Fireball
I am wondering why nobody is talking about the information on gameswelt.de that SC2 will come in December. http://gameswelt.de/pc/news/detail.php?item_id=53178 Is this true??? Blashy
December 2005 has been the intended release date for a year now, at least from what I've read.

J P Wagner
Well if the release date is so soon, will SC2 be available through Digital Download?
Moon
No digital download. We're actually going into print/production sometime in November. You guys know the drill by now... Martin
J P Wagner
No problem with that, but I thought I would ask since you have introduced this option on some releases. I thought the Drill instructions might have changed....

rleete
WOOT! Moon, any idea what the price is gonna be? Oh hell, doesn't matter. Just take my credit card now...
Fubarno
At that site it says SC2 will be sold in shops for about 45 Euro's, equivalent to around $54 US. That's quite an increase from SC1's $25 US. When will BATTLEFRONT make some official announcements?
AZGungHo
From the FAQ page of SC2: How much will SC2 cost? The price isn’t decided yet, but most likely somewhere in the range of $35-$45. There ya go!
Liam
You guys should put this puppy for Download. The Write Protection is I know the worry most have. sabre7
Will there be a demo released same time pre-orders start? or will the demo come out after the release of the game?
Moon
We're planning to have a demo ready around the time that the game ships (i.e. not when pre-orders start, which is soon...) Martin
Gavrok
ah....the long wait seems to be ending soon. Got a little worried when the testers did not mention an AI in their testing.....and so the AARs were a little frustrating as they showed a great looking game but hinted at far more work being required. Sure you'll have a long list of pre-orders. Hope there will be the facility immediately for everyone in Europe to also join in the rush for a new copy. One thought on the CD release. Can any protection allow for head to head LAN play ..with one copy being a cloned 'lite' version as per Starcraft/ T Annilation. This would allow people to play multiplayer at home with 2 computers....perhaps have CD check on one machine? Used this fully on both the above games........would not want this function on-line for obvious reasons
J P Wagner
You bring up a good point regarding the AI Gavrok as I wondered the same thing...since the AI was not ready for Blashy's AAR, what is its' current development status?
Edwin P.
HC's last post re: AI said: Soon It will be interesting to see how HC implements it in this game. Some games like AOE and Civ and GalCiv have different AI personalities with varying levels of aggresive action and research/production priorities. Others have a single AI that makes choices based on the situation. Example: Civ4 has a personality that is overly passive and another that is overly aggressive. In SC2 terms this might be a Defensive oriented Russian AI that tends to retreat and hold the line until the Allies land in the west and an Aggressive Russian AI prone to aggressive counterattacks. I would like to see; At least 4 Russian AI personalities for; a. Prewar Build & Research Stratgies - ie Blashy's Tank Strategy, Corps Strategy, etc. b. Operational Strategy - Forward Defense, Fighting Withdrawal, Offensive, etc. c. War Strategy - Defense in East until D-Day in West, Conquer Finland, etc. By combining these in random and having the AI track which is the most successfull (and being more likely to select the most successful personalities) you will have a most unpredictable opponent in the East. Doesn't it make some sense to wait until AFTER game features are implemented and stable before implementing an AI? Also, bear in mind that SC2 builds upon a lot of good stuff that already works in SC1, so it's not like the AI code is starting from scratch. The problem is, pay the man for his work and allow him to work on another cool thing. He has to eat, drink, to have a house, a BMW or whatever makes him happy - he's happy, he'll work for SC3 and we'll spend countless hours in off or online quality entertainment. Simple as that.
