  1. Your welcome guys. I hope it proves enjoyable. As always there are probably a few overlooked bugs and minor goofs so please let me know so I can fix. Michael
  2. For King and Country How can I live among this gentle Obsolescent breed of heroes, and not weep? Unicorns, almost, For they are falling into two legends In which their stupidity and chivalry Are celebrated. Each, fool and hero, will be an immortal -Keith Douglas, 1942 For King and Country is a CMBN Commonwealth campaign that follows the actions of the 1 Regiment Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry from their landings at Gold Beach on the Normandy coast on June 6th, 1944 and the hard fought battles through France until June 26, 1944. I have tried to keep it as historical as possible based on what research I could dig up though a few of the engagements should be considered semi-historical. After the British moved inland there were many small battles that were waged across the French countryside so to keep some variety I have "created" a few of these engagements. However, to keep to the flavor of historical, most of the included scenarios are actual battles and I have tried to model them as accurately as I could portray. Most of the battles are offensive operations as the German forces during this time were on the defensive. You can expect to see some counterattacks however as this was the common strategy for the Germans. I also have included the actual commanders of the various troop HQ's of the regiment. However the chain of command must be considered to be semi-historical as there were a number of leadership changes of the SRY as they fought across France during the real campaign due to casualties or simply reshuffling of the command structure. The leadership tree in this campaign is setup to reflect what the actual command structure was at the end of June. This campaign can be considered a preqel to my previous CMBN campaign Operation Clipper: The Geilenkirchen Salient which includes the SRY also. About the Campaign: This campaign requires the following: CMBN Game Engine 4 CW Module Market Garden Module Vehicle Pack It is designed for single player only from the blue side. All the information here is also in the designers notes of the campaign. Most of the battles and maps are medium to large so it could impact some older PC's. The Campaign Tree: 1. Gold Beach (Allied Attack) 2. The Ridge (Allied Attack) 3. A Meeting at Hervieu (Meeting Engagement) 4. A Hard Day in Hottot (Allied Attack) 5. Tea Time in Cristot (Allied Attack) 6. Fontenay (Allied Assault) 7. The Assault of Rauray (Allied Assault) 8. The 12th SS Counterattacks (Axis Attack) Victory Conditions: A Draw will advance you through the campaign. However careful management of the core units (SRY) is vital. You will get some replacements later in the campaign. Also the primary leadership is essential to preserve as the Germans get high points for killing top HQ assets. Maps: All the maps were created by the author (me) and I have tried to get them as accurately as possible based on google maps, drawings and old photographs I could find. Most are medium to large maps. Unit Tree: 1 Rg SRY (Core Units) HQ - Maj S.D. Christopherson 2 x Sherman V Tanks HQ Squadron - Maj R.Sutton-Nelthrope Recce Troop - Capt. P. McCrath (2 x Stuart V Tanks) 3 x Sections (3 x Stuart V and VI Tanks each) A Squadron HQ: Maj. J. Semken (3 x Sherman V Tanks) 4 x Troop (3 x Sherman V and 1 x Sherman VC Firefly Tanks each) B Squadron HQ: Maj. M. Gold (3 x Sherman V Tanks) 4 x Troop (3 x Sherman V and 1 x Sherman VC Firefly Tanks each) C Squadron HQ: Maj S. Mitchell (3 x Sherman V Tanks) 4 x Troop (3 x Sherman V and 1 x Sherman VC Firefly Tanks each) Feature Units: British: 1. 1 Bn Hampshire Regiment 2. 82nd Assault Squadron Royal Engineers 3. 6th Assault Regiment 4. 2nd Bn Essex Regiment 5. 1st Recce Regiment 6. 11th Royal Scots Fusiliers 7. 6th Royal Scots Fusiliers 8. 2nd Bn Hampshire Regiment 9. 1/6 Duke of Wellington Regiment German: 1. 726th Infantry Regiment 2. 916th Infantry Regiment 3. 352nd Fusilier Battalion 4. 352nd PzJag Abt 5. 1 Bn PzGrLehr Regiment 901 6. PzLehr Regiment 130 7. 12th SS PzAufk Abt 8. 1 Bn 25th SS PzGr Regiment 9. SS PzRg 12 Mods: As is common for most of my campaigns I use featured mods by some of our very talented modders of the CM series. Below is a list and all credit goes to them. 1. Aris Vehicle Textures (I have modified a few with the (hopefully) correct unit symbols or to represent damaged or destroyed vehicles 2. Mords Unit ID (The featured British units (except non core armor units) have the correct ID patches that will show up in the UI) 3. Various terrain modifications 4. EZJax CMBN Uniform Heer (Lehr) 5. EZJax CMBN Uniform SS All mods needed are included with the download and are tagged to this campaign so they should not interfere with any other scenarios or campaigns. The campaign has been tested but if any issues arise please let me know. Also any suggestions are welcome and I will make any adjustments necessary. I hope the campaign will prove enjoyable. Michael Special Note: The first mission Gold Beach can prove to be a beast. To quote Captain Miller " Get your men off the beach" will be an understatement. "Keep em moving". 3. Thanks for the AAR and the fine comments SLR. And I agree that a Russian camapign added to the bundle would indeed make it complete. Perhaps something to do some work on. While I have a few projects on going maybe in the near future I can work something up. Or perhaps if anyone else would like to add to the project and create something that would be awesome. The real credit goes to the team that created the Stalingrad mod. My campaign was simply ment to show off their excellent work. But reading your AAR's on the campaign has been a real treat to me as it made me feel like I was right there in the battle. Thank you again SLR as this kind of feedback and detailed AAR's is what makes all the hard work it takes in putting these things together worth while. Michael
  4. That was my first campaign so it was made a while back. When I get time Wodin I will take a look at it as I am at version 4 also but have not tried to load that campaign up. Michael
  5. Another campaign you might be interested in Its a large historical campaign taking place after Market Garden but features the XXXth Corps along with U.S units.
  6. Ok I usually dont post alot on things but I am LMAO at that "scenario". The tank commander is like "Spread out, spread out you stupid morons. Do I have to carry the full weight of the brigade on my shoulders"......lol
  7. I think if you load the new file it will require you to start over. I should have added the victory conditions into the designers notes but like I said I was quite the novice (and still am ) when I made this campaign. Im not sure the answer to your last question though. Maybe one of the experts can chime in. Michael
  8. Ok as I suspected the victory conditions required at least a tactical victory. I have changed the script so a draw will advance you to the third mission which a minor victory is required to win the campaign. Here is the link to the new .cam file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rvud5tc2mvkl0ry/Thunder Over Ponyricam.zip?dl=0 Michael
  9. Erwin this was my first CMRT campaign so it was a learning affair so to speak and I may have the victory conditions a bit whacky. Let me revisit when I get a chance and I will look at the campaign script. Michael
  10. Try moving along the left side of the roadway towards the village. This will shield you somewhat from the right ridge line. You will still receive fire from the left but it will be easier to suppress once its spotted until you can get the CAS on them. Also you can send the ANA boys up that ridge to engage the top of the ridge line which should help you get into the village. The village is an animal in itself but you can use the buildings to cover you from the fire from the high ground until you can start clearing them. Or you can send a squad up the right ridge to engage that bunch and keep them busy. Let me know how it comes out. Michael
  11. Thank you Euri. This battle was designed to go a little easy but still put some stress on the core units. By this time in the campaign depending on how successful the player has been the core units would be fairly well tasked. I figured this would give the player a small challenge but still enable him (or her) to move into the final battle with a decent core still intact. Also it follows the storyline as the Chechs would have suffered heavy losses if the player had been successful to this point and they would be preparing for the defense of Grozny. Michael
  12. Thank you Euri for the input. I will look at making that adjustment. Michael
  13. Glad you enjoyed Euri. Ill make a note of your suggestions. Michael
  14. If you would like to try a few more CMRT campaigns here are the links to some I have done. All of the campaigns have their own mod folders included and they are tagged so they are specific to those campaigns with the exception of the last one which has its own instructions. The Cross of Iron https://www.dropbox.com/s/c6co9dgu3woxw2y/Cross of Iron V2.zip?dl=0 The Hill (3 Battle Mini Campaign) https://www.dropbox.com/s/91ebxicei5c7c3j/The Hill.zip?dl=0 The Last Panzer https://www.dropbox.com/s/02ju1ce0itcv4lh/The Last Panzer.zip?dl=0 Copy the mod folder to your dataz and delete the .cam file. Use this link for the updated .cam file https://www.dropbox.com/s/u5hjzdh5o1cwmn4/The Last Panzer.cam?dl=0 Thunder Over Ponyri (3 Battle Mini Campaign) https://www.dropbox.com/s/m3c55voyd9iw3m7/Thunder Over Ponyri.zip?dl=0 The Battle of Tali-Ihantala (Finnish vs USSR 4 Battle Mini Campaign) https://www.dropbox.com/s/i9d5icpdod3r0vs/The Battle of Tali Ihantala.zip?dl=0 Special Note: This campaign uses the Finnish Mod (which is included) designed by a talented team of modders. Everything you need is included in the download. Rattenkrieg https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mxcvelh5tvow6g4/AABUOyCebR6u5MTl6A58tRPua?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ifgolk2pozx9ox0/Rattenkrieg.cam?dl=0 Special Note: This campaign uses the Stalingrad Mod created by that team which you can find the link to in the CMRT forums. You must download that mod first and I recommend creating another CMRT directory clear of any other mods as this one will conflict with some other mods out there. Then install that mod to the new directory (dataz) and then add the mod folder I have included in the download. Delete the original .cam file and use the one from the above link which is the updated. If you decide to try any of these and you have questions please feel free to ask here or PM me. Michael
  15. Hmm just not sure why it would stop at 70%. If you have not done so already disable your antivirus or firewall and see if that does the trick. That's the only thing I can think of that might block the download. Michael
  16. Ok here is a new link to the new dropbox upload. Let me know if you still have problems. https://www.dropbox.com/s/c6co9dgu3woxw2y/Cross of Iron V2.zip?dl=0 Michael
  17. Thanks Euri. All suggestions are being noted for future use. Not sure why they bugged out so early unless the new V4 rules are impacting that behavior. Most of the Chech behavior is set to extreme or fanatical so they should be fairly stubborn. Or maybe they feared the wrath of Euri . What about mission 3 and 4 did not appeal to you? I note all input to my campaigns to hopefully help me improve on any future content. Michael
  18. Oh ok let me check the dropbox link. I will reupload the campaign and send you a new link. Might be something is corrupted in the download. Michael
  19. Just checked it on my system and it loaded fine. Must be something on your system it does not like. Try reinstalling the campaign. Michael
  20. Thanks grunt_GI. Yea I know but remember your winning hearts and minds by not obliterating the village lol. Hope you can clear out those pesky Taliban. Michael
  21. Wow got to hate it when that happens . The gestapo needs to have a word with that pilot lol.
  22. Thanks for the input Annddy. Since the mod team did most of the graphic design work (except for the Fin Stuggs which I did) maybe you could post on the Fin Mod thread about that. I may look at adjusting the OOB a little whn I get time. I added some additional assets since at the start of the battle because many of the Fin units were in a retreat mode and were using whatever was available to make a defensive effort. Tried to make it as realistic as possible based on what research I could find. Glad you are enjoying it. Michael
