beatmasta
Has anyone else experienced the same annoying thing. I've been playing the CMFI since the day it was released but today for some reason my AV-software started to think that the .exe file is a trojan virus... It keeps deleting the exe even if I restore it. It "finds" it again right away and deletes the file... And therefore I can't access the game at all. Very annoying...
Davek555
Do you have an option to "restore and ignore" it? I know I had to do this with Norton when I downloaded the game because it quarantined the exe. file. Haven't had any problems since then.
Tempestzzzz
Yes it is a bit of a headache. I have AVIRA and even after I tell it to ignore it seems when I turn off the computer the very next day I want to play I go through the same routine of telling the anti-virus to ignore it. It also corrupts my desk icon so I have to rebuild it even after I tell it to ignore it (the av still goes through some 'repair' routine.) What I do now is just turn off the antivirus before I play. For what it's worth AVIRA when I run a scan also deletes an exe in another armored game that I have (Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942). I just have to restore it from quarantine afterwards. Sign of the time anti-virus treats quite a few legitimate exe. with suspicion.
MikeyD
I had to yank Avast! anti-virus entirely. I was causing me nothing but problems and I don't think it ever caught a virus anyway.
LongLeftFlank
Yes, installing antivirus is like supporting a military coup d'etat. The added "security" isn't worth the other problems, not least the massive resource hogging.
sburke
Yeah I have tried several and wasn't real happy with any. Using Microsoft Essentials now and I have to say I have been a whole lot happier and as far as I can tell.... I haven't been bitten for it.
Tempestzzzz
Thanks sburke I downloaded Microsoft Essentials and installed in my Win7 machine. Didn't have the problem anymore with the FI exe. See how Essential works over a period of time and then ditch AVIRA from my XP machine.
beatmasta
I have the F-Secure AV and it has not been giving too much headache before yesterday. And today it seems to be working fine and doesn't delete the exe file so it seems that it just had a bad Monday...
MikeyD
when I saw "CM.exe as Trojan" the thought popped in to my head 'Yeh, playing CM all night has probably prevented more than one pregnancy.
