imperator07
Is the interface in CMFI bigger for high resolutions? I have to play CMBN in 1280x800 instead of 1920x1200, because the UI is hard on my eyes. Thanks.
Battlefront.com
It is on our ToDo List. Back when we made the original game engine in 2005-2007 this sort of thing rarely came up because few people had cards and/or computers capable of running fast enough at very high resolution. That's obviously changed. It will take quite a bit of work, but we want to "decouple" the 2D UI at the bottom from the screen resolution. This will allow us to keep a standard display size no matter what the screen resolution is. Steve

theFightingSeabee
I'm also an hd 1920x1080 user. I will be really nice when the interface matches my screen. In the same breath, I hope it also happens with the text size in the briefing screen.
General Lee Irked
In the same breath, I hope it also happens with the text size in the briefing screen. Ditto! It is too small for my liking.

Vanir Ausf B
In the meanwhile, there is a large text mod for CMSF. If it was adapted for CMBN and CMFI... ...Which I use. It's better than nothing, but you can only increase the text size a small amount without making it jumble together in some menus and the editor.
:FI:Macca
That is a great idea. Hope this will work with all the 2D screens in the games.
c3k
Hah! A "great idea" would be to take that de-linked UI and...wait for it...have it on your smart-phone as a separate app! Yeah, remote control CM!
Paulverisor64
Certainly looking forward to this upgrade. Whether viewed from my laptop screen or my 32 inch monitor the user interface is very difficult to read. Hopefully this will also be implimented on the Battle For Normandy upgrade that is upcoming. It would give more incentive for buying this patch.
Paulverisor64
Is there any chance we might see the above mentioned "decouple" improvement applied to the game's interface in an upcoming patch or upgrade? I have trouble reading the briefing screen and the user interface. The numbers in specific are hard for me to make out.
:FI:Macca
Hi there, was curious if there is any news on that issue being adressed in some time. Does anybody know if it has been mentioned by the devs recently? cheers, M
togi
we are waiting till one year , common BFC , where is our readable UI on big screens? BTW, I'm playing 40" led TV set and it's a nightmare to read the game briefings
James Crowley
Indeed. A fairly large proportion of the 'regulars', at least, are getting - err, long in the tooth and such issues start to assume greater importance. Even those with 100% vision don't really need the eye strain in trying to read tiny print and numbers. I had to pack up playing HPS games because of a similar, but worse, issue. Not at that stage with CM, yet, but things are unlikely to improve in the eye department.
GJR144
I have trouble reading the briefing screen and the user interface. The numbers in specific are hard for me to make out. Why not reduce the resolution until you can read things again and a good compromise is found?
Erwin
The problem with reducing the res via the card (eg: NVidia) is that it can mess up the desktop shortcuts etc if you have a lot (like I do).
togi
Why not reduce the resolution until you can read things again and a good compromise is found? The demand is clear, this game is allow to play with desktop resolution. nowadays too many monitor is working with 1920x1080 hd resolution. so why can't we use this resolution beause of not user friendly UI and bfc has given a green light in order to solve this issue thanks to feedback from bfc
GJR144
so why can't we use this resolution beause of not user friendly UI If I wouldn't be able to read the text in briefings or the number of the remaining bullets, I would switch to a lower resolution to be able to read again. But if I would have such bad vision, then I wouldn't need this high resolution anyway. And a lower resolution additionally gives me a higher framerate and better graphics. Three flies with one clap. This doesn't mean that a scaleable interface wouldn't be nice, but there is a difference between necessity and convenience.
Erwin
Most of the improvements players request are for "convenience". All the "necessary" bits have been done quite well by BF.
togi
any voice from BFC on this case, this is asked several times and there is a silence on that after steve's words?
:FI:Macca
Bump It would really be nice if somebody from the Battlefront related to this issue ...
Snake Man
Imagine running Combat Mission game with 3840x2160 resolution, aka 4k... try reading briefings or generic user interface text from that screen. This is video of me using 4k resolution in Black Sea demo (I know this is Fortress Italy forum area but didn't want to start brand new "dupe" topic). Just check out that UI size in scale comparison.
