  1. here is another one: is it my imagination or do smoke rounds "disappear" once the HE complement of a battery is depleted? And does this work in reverse? (ie if I use a smoke bombardment mission at the start of a battle, are all the HE rounds "disappeared"?) Or am I just losing my mind? lol
  2. With the addition of all the flame vehicles, it is strange to see the Wasp omitted from the list
  3. That's too bad...I'm sure there are a lot of Mac users who would be interested in this game.
  4. Is there a plan to release the Strategic Command games for Mac? And if so, when? Thanks!
  5. Interesting solution Erwin. I will try that. And by the way, now that I think about it, it has only happened to me with German HMG crews and Cw mortar teams
  6. I'm playing with version 2.12 I have a couple mods but nothing that would cause that
  7. This has happened to me in two separate battles in the past two weeks. One soldier in a crew or section will become "stuck" to a tree or hedge, etc, preventing the entire crew/section to move away or function. The stuck soldier moves back and forth on the terrain...quite funny to watch, but it renders the entire crew useless for the duration of the battle. Is there something I can do "in battle" to solve this when it occurs? Or are these slackers just a write off? Thanks
  8. I will 3rd the Mark Zuehlke books for the four Italian Theatre books. A great blend of first person accounts, regimental histories, and official war docs, etc. I own all of his books...but I think you should start chronologically and get "Dieppe" first, then carry on with the four Italian Theatre books (mentioned above) followed by the Juno Beach and Normandy books. His last works deal with the Canadians in Belgium/Netherlands/Germany, and I expect he will release a book about Hong Kong in the future. Happy reading!!!
  9. Bravo John Kettler! I also have dozens of examples where Canadian infantry companies and battalions rode to, into, and through battles on tanks, from Sicily & Italy to France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. It was very common because CW forces lacked the transport necessary to keep up with the tanks. Easy solution: ride on the damn buggers! And they did, and did so quite frequently. Thanks for your post
  10. For all of the children on here posting about "oh my system is better than your system" please save it for a social media site. This thread is for Mac users keenly awaiting 3.0 and nothing more
  11. Firstly, I am quite happy to pay the $10 for the upgrade. I own a Mac so please publish a Mac version soonest I am disappointed about no tank riders and I am quite tired of hearing about it being an "eastern" phenomena and not a western one. I have studied Canadian military history extensively and it was common for the Canucks to ride tanks to battle, into battle, and in the pursuit. This happened during all Canadian theaters of war including Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany. I am quite sure the other western Allies did as well. The option should be there to use at the players discretion.
  12. Against the AI, I am always the attacker (exception: meeting engagement). The AI is decent in the defence, but I find it lacks the ability to properly manage and adjust in the attack. Also, I never look at the AI force allocation, set up positions, objectives, etc. Everything is a total surprise.
  13. Some of you may think this is "gamey" but I would argue that at no time during this war (or any war) did a single unit have to occupy a generic "green area" of a map at a certain time (down to the minute) to gain "points"
  14. Thanks! I never noticed the occurrence of #2 before...but I will pay closer attention in the future
  15. Hey guys I was wondering if someone could elaborate on "touch objectives" as follows: 1. Do your units have to touch where the objective lettering is or is there a range from the center of that writing that qualifies for the victory points? 2. How do you know that you have "touched" the objective and have been awarded the victory points before the battle has ended? Thanks!
  16. I don't think any historical commander was ever called "gamey" by employing whatever means necessary in order to achieve the mission. Period.
  17. I signed up as a replacement player for that campaign months ago, but unfortunately nothing yet. Campaigns, IMO, are much more interesting as you have to look at fighting over a lengthy period - squandering resources can have serious and poor long range results. I played in a Primosol Bridge campaign years ago (CMx1) and it was a blast! Good stuff...love the campaign update
  18. Funny, that is exactly what I was saying above In regimental systems, no matter if you were the cook, truck driver, mortarmen, etc, you were infantry first...maybe not as good as the frontline sections/platoons, but infantry first. There is no way that infantry raw recruits would be told: "oh yeah, go man that 6lb AT gun!" "The what?"
  19. MG crews, AT gun crews, onboard mortars and even the drivers of most infantry vehicles (ie halftracks, Bren carriers, etc) are infantry first. They were all trained as infantryman, yet were further trained in skills specific to weaponry, etc. and that is why they are now mortarmen, for example. So I have no problems using them as infantry once their ammo is expended, because they are in fact, first and foremost, infantry. Tank crews, on the other hand, have little to no infantry training and would barely recognize their sidearms, let alone know how to use it (yes exaggerating a bit, but I think you know what I mean). If their tank gets shot out from under them, then I use them primarily in an observation or holding ground mode, relying on defence-only operations.
  20. Mr Womble - however, the problem still remains within the game. If I am checking LOS from an HMG crew to a target, and I get the clear red line, then I am assuming the main gun can fire without redeploying. The LOS indication should ALWAYS be from where the gun is situated, not the extras. Hopefully this gets corrected.
  21. Thanks Apocal. I was wondering if that was happening, since the crew usually takes up several windows. It's too bad the gun can't be dragged to a nearby window without undeploying it (like in real life, lol). Maybe a solution will be implemented for a future release/upgrade?
