Even if Warren beats Leonard Dickens in "Flag Rush Hill", Leonard will still win the tourney since his performance as Axis in Der Berg was better than Warren's performance from the same side of Der Berg. IOW, we have a champion!!

The winner of Wild Bill Wilder's Rumblings Of War Tourney, and winner of twelve different bottles of fine South African wine is LEONARD DICKENS!!!

Congratulations, Leonard!! It's been a long journey to the wine, eh?

Congratulations to Wreck, a truly deserving champion.

IOW, he beat the snot out of everybody!

Enjoy your wine, sir, and bask in the adulation of the (crushed) masses. ;)

I'm heading over to the other thread to elaborate on the post-graduate course in infantry tactics I received from Mr. Dickens on a little hill called "Der Berg"...

And it certainly looks like I will win Flag Rush Hill as well. In fact I hope to force the surrender, as Warren is down to a single JpzIV and about two platoons worth of fleeing survivors.

So I suppose it is OK to talk about Flag Rush Hill too, given that it can no longer change the tourney?

In any case, to all my opponents in the tourney, I want to thank them for interesting fights, especially the guys in the finals. Playing good scenarios blind really is a cut above the vanilla meeting engagement for excitement and tactical challenge.

But my biggest thanks I save for last. A great big thank you to Treeburst, WineCape, Wild Bill, and Nabla, for all their work in making the tourney happen in the first place. It is a rare and precious thing to have community, even such tenuous electronic community as we have here. It is rare because it takes time and energy, often for little recognition or reward. It is hard work to make things like this happen, and I really appreciate it.

And I will appreciate that wine, I am certain. smile.gif I will have an AAR on that, I suppose, in good time...

Wreck, it was a long road. My congrats on winning the to date most succesfull tourney that Treeburst and I have rolled out here on the bulletin board!!

Wild Bill and his playtesters gave us some excellent scenario's through sheer hard work and doggedness to get the scenario's done for the tourney. Wild Bill, please name here all of those involved in your team that created the scenario's/playtested them. My gratitude gentlemen! Without your semi-historical terror there would've been no withdrawal signs for the participants ;)

To Treeburst155 (Mike Meinecke),

My friend, without your patience, diligence (and hard skin due to the Invitational ;) ) no tourney would take place, fullstop. A million thanks. Mrs. Treeburst might push some divorce papers in front of your noise if you're not careful. smile.gif

Congratulations again Leonard. Please e-mail me at WineCape@global.co.za for your home address details so that I can send of your 12-bottle prize. Any preference on grape cultivars? smile.gif

Sincerely,

Charl Theron

Enjoy that wine smile.gif !

Congrats from me, too! I was a virtual PBEM newbie when I faced Wreck as Axis in my first tournament game (the infamous "Sounds in the NIght"). Needless to say I had my clock cleaned--and I thought, "If everyone is this good, I'm in deep trouble."

Well, I was in trouble in some of my other games, too--including with Juha--but never quite THIS deep.

And I guess we all have to conclude--nobody else is quite this good.... ;);)

Congrats to a great champion!

And BTW, when do these scenarios get released?

Allow me to add my congratulations to Wreck, speaking as but one more tattered corpse on his highway to the championship. I think I ran across a number of good players, but he was heads and shoulders above anyone else.

I'd say I was looking forward to a rematch one of these days in another tourney, but I'd be fibbin'.

Just a quick open question. Did the AAR's get published on the Web?

Another thread about the Rugged defense tourney was debating the issue of AAR's and the effort to produce them etc...

If anyone knows what we decided to do with them can you post a response here.

Cheers

One last post to this thread ... well, maybe the last ;)

In addition to the AARs, will all the scens be available at the Scen Depot? Currently only three seem to be there:

1) ROW - Duel at Dompaire,

2) ROW - Real Guts, and

3) ROW - Resolve at Ranville

It would be good to see all the scens and AARs together somewhere hint hint.

Be cool

Um.....Visom,

I forgot all about it. AARs on the way.

JonS,

I think the rest of the Wild Bill's RoW scenarios are at Boots & Tracks, or soon will be. I'm almost positive I saw Kommerscheidt there.

We have no home for the AARs at this time. I have a small homepage, but it would take me two solid days to relearn the basic HTML and get the AARs up. I haven't seriously messed with my page in almost a year now.

Treeburst155 out.
