Richie
OK, Bear with me, I'm doing a little military modelling here, Tiger's from 501, in Tunisia 1943 had makeshift front fenders/guards... Does anyone know if the rear guards were makeshift too? Clearly the lights were relocated... Picture found here, about 3/4's the way down... Hey look, it's ma 500th post! Mace
A few things: Dragon has just released a 1/35 early Tiger I that features the correct fittings. Differences were quite substantial between early and late war Tigers. As for Aber, I suggest trying either NKR models who keep Aber in stock, or contacting Steve from Snowy Mountain Models who can readily order them in. Richie
Thanks Mace, that's great. Pity I'd spent all Friday scratch building the rear covers for the 501st version but what can you do... Good range at NKR, I have seen a couple of things I like.

Sergei
I'm the Forum Avenger... I retaliate whenever someone posts overly long continuous strings which force me to scroll sideways. Deleted that WMS (Weapon of Mandatory Scrolling). [ March 27, 2005, 11:07 AM: Message edited by: Sergei ]

Richie
Thanks man, I have seen the website! Lot's of great stuff there and I appreciate your input. Hmmm... NKR I just ordered $200 worth of stuff from them. The missus will kill me if she ever finds out. I really liked the Erzatz M10 MOD kit for a Panther G... next time though
MikeyD
RNL Tiger's site has an unexpeced photo. A Tiger passing a knocked out BT. I was under the impression that the BT didn't survive much into '42 - certainly not into late '42 when the Tiger showed up! But there they are together. Huh!
Sergei
T-26's were still used by Russians in the Karelian front (Ilomantsi) in 1944. Those had radio antennas around their turrets, so maybe they were used for communication. Or they were light enough to use the Karelian roads.
rleete
After much searching, I could not find anything definitive on the rear fenders. Aparently, some were removed entirely, but the reasons for doing so were not clear, and/or not mentioned.
Sirocco
As I recall, the Panther had problems losing fenders and side skirts in combat conditions, so I assume the same was true for Tigers.
rleete
The book mentions they were removed, not lost (due to combat/accidents). I assume they specified that to avoid confusion with combat and/or transport damage.
Richie
Africa 1943... They look a lil' different. here's one now!
RNL Tiger
Looks a nice model, it needs a desert paint job now I just finished a [1/72 Dragon] Tiger 1 Sd.Kfz.181 Ausf.E Late Production and the level of detail is quite different. First model I've built in over thirty years and it shows! I made a mess of the wheels and tracks and the stickers came off - but I do like the custom camo job I did! I think I will stick with the diecast models in future they look much better
