track
I know this won't be discussed in detail for a while, but since some input was wanted also for this subject here goes -> My rough guess is 101st Airborne in Normandy or defending Bastogne 1944. Similar small unit scale. Hope they include an Axis campaign too at some point. Although a limited subject means a lot less of vehicle and weapon variants.
gunnergoz
Not enough armor on the US side; yes, there was some there, but it was scattered in penny packets. Also, not enough opportunity for US counterattacks. Now lets talk about an action a bit farther away, but still in the same general campaign...like Celles. That might work.
ParaBellum
Another WW2-Game featuring the 101st and I'll kill my kitten. Uhm, my neighbour's kitten.
Sergei
Bastogne? Way overdone, they have more imagination than that! I predict it will be Combat Mission: A Bridge Too Far.
Andreas
It's going to be a near future WW2 game, set in 1947. The Swiss government has been overthrown by Nazi fundamentalists, and the Allies are called on to restore order and, errr, protect the gold reserves. You are Major Kelly in command of a heroic US armoured infantry battalion and your mission is to deal with the Tiger tanks in the village, or sumfink. It's going to be called CM:KH (Kill Hitler). The other possible title is copy-right protected. All the best Andreas
General Bolt
Followed by CM:OC Combat Mission: KT (Kill Tojo). The premise being: the atom bomb developers failed and the US must invade Japan (Operation Coronet). I read a fiction "What if" book like this once. Can't remember the name.

Gen Von Television
Now, seriously, what about Patton's 3rd Army campaign? It includes the 101st after Bastogne or in-betwix as well: and you can have a scenario on the conquest of Goering wines' cellar in the eagle nest too; the screamin' eagles have to beat in the race French, US Army and any allied-you-think-of forces, and survive the alchoolic flood...
Dogface
St. Lo. No 101st and it has Urban and not so urban settings. Attacks by the US forces and counter attacks by the Germans.
Zalgiris 1410
LOL, but I know it'll be CM:EO set late May 45, Easy Company on occupation duties and sooo US centric that there won't even be any German POWs.
gunnergoz
So---nobody's heard of Celles? 2nd US Armored vs 2nd Panzer Division? Tanks, tanks, tanks...oh and did I mention tanks, halftracks, SP artillery, etc, etc? I think that one would, er, rock.

If so, it's an excellent book and fertile material for scenario design.
Titan
How About the battle of the Rhur, now that has'nt been covered and both sides had a good range of units and armour
gunnergoz
Michael- I think he was writing about 2AD in the Normandy breakout...a book I want to buy myself. AFAIK no one has written only about Celles, though it is mentioned in numerous books about the Bulge battles. If I had time to write myself...(sighs)

Affentitten
Apart from the ETO red herring, I would say The Battle of Brisbane would be perfect. Urban setting, tons of US troops, no expensive translation of voice wmv's, potential for blue on blue.....
Zalgiris 1410
Hehe Affentitten but no I don't think it'll be CM:- 'The Battle of Brisbane', might just be too exciting for CMx2, someone might get hurt! (Or in the words of a mad readhead have to spit blood!)

Might finally get to use those 155mm SPAs direct firing. Ka-boom! (That's the one that had the German general complaining that the Americans didn't fight fair.)
