performance improvements, some multiplayer changes. Maybe some other stuff, not sure. Clay should be posting more info about this later tonight or tomorrow. The only firm roadmap we have is that, just like the desktop series, CMTouch will be expanded and improved over time. We're in this for the long haul, as usual.
  21. That's probably the problem right there. Now if those expectations are realistic, compared to what else is out there, is another question Martin
  22. Thanks for your feedback, Harv. It's going to take several more new iPads by Apple before we will be able to play a copy of CMBN in it. We're pushing the envelope with CMTouch as is (and will keep pushing with future updates). You are listing quite a few important Pro's in your post for not having liked it "at all"... Martin
