  1. I just read about a statement from Alexander Turtschinow who said something along the lines of "Our war will only end if all of ukraines territory, including Crimea, is back under Ukrainian control." I can't imagine Putins reaction if Ukrainian troops were to invade Crimea. It probably wouldn't end nice.
  2. Yeah. A place to duscuss and find tactics would be great. And with the new and shiny forum it would look even better!
  3. The new forum feels weird. But that's probably just me getting used to everything. Reading black on white is easier but right now the forum feels a bit monotone and cold. I'd change the colour of the background to something darker. But that probably is personal opinion.
  4. Something else to think about is how Ukraine will develop after defeating the Russian invasion (Which it probably will). Right now it seems as if Ukraine is develpoing into a stable democracy. I'm not shure if that trend will continue after the defeat of the major outside threat. How stable is the Ukraine?
  5. I think this is the main difference between western and russian media. Looking at media as a whole some might think that they are comparable, but westerners have a faster way to access multiple points of view. I wouldn't say that "challenged" people make the difference. You are in the unique position of having a lot of time to devote to research (at least thats what I think). Many others might be both interested and intelligent but can't find the time for in-depth research. In the west those people can get a look at multiple perspectives because mainstream media is more diverse. Another factor might be that in the west education has the goal of promoting critical thinking (at least in the countries I know of). I don't think that the same is happening in Russia. This got me thinking... What if all those shows are a piece of a plan to defend democracy in the west? If "challenged" people devote time to those shows they don't have time to organise in groups that promote a... simple view of the world. If you discuss who is the "biggest Loser", the "Voice" or the "Top Chef" (That's what those shows are about, right?) you can't start a discussion about how the evil jews are controlling the whole world. Maybe those shows are what defends democracy in the first place. Maybe those shows are our savior. It all makes sense now.
  6. Wre you worried about the tunguska (Or about any anti-air systems reinforcing the US)? Wouldn't it be a waste to send air units into the sights of (perhaps still reinforcing) stingers, etc?
  7. In CMFI there is a scenario (I think it's called "catching a tiger") where a US force has to destroy a stuck Tiger. I think that's as close to that type of mission as we'll get. I don't know anything about US doctrines regarding evacuation of stuck vehicles, but to me is seems cray to attempt something as complex as trying to move a disabled tank under fire. You probably could use a "hold" objective next to a wreck and a "engineer" unit which has to survive the battle to get a similar result. Adding in depth mechanics into the basegame seems like a waste of ressources to me.
  8. All of these examples are examples of misinformation. There is a basic truth behind every statement: 1. We are being attacked by strong enemy forces. We don't know who they are, but, since they fight better than militia, we think that they are special brigades from russia. Because they are so strong we may retreat soon. 2. We got hit. I, in my position as media guy was told that there were 2 KIA and 10 WIA. I'll say that because that's what I know. Those numbers might or might not be true, but it's the information I got. Same for the other statements. There is a truth hidden somewhere. Compare that to russian information (No russian regulars in the ukraine) and you realise why it's importent to understand the difference between disinformation and misinformation. I don't think saying "they have nothing to report" is a true statement. As far as I know the war in the Ukraine is not summarizable with "Nothing new in the east (west?)." There is something happening all the time. Regarding the russian media, I don't think they don't report about military operations because they don't want to spread misinformation. They follow a different agenda. They try to convince their viewers that "shelling civilians and refugees" is happening and try to have a justification and more popular support for the actions in ukraine. If they were to report about military operations, what would they say? They can't say that russian volunteers died and they can't say that the seperatists have problems.
  9. Could you please give me the links to those forums? It seems to me as if there an alternative point of view is more present. I'd like to take a look at that point of view.
  10. I heard (or read) something similar regarding the same book. Can't remember where, though. There are many reasons why someone would be interested in the End of the book. Imagine someone in the US writing a book about a successful japanese invasion during WW2, or a german author writing about a russian offensive, where the Russians win. If it isn't complete fantasy it will make the population worried.
  11. The grenade throwing represents the infantry assaulting the tank. I don't know how todays infantry handles close armour contact while lacking AT-weapons. I could imagine that Battlefront will do the same it did in shock force. Were there grenade/tank battles in shock force?
  12. Thanks for the clarification. Keep the good AAR going!
  13. Is the "Tree" callsign intended to symbolise a special pronunciation or a mistake?
  14. Thanks for the intereting read. I knew that the german forces had some problems, but I never expected issues to be so present. If Battlefront was to release a module which includes the german army, would those issues be depicted?
  15. I think that we will see both: If a battle startes without contact there will be a slow and cautios recon and planbuilding phase. As soon as contact is achieved we will enter the "damnmyplanfailedprepareformayham" phase. Unless one of the players is c3k. In that case the mayham will start immediately.
  16. If I remeber right there was winter in FI+GL. But seeing winter in this new coflivt? Interesting, especially regarding those new amphibial vehicles.
  17. I'm not sure why the scenario editor decided to call this scenario a russian defence. RIght now it feels more like a meeting engagement. We are early in the battle right now. I think both will get reinforcments in the future. Until then everything is open.
  18. I'm in no position of authority, but please stop beating that horse. It's beyond dead. You won't reach an agreement. In fact, I'm not sure if you'll be able to agree on disagreeing. From what I can tell, since you both believe that your point of view is the right one (Which it might be. I'm not here to judge that), neither of you will be able to convince the other one. I love to follow a good discussion, but this is quickly getting sad. You both are running in circles and, unless you really enjoy beating dead things, all you do is waste your time. Thats my advice. Feel free to go on if you want to. I just wanted to make sure that you don't think that you are doing something productive.
  19. It seems like the ukrainian forces got better and better during the conflict. Is the same thing true for the rebels/russians? How do they compare to their state during the beginning of the conflict?
  20. Regarding that... How are the new active protection systems detailed in the UI? Is there a easy way to find out whether It's activated or prevented from use by electronic warfare? IS there a way to find out if it's empty, etc? I'd like to hear some details.
  21. Depends on how desperate the ukrainian military is. It looks usable. Battered up, but usable.
  22. I don't like that statement at all. Of course it's the fighting that forced those people out of their homes. And, yes, without the Russian involvement there probably would be no fighting. But the conclusion "Russia is responsible for the people being forced from their homes" does not seem... sophisticated enough. To me it feels like stating something along the lines of "The flight pioneers are responsible for the death of everyone that died in WW2 during the bombings of civilian cities." True, but at the same time it bends the reality to a point where it's about to break. I realize that you wanted to show your disagreement with the statement that the Ukraine is responsible for a genocide, but blaming Russia as the sole reason for those peoples misery... I think a statement like that oversimplifies the situation. It just doesn't feel right. Unless I misunderstood something.
  23. Do you see the small red symbol over the BMP? Also, it's shooting at a blue symbol. This is a russian APC.
