  1. Thought I was reasonably OK at this game through PBEM and got a nasty shock in my first TCPIP game.....pulled off a win but PLENTY of basic errors by me against someone new to the game Would love to get my experience up on this. Anyone fancy a game around 2000hrs UK time tonight. Can generally play UK evenings most nights and willing to move between this PBEM if needed. Look forward to hearing from someone here or on ICQ (235371190) Word or warning for anyone too experienced.....will be asking questions as I play Thanks G
  2. Surprise needs fixing for ports. I believe that if you move next to an unseen unit in port and are surprised by it the port defence is not included for the defender. Best way to kill a fleeing ship is to get surprised by it the turn after it flees.
  3. Hubert If attack/ defence numbers can only be integers what about doubling each attack/ defence value and making the tech up steps only 1. This may capture the same effect that you like. Gues the current attack/ defence formulas may then need examination......then more follow on effects would impact Probably being naieve here with this solution Thanks G
  4. Ate the French too fragile now with Winter amendments. Playing 2 games at the mo whereby Benelux was taken in turn 2. This then resulted in quick French defeats Dec 39. I probably need to perhaps practice a few French defences to determine suitable counter but was wondering if others have seen the same effect....ie French crumbing quicker than previous versions G
  5. Looking for a game tonight (European UK time?) Starting about 8pm tonight Am a relative newby looking for a mix of tcpip and pbem will check my icq or my email 235-371-190 gavin.colgan@blueyonder.co.uk Hopefully see someone in there Bye G
  6. Totally agree with the last point...have flagged before that I believe the issue with amphib landings could have been dealt with easier if when calculating landing losses the variance in fleet (and air units) should have a large impact....within a certain range (5-6 moves) This would make it imperative for axis to force RN to retreat or fight it. Do not believe an amphib landing was possible against even naval parity in ww2...look at Guadalcanal with the risks the Japanese took to reinforce...unsuccessfully....and this wasn't even amphib assault G
  7. In tcpip games have noticed that the time limits are fine during the early part of the war but a struggle later on.....an option to adjust these during the game with the consent of both sides would be great... an other alternative would be to allow the non-phasing player to conduct passive actions such as checking research, diplomacy and even pre-building units for the start of his turn
  8. I got 3 f french naval units in my game....gotta say it was crucial in keeping allied naval superiority (equality in med)...are these 20% as well Yours lucky G
  9. Why does Vichy remain post France liberation....cannot envisage allies having to declare war on vichy to enter.....at least when all german units are removed from France G
  10. that means german intel is worth far more than allied intel as it impacts more countries... immediately think this is a potent tool if axis go down this route.. cant see how allies benefit from this as they have to expend far more to remain in race
  11. Does Intel give Germans an advantage...ie all allies have to match German tech so as not be disadvatnaged, so eg USA/ UK and Russia must all get chits in this. However re Germans as long as one allied is underpowered they have a chance to get! Seems ludicrous that outnumbering opponenet means you are at science disadvantage G
  12. hope soft buils ignore any pt development in the patch as i agree with blashy re manpower limits. PT negates this effect so if you want these units you should really pay for 'em still dont get the sealion restrictions......but make amphib assaults harder...the germans could not do them in 1940 period.....look how long dieppe took to plan and cock up....never mind d-day G
  13. On amphib I think the following solution would answer a lot of questions allow amphibs to land as they currently do but make damage far more bloody and far more likely for every enemy ship/ aircraft in excess of allied air/ship within say a 5 square (intercept) range. It should be bloody enough that any peroson would strive for dominance of air/ sea before risking any units This means the Germans must neutralise the RN/ RAF before any sealion G
  14. Iit perhaps preferential to wait for Russians to declare war first...reducing USA entry. If the common Russian strategy is to keep unis away from the border it is not as if the Germans get much of an advantage declaring war since they do not wipe out units in first turn G
  15. Number 6 seems a bit too dramatic wiping out one whole axis strategy! Also allows UK to leave UK totally ungarrisoned to aid the middle east Would have prefered instead it to be: a) before Egypt or Gibralter captured.....freeing up Italian naval resources therefore to assist... or no sealion before jan 41 G
