It was a tough bug to squash.
There was a LOT of testing to determine all the circumstances where it happened - what was happening in game, what was the cover. Then surprises when a game that we didn't think was affected, suddenly was (testing a campaign for Red Thunder and suddenly Russians in front of me bolted toward from a perfectly good building).
It's much better now. MUCH. But no one ignored it. It just took a lot of testing and fixing.

The politics did get out of hand on a few occasions. But I think Steve has generally done a good job of moderating that thread. The only reason I'm not over there right now is that I've mostly given up on trying to keep up. I can only do so much reading in a day, and that quota is already mostly filled with ISW reports (I've got lots of doctrinal manuals and campaign studies that I'm also trying to get through).

I started that thread and I can't keep up with all the comments either! It is still my #1 source for Ukraine war information and analysis.

Modules are about the same size as base games in terms of the amount of content (new scenarios/campaigns and new equipment/formations).
About the only differences between a new module and a new base game is that a new module doesn't involve installing a new application on your computer, and the new content will be thematically related to the base game it's a module for.

You'd be surprised. Creating content while a product is in beta does occur and can lead to some unforeseen problems and redos of aspects of scenarios as stuff under the hood changes. Known risk you take. Luckily, the general consumer doesn't have to worry about that.
Remember that BF only announces products once development is well into the pipeline. The Utah Beach Battlepack has been the exception as that was first announced basically around the same time as a green light for the project was given. There was nothing "in the editor itself" so to speak. Just design plans and research paperwork. I'd hazard a guess there would of only be some kind of announcement that the BP existed around now based on where we're up to.
There's also quite a few perfectionists behind the scenes trying to marry up the history with the tools and features available in the game engine. For example just for the Carentan campaign, I've tried to reflect all the units involved in the fighting and their relative strengths at specific points in the roughly two weeks of history I'm recreating. That's not a quick process to do right and try to validate sources. In the Carentan campaign you will command five different parachute/glider battalions plus add-ons at varying points. It's pretty big but you'll still probably be crying in parts if you know what you'll be throwing them  against.  I mean I could race forward and not care about historical accuracy at this point and have you pushing down Purple Heart Lane with a British Armoured Battalion because it would be 'cool', rather than a recreating the 3/502 of the 101st Airborne... but I think there maybe a few protests from the player base.

An interesting video about the Merkava. Some recent footage and some historical footage.

I tend to agree...But this 'feature' will be avaliable to any other CM game from now on....I belive that a few other minor things cam with CMCW but i can't recall right now...
I belive SNOW came with CMFB for example and that TRIGGERS were introduced with CMRT...I think 😊
    Stuff like that...

I don't see why that would make sense? People regularly move content from one "game" to another so it would stand that each CM game has some sort of shared functional base. Combat Mission as a whole must know how to fire an ATGM so when it comes to Cold War I-TOW you wouldn't need to code ATGMs from scratch but add the needed stats for the M90A1.

So both a fresh game and a module are adding new content of roughly the same sort. The difference is that the module is plugging into an existing CM purchase. but this seems only important from a consumer POV.

    CW

    - units (models, stats, formations)
    - textures
    - maps
    - campaigns/scenarios

    FR

    - units (models, stats, formations)
    - textures
    - maps
    - campaigns/scenarios

The only new thing I can think of is that CW has DPICM.

It was about 2 years total spent on active FR work. That was along with Covid interferences. The team for FR was far smaller, as well. The work done on FR speaks for itself.

Don't most of the Israeli Merkavas have Trophy? CMBS teased that hard-kill APS was going to be a prominent feature of ground warfare in the near-future. But APS have been mostly absent from the fighting in Ukraine. Assuming there's a ground invasion of the Gaza strip we might finally be able to start getting a significant number of data points for how well these kind of APS systems perform in real combat, and what sort of countermeasures work well against them (salvoing two or more missiles so the second hits before the APS can reset, and degradation fire with autocannons to destroy the APS are two countermeasures I've already heard suggested). I'm guessing that APS will significantly improve a tank's survivability, but that effective counters to the APS will be found which will mean that tanks will remain (as always) far from invincible. I've already seen one drone video of a grenade being dropped onto a Merkava. The video didn't show clearly that the tank had been destroyed (despite the caption claiming that the tank had been destroyed), but I bet any subsystems on the roof of the tank (such as the APS) would have been seriously degraded.

A mod for what? Sure, you might be able to find most of the Soviet equipment in CMSF2. But almost all of the American equipment has never been seen before in any Combat Mission title. Just how unique does a base game have to be? Are all the WW2 titles mods for each other?

A couple of days ago, Hamas claimed they ambushed and destroyed an IDF "tank". Does anyone know if it was a Merkava?  I was thinking the news may have classified an APC (M113?) As a "tank".
