  1. Apparently it is more complicated than that. I know, I asked more than once. I want more engineering equipment just as much as everyone else does. Its always a future possibility.
  2. The size of the gun is much less important than the ammo the gun is firing. M774 APFSDS was a very capable round for the US in 1980, and its upgraded brother M833 (outside the scope of the game as it is from 83) is even better. Soviet tanks (T-64/72/80) are very well armored and hard to kill, especially at range. But they are not invulnerable beasts, and the 105mm (again depending on the ammo used) is not hopelessly outclassed.
  3. If you are looking for some generally informative information I would highly recommend this blog: https://coldwargamer.blogspot.com/ There is mountains of great material to sift through there, plus some nice model pictures here and there if you're into that sort of thing. For more fun reading, "The War That Never Was" by Michael Palmer is great. "Northern Fury: H-Hour" by Bart Gauvin and Joel Radunzel is also great and is based off of a computer wargame (Command: Modern Operations). "Red Army" by Ralph Peters is the Russian version of Team Yankee, written from the perspective of the Russians, and it also quite good. And then there is "The Defense of Hill 781" by James B. McDonough for those looking to get an NTC perspective. I'm certainly missing some more that are good, but everything mentioned here in this thread is certainly worth your time.
  4. They do work in CM:A, which is crazy. Although only about 60% of the time, and only against incoming threats directly to their front. Still though, its cool to see. That said, CM:A assets exist in a weird licensing gray area. I don't know the details myself, but I do know enough to know that it is not as simple as pulling the assets from CM:A into CM:CW. I don't think it made the cut unfortunately. Not 100% on that though, we are still in beta here. But it might need to be added to the "add if CMCW sells well" list
  5. It could, but that is probably better used for systems that are in the game
  6. Ugh, that movie Just remember that movies are meant to entertain, not to educate. Especially comedy's. Don't read too much into all that. In CMCW the Bradley comes in its own TO&E formation, and the dismounts are the 6 man teams they were in reality. The player doesn't have to do any annoying splitting or cross loading, all of that is taken care of by the TO&E.
  7. Bradley's entered service in 1981. They were pretty rare in Europe even up to 85, but they were there. Plus, you can assume the US does a rapid buildup due to some kind of flashpoint somewhere in the world and prioritizes sending more Brads and Abrams to Germany in 81. Don't worry, the Bradley and Abrams are in the game and that is where they will stay.
  8. That sounds great to me! The equipment upgrades for both the US and the Soviets really were all over the place. I know for the US the cav units got priority for all the new stuff because they were the ones expected to take the brunt of the fighting, at least initially. Anything to increase their survivability was welcome. A lot of the newer stuff also was put into the equipment depots for REFORGER units to fall in on. Of course, you can always assume that if there was any type of build up to the war, some of this newer equipment would have been sent out to the line units, for both the Us and Soviets.
  9. In every CM game you can set the forces to Blue vs Blue and Red vs Red. The same holds true in CMCW.
  10. Great writeup Warren! Looking forward to seeing the Soviet perspective in this fight! Always helps to have a guy who knows his stuff too
  11. TOW 2 was later, 1984/85 iirc? Don't quote me on that. The M901 in game has the I-TOW, which is still quite capable. I believe this is generally correct, but there was some spill over. Plus I'm sure you know how organizational things are, they take time and tend to be a bit messy around the edges. The game timeline ends right before J series really kicked in, but we still wanted to include the M1 and M2s/3s, which were in Europe in small numbers by 82. Always room for future potential here too.
  12. J series did not kick in until 1983, which is just outside the timeline for the game. So no J series, all H series.
  13. Great stuff as always Bil! Really fantastic seeing your overlays in their element in the Cold War setting.
  14. Hey if you hold onto it a bit longer and keep it in working order, you might be able to sell it for a good chunk of cash to some millennial antique collector! Hopefully he understands that it goes up to 11... My personal favorite Soviet tank is the T-80BV, followed quickly by the T-64A. But I know many (myself certainly included) have been hoping and begging to see the T-80 in a CM game, and now we finally have it!
  15. Yes. The plan is to launch at the same time. BF gets a bigger cut if you buy direct from their website. If you buy through Steam, both Steam and Slitherine get a cut is my understanding. If you buy on BFC and then import the key into Steam and download it there, I still think BFC gets the biggest cut.
  16. Thanks for the kind words everyone. The Chieftain shared the video on his Facebook page, which is pretty cool. Does that mean we are mainstream now?
