  1. Drones are countered by any kind of AA on the field. I think that the "Electronic Warfare" option will also impact the use of drones.
  2. But the conflict has been going on for quite some time now. There definately is a number of veterans who train those "green" troops. And in combat you learn things a lot faster.
  3. Tanks definately will stay on the battlefield. They will change, and those new tanks might not be comparable to the current generation, but the concept of "put armour arround a big gun and a big engine" will probably stay alive.
  4. Ofcourse a meta campaign would be great. And , yes, while Black Seas scope is smaller it doesn't Change the Basic Problem of a meta campaign: You'll need to implement the Basics, and I don't think that Battlefront is interested enough to commit so many resources. But damn, it would be awesome.
  5. Double that. 100% soldiers POV has the drawback of lacking oversight. I don't mind if you mainly use narratoin, but every x turns a short summary from a commanders perspective would be appreciated.
  6. I really like off-topic land. I learned quite a bit while following this thread and I think that the conflict can't be seen seperately for the reasons stated above. Yup. While the politics are interesting they don't belong into the Black sea forum. I'd move this thread no matter what. It is to filled with political aspects of the conflict, and every statement made by someone will (probably) refer to a political aspect. A new military thread does seem necessary. Even though there is a big "NO POLITICS" heading in the Off-Topic forum it probably is safe to assume that some, myself included, would like to keep the discussion going (mainly to follow that excellent source of Information called Steve.) Maybe someone should edit the sticky post regarding politics and black sea. That way we could have both, an informative discussion about politics and a cleaned CMBS (Or CMBC? I'm confused.) forum. Unless Im misinterpreting something. No mather I want to thank everybody who participated. Very interesting stuff.
  7. While I really like this more immersive style of narration I think it will make following the AAR harder. Which means that I will have to read the AAR more than once. Which equals more entertainment. Genius idea!
  8. This will be interesting. I really hope that I can get a idea of how this new, modern CM will play.
  9. War always was mythical and exiting. Because it had to be. Very few people would support war, any war, if they were told "Our guys will go, do some killing and do some dying. All in all they will cause a lot of pain, agony, etc., Support us!" War is exciting because thats what Society thought us.
  10. No objection at all, just surprise. I have to confess that I didn't look at any numbers before posting. It Looks like I gravely overestimated Russias military capacity. I take back everything I said and Claim the contrary. And I thought that I finally found someone I could believe everything and praise it as truth. Looks like I have to keep searching.
  11. I never thought that I would read this statement from someone who actually knows what he is talking about. In the end I think that the outcome of any conflict will be decided by Russias dedication. Without a doubt they would win any conflict if they are able to throw everything they have into it. Which is unlikely. On the other side, while the ukrainian government is stable they will be able to put up a fight. In the end, an all out conflict (hopefully) is only fiction.
  12. I don't think that this will happen. Adding a winter scenario would mean changing a lot of stuff, for example the uniforms. Unless it's in a major module there won't be a winter war.
  13. Looks like I really mixed something up- thanks for correcting me.
  14. You don't go to war unless there is a very good reason for it. I can imagine that for some NATO countries even a invasion of poland wouldn't be sufficient. But im absolutely sure that, even if some countries don't join the war, there will be plenty of support. Losing Poland would mean russians on the German, Slovakian and Czechian border. I don't think thats something those countries would want.
  15. In the other Cm titles we could run people over. I remember using tanks without cannon or mg to clean up infantry.
  16. Thanks for the interesting read. In the end it does seem as if sometimes, if the right conditions are met, humans can argue with each other without shouting insults.
  17. As far as I can judge we will only see modern equipment.
