franz
Battlefront.com has my permission to take ANOTHER couple of weeks to further improve the game. Just give us something that is realistic, time is not the most important factor.
Chad44
Yeh there's no need to rush the game out anyways.
track
Been looking at the pictures of the Russian site. There seems not be any machine gun teams either. No MMGs or HMGs?
track
More notes. - No French 25mm AT gun. They get 75mm howizer instead for anti-tank duties? - No 40mm British AT-gun. What about off-map artillery support?

Seems an important feature to me.

Redwolf
So, it has area fire but no LOS tool? So you can plot fire to an area with no indication that the area is not visible and then the tank sits around doing nothing?
haido
Wow, this game that i've been hyping about when it just was named WW2:RTS seems to be turning out ****. Hope BFC can work some really good magic otherwise No buy! MR! No buy!
Sivodsi
"We don't need it do we? It's fake that's what it be to 'ya, dig me? Don't believe the hype..." - Public Enemy (But D-D-D-Do try the demo before buying...)
Daimyo
The LOS thing is a bit frustrating. If there's no LOS after ordering the tank to fire at a target, it moves about 10 meters towards it, stops, checks if there's LOS and then again moves 10 meters. This continues until it finally can see the target. But then sometimes the tank starts making strange manoeuvres, so usually after the first shot I order my tanks to Hold position. Daimyo
Here's an example, sorry for the slow framerate: I can make more videos, just tell me what you want to see in them.

track
Heavy machine gun teams? - Are there any in the game? Or are they just squad based light machine guns? - Off-map artillery support? (Artillery/mortars/rockets firing inderect support)
Daimyo
You're welcome Rollstoy. No mobile HMG teams. You can sometimes order HMG before the mission if it's defensive, but in the whole german campaign I've now completed if i remember right I came across only 1 HMG and that was american 12.7 mm in Ardennes mission. As you can see in the following video you can't move it. Artillery is just guns, no mortars or rockets (yet). In fact you have some on map artillery, like Brummbar, Wespe, Hummel, american 105 mm from the video, etc.
franz
Daimyo, again praise to you for posting interesting comments and pics to keep us going until the game is released. Great idea to post stuff on Youtube. Please anyone else put some clips on Youtube. To summarise Daimyo, do you think this game is going to satisfy us Combat Mission junkies ? Redwolf
Thanks for the movies, everybody. Looks like sound and graphics are great. Who cares about supersonic Jagdtigers?
Daimyo
Originally posted by franz: To summarise Daimyo, do you think this game is going to satisfy us Combat Mission junkies ? Well, I can only speak about the russian version and the answer would be "no". I can only name a few advantages of this game: good graphics and sound, many vehicles, I would say many missions and I guess the gameplay is immersing. However there are too much minuses: unrealistic penetration ranges and accuracy, unrealistic speeds, problems with LOS, AI is not great, not too much things you can do with tanks to name a few. I think and hope many of these things can be fixed in BFC version, but TOW won't be able to match CM when it comes to number of actions units can do. Elmar Bijlsma
Wasn't ToW supposed to appeal more to CC fans then CM fans? And with Battlefront providing guidance, God forbid, it might appeal to both! Or fans of both, like me.
Shabe.
Daymio, thanks for your comments on the game. I have few questions - you sed that once your starting force gets wacked you get new forces and better tanks and once the second is wacked, then comes third with even more advanced tanks. So can you get these reinforcements without haveing to sacrafice your poor troops? Also i see from the screenshots that both sides manpower losses are ~100, but there are hardly more than 30 alive grunts at any time. Did you played with more infantry and how the game handless then, any slowdowns?
Darryl60
Quit treating this like it is a new generation CM and treat it for what it is: A WW2 RTS. The more you want it to be like CM,the more you are going to be dissapointed. Compare it to CC,compare it to Blitzkreig, just don't try to compare it to CM. Sergei
But the REAL question is, how will it compare with C&C: Theater of War? And then of course there is the 3D real time strategy "Theatre of War" by Three-Sixty:
