  1. Nah I'm good. I'll go right ahead and call a spade a spade, and mental damage mental damage. And I certainly wont be following orders from some rando on the forums. I don't fear the outrage mob, nor will I compromise for it or appease it.
  2. Oh boo-hoo. This kind of moral virtue signalling crap is exactly that, and I stand by my statement. Anyone who has devoted the past 20 years of their lives (and yes, there are some) to trash a game online at every possible chance they get across every possible medium is mentally disturbed. I also love that you have conflated what I said to be a personal attack against you and anyone else that has ever criticized the game. Guess I just absolutely destroyed myself then! Consider me slayed.
  3. Check out this thread on how to do remote play in CMSF2 on Steam. Its actually really cool. Not perfect coop, but a lot better than anything else we have.
  4. To @gallycadet's credit, he did edit his review to change his statement on LOS being based on a dice roll. Props where they are due.
  5. Alright, here we go I suppose. First off, the idea that BFC or CM claims to be perfect is not true. Further, pointing out that CM is not perfect means nothing. And despite my tongue in cheek title, I do not think CM is perfect. As I have repeated a few times in the past few weeks now, I spent a lot of my own time showing that new tactical AI behavior introduced in v4 was flawed. I made a YouTube video showing the flawed behavior, submitted reports to beta testers along with others I play the game with (I was not a beta tester at the time) and continued to post feedback on the behavior here on the forum. Then, a few months ago, I spent a decent amount of time testing and retesting the new behavior to make sure it worked correctly and was functioning properly. My point is, I am very aware of flaws in CM, and I have actively worked to mitigate/fix some of those flaws. BFC does listen, its just that many times people post something that they think is a bug when it is not. I have no idea who you are, or that you were the person who posted that review on steam, so calling my first post a personal attack is laughable. But my response to that is simple, don't post stupid misinformed things and then complain that someone calls into question your intelligence. And it wasn't even a personal attack against you, it was literally just some dumb thing I remembered from a Steam review, not tied to a name at all. Seriously, relax. The fact that you are taking this so personally is exactly what I was talking about. "These are just my opinions! But also, how dare you have opinions counter to my own!" k. Also, value is subjective. If the game is not worth $60 or whatever it is on sale for right now ($42?) then simply don't buy it at that price. If it is worth that amount of money to you, then buy it. Yikes. So let me get this straight. You claim to dislike many parts of the game, and its developers, and even its price now that it is on Steam and on sale for the first time in a while, but despite all this you are going to now play it for weeks? So you're going to voluntarily engage with something you dislike for an extended period of time. Why? Why not just stick to your opinion of "I do not like this" and move on to playing something that you actually like? Again, I did not call you personally mentally unstable, but engaging in something that you actively dislike isn't exactly healthy behavior. Well, that or its a kink, in which case you do you. Again, I never mentioned you personally at all, so I don't understand why you are taking this personally. You could have posted that it was you who left that review and opened this up to actual discussion, but oh well. For what its worth, I am not trying to get anyone to love me here. I don't work for BFC, I just volunteer time to help out in what I can when I can to contribute to something I like, instead of engaging in things I don't like. And I have no idea what a Daikanta is.
  6. Just tried it too. Yup, you can in fact use this to play coop. Its simple to use too. All you have to do is launch the game, open the steam overlay, invite a friend who has CM on steam to remote play, and boom, thats it. They'll join a live stream and they can use their own keyboard and mouse to control everything you can. Its pretty awesome actually. You can easily play campaigns and battles with a friend now. In fact, I have not tested this but I think you might be able to invite multiple friends as well. Lots of potential here. And for me, finally some additional incentive to bring more CM titles to Steam!
  7. Yup. Unfortunately there are a handful of mentally unstable/disturbed people out there who have literally dedicated their lives to trashing BFC and Combat Mission at every turn. The reasons vary, but most of it boils down to stupid people being mad that they were matter of factly told off instead of being coddled and treated specially. This disenfranchised mob tends to conglomerate, and you get the hate groups/groupthink you are seeing. This is one of the main reasons I was always against CM moving to Steam. Granted, my logic is not the most sound, and it is a personal opinion, but I just didn't want these people having another avenue to complain about the same old things. Now that CM is on Steam though, and the overhead is being taken care of by Slitherine, I do not think its a bad thing for BFC. The outrage mob will scream about the game the next few days, but it won't last. Give it a week or two and you'll start to see more sane opinions come forward as the dust settles. The misinformation, such as spotting being a diceroll, certainly annoys me in particular, but that's the internet for you. Its also important to point out that with CM published on Steam by Slitherine, there isn't anything to worry about. They will handle the community outreach on Steam as well as advertising. If, at the end of the day CM doesn't perform on Steam, then it won't be the fault of BFC, or even Slitherine for that matter. And we are a very long ways off from drawing any drastic conclusions like that.
  8. T-72M1's The Iraqi's operated large numbers of BMP-1s and I believe they had some BMP-2s as well. Yes.
  9. Could be that you forced the AI to surrender before they got a new wave of reinforcements? I think that is possible to do at least.
  10. I don't blame you for thinking that. I know the feeling myself. I think it is more a case of Fire and Rubble being the main priority, its just a bunch of "pop up threats" keep appearing that have to be dealt with. Work on Fire and Rubble hasn't stopped or anything, it just can't get 100% of the attention all the time because other pressing things keep coming up.
  11. Can't speak to the rest of the stuff BFC has going on, but I do know that getting the game patches out took time away from the development of Fire and Rubble. Steve said himself that the time taken away was close to two months in an interview he gave recently. Believe me, I would like to see Fire and Rubble out the door just as badly as you want it to be released and on your hard drive.
  12. I think it depends on the scenario. I know of a few scenario's I've loaded from CMSF1 into CMSF2 and it worked without any issue. I did have an odd crash here or there, but the crash usually wasn't persistent. I think some scenario's might give you trouble based on what units are present. Because the TO&E has been changed so much since CMSF1 (as in the structure of it and how it is coded in the game) some of the oldest scenario's might give you trouble due to incompatible TO&E arrangements. Just speculating though. The short answer is, some CMSF1 scenario's work in CMSF2, and some don't.
  13. Great stuff! It was a nice conversation that I and I'm sure many others will find very interesting and entertaining. Quick suggestion, if you plan on doing this again at some point in the future (I hope you do!) posting an announcement a bit further out would be helpful.
  14. Nice shot! A little volkssturm sneak peak. Great scenario too!
  15. Nice vid! Always a fan of cinematic CM videos. Wish I had more time to make more of them myself!
  16. Its possible this was tweaked in the latest update, and the evade command is meant to be used for troops out in the open now. Just speculating on that though.
  17. I'm an advocate for a shoot and scoot command as well. It would work equally well for anti-tank infantry teams and vehicles. Designate the spot you want the vehicle/team to shoot from and then the place you want it to reverse to after firing. It would make it easier to fight proper BP engagements with tanks, and increase the survivability of infantry AT teams as well.
  18. Not sure what you mean by this. I just loaded up CMSF2 patched to the most current version and the evade command works fine. You click on a unit, click the evade command, and they get a move fast movement order, which they then execute when the turn is played. What's the issue?
  19. I completely agree with this. In general I prefer larger battles, but the administrative overhead of managing the large force can be a huge burden. I have no idea what I would do to mitigate that burden though. The only thing I can really think of is introducing some type of “formation move” where you can give simple movement orders to large formations. This is one of the things that I hope we would eventually see in an engine upgrade or something like that.
  20. You cannot edit the characteristics of weapons or equipment, and you never will be able to. Thank the gods for that too.
  21. I do think that airburst arty should have more of an effect on things like vehicle subsystems. Radio antenna's should be especially vulnerable, as well as troops riding on vehicles out in the open or only covered by a tarp. As to the trenches, I would point out that airburst rounds are designed to be effective against troops in fortifications. The trenches and foxholes in CM do not simulate overhead cover, which is why airburst is so effective against them. I'd love to see a new type of fortification added, such as a covered trench, that would give a lot more protection against airburst artillery. If you use the campaign unpack tool (over at CMMODS iirc) you can unpack any campaign (from the CM2 games, does not work for CMSF1 or CMA) and then tweak the individual scenario's. Its useful if you want to play out a battle from a campaign as a single scenario, or tweak things around a bit. However, if you want to compile it back into a campaign you need to follow all the steps, like writing out the campaign script.
