panzermartin
Just thinking it would be cool to have an autnomous force fighting on your side since scripts for AI are already there. Would be great for immersion and different type of missions (escort etc) or just to give you a sense of a greater, more lively battlefield where things can evolve outside your god like control. Sometimes it feels a bit lonely out there Their role could be vastly varied from doing recon for your force to being the main force on the map and you providing the support fire. I know victory conditions would be messed up ( AI sending precious tanks to the same ATGM field of fire) but maybe these should not affect the player's score. Just a thought..
Boche
wouldnt be really feasable in most cases, since the AI in this game is 99.9% scripted. you couldnt have an AI that would work with your plans. but yeah if it could be done it would be great
Battlefront.com
This is something that will come along with CoPlay. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen for quite a while. The amount of time it will take to do this right is... well... not small Steve

I guessed multi-multi has a lot to do with this but thought maybe it is simpler to just put some ai scripts on the human side. But better to do it right with a proper interface and a chance to interfere with the ai forces instead of playing alongside a ghost force.
SlapHappy
You can achieve something at least similar to this using baked scenarios, though, right?
MikeyD
Yeh, baked scenario are good for a mild chuckle once or twice. I notice CM:Afghanistan no longer supports Baked scenarios. I just now double-check to make sure.
panzermartin
Really? You can have units out of your control on your side? I swear I havent played a scenario with something like that.
MarkEzra
In the end Baked Scen proved... well... half-baked
SlapHappy
Basically, baked scenarios allow you to preprogram units ON EITHER SIDE with the ability to carry out orders without your intervention from the beginning of a scenario. I was able to create a simple convoy group that would follow a road system under it's own programming. Honestly, very tedious to get the units to do exactly what you want and you lose all ability to edit the final baked scenario. I wouldn't say the feature itself is totally with merit, however. Or maybe I just like the idea of the feature more than it's actual usefulness.
SlapHappy
BTW, isn't Ranger Run a baked scenario? I think that's what it was called.
Field Marshal Blücher
BTW, isn't Ranger Run a baked scenario? I think that's what it was called. Yup! It definitely is.
Wodin
Are we alive long enough for Battlefront to do all in it's todo list??? I doubt it...
Battlefront.com
Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear it is at least on some kind of to do list. I guessed multi-multi has a lot to do with this but thought maybe it is simpler to just put some ai scripts on the human side. Oh, that's a piece of cake. The problem is without Human player interaction with the scripts it's not very useful. At least most of the time in most situations. Just imagine that the company on the left of your force is tying down the enemy's amor as you rush out into the open. Then, without any warning, they pack up and move off to do something else. Sure, sure... in real life this happens from time to time, but in a planned attack it would be the extreme exception. The sort of exception that books would be written about and Congressional Hearings would be called to examine. So having that be the norm would be... not very realistic. Not to mention it would suck to play Steve
