Lee
Don't know if you guys have seen this or not. These pictures show a German tank being found and removed from the mud in December. I'm not sure in what country these pictures were taken. The tank looks to be in really great shape overall, even the unit markings are intact, what wonderful news! Ok, guys, what exact type and variant of German tank would you say this is? http://www.dusky.sk/halbot/?id=2863

Cuirassier
I have a lake in my backyard. By rights I'm entitled to at least a platoon of sunken AFV's!!!

I don't know about you, but not only could I not afford the crane to lift them out or the cost of restoration, but even if someone dropped a PzKpfw V in pristine operating condition into my driveway, I could not afford the maintenance to keep it running for a week...
Melnibone
It's been in a lake for over 60 years and still looks in better nick than my car.
Andreas
Neither could the Germans, so you are not alone. All the best Andreas
Inola
I swear it can be turned on from the first attempt. LOL
John Kettler
I read that they got it running practically as soon as it was ashore. Fired the first time! Speaking of amazing things, people died for much lousier pictures than these during the Cold War. Need any BACKFIRE parts? http://englishrussia.com/?p=533 Regards, John Kettler

Lee
Heh, I knew you guys would spot the Russian origin of this tank right away. There's no fooling CM armor enthusiasts. What a cool thing to find, it's amazing how perfectly preserved it is! I'd rather have a panther in that condition found, but this is very nice, too.
Fußball
Beautiful find. Only wish I could find perfectly preserved tanks lying around in the mud! Tschüß! Erich
z-warfare
Hey is that an original Soviet commander's cupola or was it retrofitted after the tank's capture?
Guest Mike
It was apparently captured 6 weeks before it was ditched, so not a lot of time to fit a new cupola. Looks like a russian one anyway - various hex turret arrangements were made: (from Russian Battlefield site)
z-warfare
Cool, that's exactly what i was wondering.
Sivodsi
Did you see the tracks turning as it was dragged up the hill? I'd have thought they would be jammed solid.

All the best, John.
