Loeffe
According to Gamespress.com theres a special edition of CMAK on the way... ----------------------- CDV to Publish Combat Mission 3: Afrika Korps (Special Edition) August 23, 2005 - Cary, NC - CDV Software Entertainment announced today that they have secured the North American retail rights to Combat Mission 3: Afrika Corps (Special Edition), in development by the team at Battlefront.com. This special retail-only edition includes 65 new scenarios and 15 new operations, guaranteeing gamers hours of exciting game play. Combining unparalleled game depth and ease of use with a true 3D environment, Combat Mission 3: Afrika Korps offers a true combination of turn-based and real-time strategy to experience the best in WWII tactical warfare gaming. Features of Combat Mission 3: Afrika Korps include: # Three theaters of war - Crete, Italy and North Africa # Historically accurate units representing seven nations, including Germany, Great Britain, the United States and Italy are available in the game # Meticulously researched vehicle and uniform models, paint schemes and sound effects # Fully researched and detailed TO&E (Tables of Organization and Equipment) for all seven nations # All vehicle combat capabilities are modeled on their real-world counterparts, and weapons are rated in abilities including effective range and armor penetration # Realistic weather and terrain affect combat outcomes # Units use line-of-sight and audio cues to determine the position of the enemy, while the confusion of battle can cause friendly units to mistakenly be identified as foes # A mission and map editor for creating custom scenarios # Optional Historical Rarity of Units ensures players will no longer have to worry that their opponents "cherry picked" their forces ------------- So, Battlefront guys, can we get more details on this? Any screenies?
Loeffe
Hmmm... It seems that this is "just" the regular CMAK (as discussed previously), but with new scenarios. Correct me if I'm wrong???
Moon
You're right. The retail edition of CMAK is the same as our version but with a whole bunch of extra scenarios and campaigns. Martin
Michael Dorosh
Can we get a scenario list?
Yskonyn
You actually mean to say: "Can we have the list so we can download them ourselves and make our own little "special edition"!", right Michael?
Pzman
LOL I think most of us already have better than Special Edition stuff anyway. It will be good to suck i... I mean get more people playing CMAK who would not have otherwise looked at it though.

No, I just want to see a) if my Ortona op made the final cut which other scens made the final cut (Scenario Depot is down now) to see if I want to buy a second copy of CMAK the way I did a second copy of CMBB
Pzman
I think they would have contacted you if any of your battles made the cut.

Pzman
Ah, CDV must have picked them, j/k. Well I guess that happens. I just thought BFC might let you know considering that they asked for people to send them battles to look at this time around.
Soddball
I expect they included 'Inferno' in the 'classic battles nobody should play' section.
Immacolata
So this special edition is just vanilla CMAK with community created extras thrown in? Hmm. I just saw Combat Mission Anthology for sale, perhaps that is the cheapest way of getting it. Btw. is there any improvements between CMBB and CMAK that make you say "I will never go back" or is it minor improvements? And what is the difference between the EU CMAK SE and the USA CMAK SE that seems to be in the making too?

michael_wittman44
CMAK Rocks! Me thinks CMAK special edition will have something like 100 more scenarios! Debating whether to get it even though I've got the normal CMAK.
MikeyD
I've been seeing more and more 'junior members' appearing on the board, probably attracted initially by Grognards and CMx2. The Special Edition could be their excuse to finally pick up a copy of CMAK to play with - but remember to pick up my Sherman mods!!!
michael_wittman44
I haven't seen anybody rated under 300 on this site (by that I mean member #). Is there a list of members??

MikeyD
Stoat, in all my years chatting I've never before hit that Directory button. I finally tried it and it was downright creepy seeing my brainless ramblings cataloged for review!
