  1. Don't send your men to war unless they've been trained properly. More to the subject: It could maybe be that it's only an animation which comes and goes no matter how much ammunition they have. If you have patience, I'm sure one of the know-it-all on the forum will give a better answer in a little while.
  2. Instead of assuming that they had demo charges, couldn't you have just spent a second or two to see what equipment those engineers were carrying before comitting them to the assault?
  3. Grammatical errors unfortunately don't appear in custom made scenarios only. They also occur in scenarios which come with the game. At least if we're talking Final Blitzkrieg. Maybe Battlefront should allocate a day for spell checking before they publish a game or a module?
  4. No, I don't want that. It would be too easy for the attacker that way as he's already having more infantry and armor than the defender. Requesting artillery support has to be done in the moment of the action to make the scenario a little bit more balanced. I guess it's fine the way it is. I just wanted to know as this behaviour from the AI was a bit surprising. Thank you very much for the replies.
  5. I'm back in this thread about AI and artillery. But it's not about the rate of fire and AI although that's what the subject for this thread is. What I wonder concerning AI and artillery is whether the AI favours on-map artillery before off-map when requsting artillery support? Why I'm asking this is because I was checking the movements of the AI troops in a scenario I'm making and noticed that three officers were all requesting artillery support from on-map mortars although they could request support from larger off-map mortars which would cause more damage to the enemy. I was thinking that the reason could be that on-map mortars reply to a request quicker than off-map mortars, but I don't know if the AI is coded to "think" that way. Another question regarding AI and artillery support is whether the AI is keeping track on where the friendly forces are so it doesn't request artillery support on a position which is too close to where the friendly troops are? I thank you for your knowledgable answers in advance.
  6. @BulletpointIt can sometimes be interesting to do some tests and give a green squad the high attitude about fighting and a +2 leader and give a veteran or fanatic squad a -2 leader and see who succeeds best. I sometimes give platoon leaders the veteran experience and +1 leader quality to hopefully be able to get artillery support quicker.
  7. If there would be a vote before Battlefront decides to begin the work with this DLC, or module what I should call it, I would definitely prefer the Red Army. The Western Allies are already present in FB with the US Army.
  8. In the CM-games, at least in Final Blitzkrieg which I have, the crew in a Sturmgeschütz has only one MP40 submachine gun, for the commander, if the vehicle is a Stug III of the late type while the crew in all other Stug III types doesn't have a submachine gun. The crew in all the different types of a Sturmhaubitze 42 has a submachine gun. Although I trust that Battlefront have made this decision based on what they believe is correct information the video Sturmgeschütz School - Choose the Stug Life shows that there were more than one MP40 for a Stug III crew. According to a Sturmgeschütz leaflet dated 1943, which explains the responsibilities of all the crew, the loader had also the duty to "always be ready to defend against anti-tank infantry with hand grenades and a submachine gun. Close combat weapons should always be kept at hand" and the leaflet goes on to say about the driver that "For close range defense, he always carries a submachine gun at hand with which he also can shoot out of the observation slit" and "When rolling up trenches and enemy positions he can use his submachine gun to effectively support the commander". If the crew had to bail out of the tank and destroy it if it couldn't be saved they should carry on as infantry which the leaflet explains with "If you're forced to bail out, don't forget your handguns. Continue as an infantryman". It is possible that the information Battlefront had when they made the games was different than what is in the leaflet mentioned in the video. Maybe they should look through that information again and if it's possible that not only the crew in a Sturmgeschütz had more than one MP40 they could make changes to the German tank crews in the games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8w47yYXLFGM (Didn't find a way to add the video so the link has to do)
  9. It's possible the tank was unbuttoned but there were no infantry men nearby. The oddest thing was that there was a thick fog and the tank was on a lower elevation than the German FO team which was in concealment in tall grass and behind a tree around five hundred meters or so further away. Even though the tank crew had high experience it didn't seem correct for them to be able to spot that hiding FO team in a very thick fog on that distance.
  10. It was a German thing in the way that the FO team was German but the tank was a US one.
  11. I suppose the game decides what to use when it comes to smoke and WP just as the game decides when your tanks should use AP rounds and HE rounds.
  12. You could always make yourself a fake account. I did that once and although I don't go into that account very often it can be useful to get in contact with companies that only let you write them on Facebook.
  13. You can always change the name of downloaded quick battles, scenarios and campaigns yourself. Just go to the folder where you have the downloaded file, mark the file and use F2 button to change the name to what you want. I usually add [cstm] in front of downloaded scenarios and campaigns, [H2H] to multiplayer scenarios and [quick] to downloaded quick battles to know which files don't come with the game.
  14. That film was just as good, or bad if you want, as the film Fury and I was surprised to watch a Russian film with no SS-troops. Or maybe this film had SS-troops in it too, like most Russian films about the war seem to have, and I just missed them. The woman who played Seymon's wife looked very much like Isabella Rossellini.
  15. @Erwin I don't know what the reason was for the last paragraph of your message above. NATO hasn't been on the table in our discussion about Russian speaking people living in Estonia. But as you mentioned NATO; I knew that USAs promise to Russia (Gorbachev) in the '80s to never have a NATO presence close to Russia's borders wasn't going to last long as the Cold War didn't stop then but merely went into a new phase. I reckon that it probably is enough with the politics and to allow this thread to be about the film 1917.
  16. @Aquila-SmartWargames When you use pieces of hedges and whatnot to have camouflage on that Panther and the halftrack, are they less visible to the enemy troops or is that just working as visual goodies?
  17. It's much possible things have changed since the '80s and '90s. Maardu outside of Tallinn and Mustamäe (or was it Lasnamäe or both) in Tallinn were mostly inhabited by Russians and Ida-Virumaa county in east Estonia was mostly inhabited by Russians. In Narva, Sillamäe and other towns closer to the Russian border many of the few Estonians who lived there spoke Russian as that was the language you mostly heard on the streets in the '80s and '90s. I remember a little before I left Estonia for Russia that many Russians in those towns complained about the Estonian government requiring from people who wanted an Estonian pasport to also learn the language. It wouldn't surprise me if things have changed and people speak more Estonian in Ida-Viumaa today as those who were kids in the '80s and '90s have learnt Estonian in school.
  18. It doesn't surprise me that the pixeltruppen get tighered when in hunt mode. If you try to walk the way they do with their legs you'd understand how tiresome it must be to be on the hunt for a long time. They always remind me of a girl on my street when I was a little boy, who whenever she weed or **** herself (having the runs) hurriedly walked home exactly that same way shouting "Mum, I ****/pissed myself!".
  19. It depends on where you live. I lived in the Russian part of Estonia and in a little town outside of Tallinn where there were mostly Russians. But you're correct about the Estonians and their relationship with the Russians. My aunt told me once that she wasn't happy to talk to me in Russian and wanted me to speak Estonian the next time I came for a visit. But as I had the work to live among the Russians learning the Estonian language wasn't in my plans. I'm pretty sure the Russians weren't much loved in other part of central and eastern Europe. But the fact is still that I didn't hear nor read much about WW1 in those two countries. They were maybe too much effected by WW2 so there wasn't much place for WW1. It might be different nowadays, though.
  20. I guess that people are ok with the information the media is feeding them. It's ususally the trench war that is discussed when it comes to WW1 and the atrocities commited by the Germans when it comes to WW2. Not many mention all people being killed by the Soviets and how many German POV that died in the Allied prison camps after WW2. When I lived in Estonia and Russia, WW1 was never mentioned but WW2 was mentioned a lot and always with the idea how good the Soviets were. But it's of course possible that the Eastern front in WW1 is mentioned in Poland, Austria, The former Jugoslavian countries and more in that part of Europe.
  21. A question about supressing the enemy with small arms: Do cautious and nervous effect on the pixeltruppens' will to fire at the enemy? I usually play the games by using Face [G] when I want my pixeltruppen to engage the enemywith small arms fire and I usually only use Target [T] for on-map mortars and if I want an IT-tank to use HE fire on a certain area or group of enemies. I had my pixeltruppen being shot at in a scenario and noticed that they didn't shoot back. I was a bit surprised by this and decided to do a test and ordered them to shoot at the enemy by using Target. But they still were't very eager to shoot at the enemy and only four out of twentyfive pixeltruppen were shooting back. These twentyfive pixeltruppen were part of four different spread out groups and only two of the groups were being shot at by the enemy. So I checked if they maybe were green or conscript but they were all regular. Three of these four groups were cautious and the fourth one was nervous. So is it possible that pixeltruppen being cautious and nervous effect their will to fire back at the enemy?
  22. You can have a look at these threads which maybe will encourage you to learn Python and Blender. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/118928-combat-mission-modding-tools/ http://community.battlefront.com/topic/135382-custom-3d-models-and-mods-compilation/
  23. My opponent had his infantry men further down the slope which the tank was on and further away in a forest to the SW of my small team with a part of that forest blocking, at least I suppose it was blocking but you never know with CM-games, the area where my small team was. His other tanks were either further down the slope or behind the forest to the SW of my small team. So I'm pretty sure he didn't know about my men sneaking up behind that tank. I've had tanks spot infantry in a house several hundred meters away and also through a thick fog spot an FO team which is hiding behind trees in tall grass on a hill several hundred meters away. The magic eye of the tank crew is fantastic in the CM games. The examples mentioned above were in CMFB and not from a modern title.
  24. Steel Division 2 seems to be such a stressful game. When I watch videos on Youtube the people playing the game seems to be a bit stressed when they only have 45 or so minutes to play.
  25. It seems from the comments I've read in the thread that this scenario is a work in progress. @theforger Why don't you upload this scenario to The Proving Grounds so more people could find it and try it out?
