Gotta say, looking at all those shots doesn't help to ease my growing crave for the game. smile.gif

Maybe an irrelevent detail, but did you notice all the wires on this pic ? There are electrical lines litterally everywhere.

Iraq street

I wonder if this affects military operations at all, but it sure looks like they can get all over the place mighty easily. At the very least, it fully justifies the wire cutter seen in Michael LAV pic.

Canadian Armored Vehicle pic

Cheers.

A simple counter measure for a wire strung over a street at a height of about where a xcommander's neck would be if he was head out of the turret!!

...nomex gloves...

That reminds me. I've been wanting to ask someone...It seems like most of the pictures I see of the guys in Iraq have them wearing gloves and I've been wondering about that. What is the reason behind the glove wearing? In prior wars of the last hundred years I only recall soldiers wearing gloves if it was cold or for some special reason, like they were in the horse cavalry. So what's the story here? Seems to me that gloves would make your hands more clumsy for small tasks, like loading clips for instance. Are they at heightened risk to receive cuts, abrasions, or burns on the hands?

You need to remove the backslash on that address, akd.

I'm wondering if that hole is big enough to allow the bullet to pass though and still allow a sight picture.

LOL!

:D

Hmm...so are those all electrical lines? My first reaction was that they were guidance cables from ATGW but obviously those are much thinner.

Is that just poor urban planning or is this a result of combat some how?

Servicemen have been "personalising" their stuff since year dot. RN didn't even bother with uniforms until 1860's ISTR, and that was to keep Prince Albert happy.

As a matter of interest, what is the tax situation of US troops stationed in Iraq? Do you count as being overseas for tax purposes? And can you claim back gear you buy on tax as work related expenses? If not, why not? With all the reservists, there must be some CPA's to ask...

Tell Jizzmonkey that. I would be afraid to. ;) For reference, his caption reads: "This is what a 50 cal armor piercing round will do to a wall."

Here's one more:

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but since you mentioned this, it reminded me of an insurgent sniper nicknamed Juba. Is there actually such an individual? </font>
