On a positive note!

Just witnessed something pretty awesome. I just had the crew of an American halftrack get killed and the passengers (weapons platoon hq support) took over and drove it out of harms way while returning fire with both MGs. I didn't think anybody could drive a vehicle that wasn't a crew member of the vehicle.

Yeah. I see amazing stuff all the time to be honest. I think everyone just takes it in stride, doesnt feel its necessarily worth posting about rather than something that could be fixed or whatever.

There's all sorts of brilliant things in the game that are modelled... To be sure its the best computer wargame ever made IMO.

Just saw something "completely different" in a PBEM today.

Had a sniper/marksman crouching behind some flanking bocage for several turns, waiting for an injudicious "Ami" charge across his sightline. But the Americans are not moving, hunkered down behind their own piece of bocage.

But they're popping up and loosing off every so often at some other troops. My man just watches and waits for his moment.

Finally after about 3 turns doing nothing, he slings his rifle, whips out his Walther, fires 3 rounds at the American position and is rewarded by a scream.

He holsters his pistol and hunkers down again. Clearly there's a reason they made him the unit marksman :)

Damn I love this game for stuff like that. The details can be so amazing and sometimes hysterical. I still remember back fondly to one landser I had in a PBEM - Probst was his name - who personally halted an American attack in Bois de Baugin. Small battle, minor incident, but it was just so cool to watch. I am pretty sure I still have it on my PC.

I think Jeeps, Kubels, Trucks and standard Halftracks can be driven by anyone. If the vehicle has a special gun or purpose it has a different kind of special crew, which disallows switching.

It IS neat as all get out if you have a dismounted halftrack crew and a squad jumps in and jacks the thing from them.

I was using a .50 HT to support one of my attacks but the gunner got popped. I really didn't want to have to do without that .50, so I backed the HT out of the line of fire and drove a jeep over to it. I had the driver get out of the jeep and climb into the track, and—hey presto!—he remanned the MG just as nice as you please.
