  1. Nope, not reading this boss, just hit wrong website address - honest
  2. This makes it a good simulation of reality on the front line in WW2 then Congrats to Battlefront for getting is so right.
  3. Well (to be fair) most would have CMBN and MOST will go out at this stage, 8 proceed to CMFI, then 4 CMRT and 2 CMFB - so only those better players will need to get any extra games. I personally would be delighted buy any of these titles I don't own (CMRT & CMFB ) if I got that far (not likely I know). In fact I'd be willing to bet that any player getting to the semi-finals onwards without owning CMRT would have no difficulty getting a copy donated from some lovely souls at FGM to ensure they can compete. Sounds silly but I doubt there would be ANY problem finding 3-5 members to jointly stump the cash up.

  6. Excellent news, now light duties includes some gentle mockery, healthy eating, light exercise and regular rounds of CM. Glad to hear all's pretty well, keep your chin up, behave nearly sensibly, follow most of the Doctor's orders and get well soon.
  7. I've only played 1 game against him so far; fun banter, challenging tactics, absolute gentleman. Get well soon, stay well, keep calm and concentrate on those YOU love. OTOH I hear some gentle exercise and mental stimulation improves recovery - such as computer gaming (I hear there's a game called Combat Mission you might want to try)
  8. 1. No AI & H2H - No affect at all.* 2. Yes they have no affect on the game whatsoever.* * glare, shadows etc - the level of lighting (daylight, mist, dusk etc does have an affect)
  9. Ahhh, now camouflage is primarily the art of staying unseen so as to prevent the enemy id'ing your positions/strength etc. Once fighting starts (i.e. at the ranges we are talking about in CM cover is more impostant as well as line of sight/fire. Woods are indeed important in the art of camouflage, however they are a DAMNDED awful place to fight, especially if attacking. Airburst affects are indeed devastating and the allied manual was rewritten after the Huertgen forest battles.
  10. Nice, very, very nice ........ me wants!!!!! Nice work, keep it up, Modders are ONE of the most amazing bonuses of PC Gaming, you guys are brill.
  11. Werll even I won't go so far as to sacrifice my lucky wargaming dice or my sacred tape measure of destruction to get him back. I know I miss him but not that much!!! . . .But in all seriousness, the place seems a little grey without Michael, really hope he is OK.
  12. "Emrys, Emrys, Emrys" - Chanted whilst dancing naked under a weeping willow inside a pantagram (made from roleplaying aids) lit by the light of candles burning in candelabra made of melted down lead minis. . . . Might work
  13. Apologies you are correct. I am misremembering - on further research/questioning of friends from that time - I am blaming the government for my emplyers policy brought in in the early 1980's of NOT allowing us to hold to the 2-minute silence at work. Damnit I hate blaming that government for something they didn't do when they did so much else. ANyway well off-topic now. Bye-Bye
  14. Thanks Slim for the detailed AA analysis, food for thought there. Just the sort of post game analysis I crave in AAR's and is sooooo rarely given. btw I figured your plan had survived "contact with the enemy" very well - surprisinly so (not because it was a bad plan - just it's rare for the plan to work so well).
  15. Slightly more complicated than that. We have the full ceremonies on the nearest Sunday to the 11/11 at 11am, there are also "unofficial" ceremonies at many places and much of the country also takes a 2 minute silence at 11am on the actual 11th. Until the mid 80's we held all the ceremonies at 1100 on the 11th of the 11th month, however the (conservative/right wing) government of the day took the decision to overturn this tradition. It was generally felt at the time that this was due to the cost to business of thre ceremonies taking place during working hours! I will leave you to make your own conclusions on mine (and MANY others) opinions of this!!!!!
  16. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. Laurence Binyon’s ‘For the Fallen’ Off to the parade in a few minutes, to remember (in the tradition I was brought up in) all the dead of all wars. Normal service (and games) will resume later.
  17. Thanks to both of you for this, good and interesting game - i also look forward to both your thoughts on how well your initial plans worked out.
  18. Greetings all, The Blitz has started signup for it's scenario of the month programme (November) so hussle over there and signup if interested. The Blitz tests 2 scenarios each month to assess their suitability for H2H play, OTOH it's 2 scenarios that guarantee an opponent and you can feel good by helping fellow CM players http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/showthread.php?tid=68691 Scenario this month CMBS: First Clash

  20. Just a thank You (very belated) for gettings sigs back up and running.
  21. Hmmmm, yeah, but that would mean starting a new thread EVERY patch complaining/praising Battlefront's decisions and spotting mechanics...... Oh I forget that's what happens now
  22. Only real way of doing that is to use house rules/honour system. most players will do this (if asked before game start obviously). Severa;l of the clubs IanL linked to have suggested HvH house rules - most are sensible. I tend to prefer playing scenarios at the moment, this Normally makes for more balenced forces - though not always.
