Seanachai
Our long national socialist nightmare is over. Our Forum works. Our great Modders are enthusiasts of the game, and not neo-Nazis. Tyranny and belittlement by a few disgruntled bigots cannot tarnish this fine historical and war-gaming Forum. Investigations by members of the Peng Challenge Thread have failed to turn up any significant number of neo-Nazis among Modders, among Forum members, or among the BFC staff. There were some neo-Cons, but steps are being taken to establish a registry so that their activities and movements can be monitored. And residents of Grog Dorosh’s neighbourhood have been informed of his presence, and he must register with local authorities if he moves his residence. This is a place you can all be proud of. A place where the only voices that will not be heard are the voices that unjustly vilify, misrepresent and demand the silencing of others. A place where you can bring your families. Although you might not want to let the children go into the Peng Thread or the Master Goodale abomination. Return now to your quiet contemplations of armour penetration, ammunition types, and uniform shoulder tabs. Take pride in all that has already been accomplished, and take satisfaction in the knowledge that soon you will be able to play Combat Mission as Australians, New Zealanders, South Africans, and perhaps even sillier nations. And do not fear the Dutch. They are mostly harmless. Just keep them where you can see them, is all.
Boo Radley
The stadium is sold out and all the stands are full. As Seanachai ascends the dias, the crowd is already on their feet. He gazes out over the expectant masses, and as he removes his notes from his pocket, the thousands, as if with one voice, roar out: "SUM UP! SUM UP! SUM UP!" He specifies two particular threads on the forum in this way: the Peng Thread or the Master Goodale abomination. As an open-minded individual, I occasionally have been known to peruse the Peng thread, especially in the throes of an excruciatingly dull afternoon at work. I have seen for myself that the level of erudite discussion in the so-called MasterGoodale (or more properly, the Cheery Waffle) threads is on a far higher intellectual plane than the guttural noises on display in the Peng. I consider this remark a vicious slander of the Cheery Waffle thread. It clearly shows that certain "special" members of this forum have spent so much time wallowing in the Peng that they can no longer appreciate discussion more sophisticated than a couple of preschoolers arguing over a new box of crayons. Oh, and Seanachai, I'm glad to know the alleged Nazi takeover of the forum didn't pan out. That was close. Who knows what web site could have been the next domino to topple. Yeknodathon
Indeed... 9 battalions of Goodale waffle has a frontage of a few milimetres whereas yer Peng frontage is much larger with only a Boo in a trench facing the wrong way and that's not counting yer outliers... ... and one has to consider: why hasn't the Goodale collapsed from considereable pressure on such a reduced frontage? Eh? Tell me that? Is it yer reorganised TOE (we must exclude Gnomes here, on account that TOEs could be a bit gammy)? Yeknod

War is expected to be declared momentarily. A war between these two gigantic superpowers of cybernetic schlock is almost certain to be devastatingly tedious and deadly boring. Don't let the children watch if you value their future development. Michael

Okay, fine, the "Wehrmacht fan" phenomenon smells vaguely fishy, all that stuff about the superiority of German ubermensch soldiers. The complaining about CDV "Waffengrenadiers" can most charitably be explained away as anal-retentive groggishness. And I've given my opinion on Dorosh's Grossdeutchsland essay long, long ago in a thread far, far away. But neo-Nazis? Nah. Well, maybe a couple. But the great majority of forum participants are just too comfortable to become fascists. Or so I thought. But then I find out that all this is the results of "Investigations by members of the Peng Challenge Thread"! It's axiomatic that the results of any investigation conducted by Pengers must be exactly, 180 degrees wrong. If there were no neo-Nazis, the Pengers would have been sure to find some. As they did not, the forum must be severely infested!

Hans
Well now that that challenge to world happiness has been beaten down. Shall we: 1. Worry about the glorification of Soviet Russia? 2. Support for Horthy's regime? 3. Mussolini hero worship? (partially vile) 4. Adulation of whats his face in Roumania? 5. Does Madmatt hide in a closet during his lunch break and play Close Combat I? The antidote to Nazi-glorification is not to ignore that they have ever existed. It may have occurred to you that a large contingent of the Waffen SS did not actually come from Germany, but from countries which had been conquered (including France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway,...). This extreme form of 'collaboration' has led to post war traumas which still today have not been completely overcome in some of these countries. In fact it is directly linked to the resurgence of the extreme right and thus affects even people with a political conscience who did not live through the war. Suffice it to say that it would suit many to see the true (SS-)character of these contingents airbrushed out of history, which is exactly what the CDV-solution did. To have seen it happening due to the application of German law was the ultimate irony.
