transporter
I may have asked this before. When a quad 50 (either stand alone or 1/2 track mounted) runs out of ammo how do you get them more. I have tried ammo carriers (like those who carry 50 cal for the infantry Ma Duce) but that didn't work. I have tried dismounting the crew, going to a 1/2 track or truck, acquiring 50 cal and returning and remounting but that did not work. They put out a nice chunk of fire power and it would be nice to keep them in the game. Thanks
IanL
There is one other thing you could try - ammo dump near by. Check and see if an ammo dump has .50cal ammo in it. And if it does you can position the quad .50 near it and see if the crew automatically draws ammo from it. Actually another could work to: Ammo sharing can only happen between units in the same platoon. So another thing you could so is assign some .50cal teams from the specialist team menu to the same platoon as the quad .50. Then when the quad gun runs out and the .50cal team is near by they should automatically get ammo from the .50cal team.
MikeyD
This was quite awhile ago but I once did a test to try to run my M16 HT out of ammo. I ran it out, let it sit, then to my surprise I found it with ammo again. Ran it out again, let it sit, and again it had more ammo. To this day I do not know what in heck was going on.
Sgt.Squarehead
Any tanks nearby? They usually seem to have more .50cal than they need.....Just a thought.

Erwin
I never seen vehicles share ammo. Occasionally it's possible for a crew to dismount, board another vehicle and AQUIRE ammo they can use once they return to their own AFV. But, that only works for a very few vehicles IIRC. The crew can Acquire ammo and return to their vehicle but the vehicle will not use ammo that is carried by the crew or passengers. The vehicle will only use its' assigned ammo (the top colored ammo) and the extra ammo that is the correct type (the lower different colored ammo). The crew ammo is listed to the left under unit info panel / ammo.
Erwin
While that is "normal" there are exceptions. I am not 100% sure which vehicles/crews can use external ammo. But for example IIRC the Brits have an Auto Grenade Chucker vehicle in CMSF. One can dismount the crew and ACQUIRE grenade ammo from a supply (land rover) vehicle and then remount and use the ammo.
Sgt.Squarehead
Presumably you can do the same with the dismountable weapons from certain US Humvees in CM:SF (I forget which particular formations have them off hand), I've not tried it, but it's a good idea, so I will.
