  1. Couldnt you, in theory, just make a mod and take some of the civillian models of CMSF and replace the italian models in CMFI with them? Maybe Mords CMSF Civil War Mod could maybe be modifyed to work with CMFI too, basically just by renaming the files properly. They could pose as Yugoslavian partisans, for example. Make their skin a bit more pale and they could be used as Italians in civillian colthing. I love Red vs. Red engagements in CMSF, i would definately play scenarios in CMFI involving partisans too.
  2. You should inculde in the documentation that python 2.7 is required to run the script. I added the missing () and then it did also work under 3.3.2. That was the only problem i encountered besides that at first i had no idea how to run a python script. I used the help of a simple 3-step tutorial wich i found via google, you could inculde that in the HOWTO. Link below: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/tutor/2005-September/041313.html
  3. Ok i figured out how to run it and tested it under Windows XP without the libmagic feature (i couldnt figure out how to install libmagic) and with and without the HTML5 feature. At first i got a couple of errors because i ran it with python 3.3.2 and (telling from what i read on the internet in the last 30 mins) the print command requires () under 3.0 or later version because it is treated as a function. Otherwise it worked well. For testing i compared the standard BFC sounds of CMBN without CW with akames SPR sound mod (link below). http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=finishdown&id=2656
  4. Looks really useful. How to run it? I have no idea what to do with those .py files, but i wouldnt mind if i had to spend an hour reading in order to figure out how to run the script. Could you point me to some sort of crash course tutorial on how to run a python script or is this to complicated to be learned within an hour?
  5. Another view of the giant explosion that took place recently in Homs: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b71_1375398690 Also shows some secondary explosions that follow the giant first detonation.
  6. Rare footage of a Speiseeiskampfwagen of a Propagandakompanie: A photograph of the very first prototype of a Speiseeiskampfwagen, wich was one of the most secret developments of Germany during WW1. The war ended before it could be deployed, and this photo is the only evidence that it existed. Take a close look at how the germans tried to camouflage it by putting foliage onto it.
  7. You are making videos of CMBN and upload them to youtube.
  8. I took myself the freedom to modify barons screenshots a bit: I personally find the 2nd one looks very authentic.
  9. Holy ****ing ****! That is probably the largest explosion i ve ever seen to happen during this war: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=fff_1375361358 The mushroom cloud looks almost like from a nuclear weapon  Although i am an atheist i would probably pray to Allah, Jesus and Chuck Norris if i ever see something like that happen in my city. EDIT: Estimated distance between camera and ground zero is 3300 meters (time = ~10 secs, speed of sound = ~ 330 m/s)
  10. Why dont you make a long tactic tutorial, JasonC? All posts i ve read from you that were about tactics were excellent and helped me to better understand how tactics work. I even have 5 of your posts added to my favorites in firefox . Edit: Here is my collection: Recon: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1457069&postcount=52 Fire & Movement: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1413819&postcount=21 http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1414257&postcount=42 Terrain: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1414775&postcount=55 And now there is also Smoke: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1459053&postcount=30 These posts read like they are written by someone who served as officer in the US Army.
  11. If you look closely at the screen (i think it is an IR display), i think you can see flares beeing popped by the target, wich would imply 1) that the target was some type of military aircraft and 2) the target was equipped with some type of radar/missile warning system (the Osas are guided by the ground stations radar system, IIRC, so unlike passive IR guided missiles, the target would be able to know it has been aquired before the missile hits ).
  12. In the editor, go to Mission (Blue) -> Text and there click on "Export" to get a template.
  13. Just found some super-rare combat footage of a Speiseeiskampfwagen beeing attack by an allied aircraft: After the attack you will see a short interview with the pilot (who is obviously on methamphetamines).
  14. Here are some photographs of the rare Italian Speiseeiskampfwagen, wich were called "Gelati Carro di Combattere" by the Italians and noteably smaller than their german counterparts: Taking cover behind some foliage: An here is a Russian Пак-32 (Пехота автомобиля кремом 32, ice cream vehicle of the infantry - model 1932), displayed at the tank museum munster: Although its design may be crude, the Germans feared the taste of the Russian ice cream: Vodka and Borscht.
  15. What do you think of using a fake smoke screen in a H2H match? They idea is that if you put a smokescreen near a (credible) avenue of approach on the, lets say, souther edge of the map, the enemy might be tricked relocating his units into a position to defeat that attack. But in the mean time your real attack is coming from the western edge of the map, where it hits the now weakened defenses of your enemy.
  16. Well, if you are not directly in danger of falling into poverty, then i would say you yourself have to know how you spend that part of your money that you want to invest in free time activitys. For me, CM games are totally worth it. If i made a table that compares hours played/money invested, i would probably end up with less than 10 cents per hour. IMO CMSF + modules has by far the most stock/fan made content. I havent played CMFI in quite a while, but IIRC CMBN + CW has more content in total than CMFI + GL.
  17. Yeah infantry smoke grenades come in really handy sometimes. The smoke dischargers on some vehicles also work great to cover infantry movement. For example in CMSF the smoke screen deployed by a BMP-1 can become up to 100 meters in diameter if the wind comes from the right direction and unlike mortar smoke, it can be deployed instantaniously.
  18. OMG! Look at those ice cream dischargers right and left to the "tonibell" sign!
  19. Battle damage on an Ausf. G: Speiseeiskampfwagen guarding an important river crossing:
  20. The eiscremeized version of the "March of the Hannovarian Grandier Guards" (in german: "Marsch der Hannoverschen Garde Grenadiere") that is played by the van to lure children to the Speiseeiskampfwagen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJljmqs-R_k Here is a different version of the icecreamized march, showing the long tradition ice cream has in the german army: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1PSnZa1fLg The original version:
  21. What is the social system like in Sweden? Will the state make sure that you have food on your table and a place to sleep if you are unemployed again, even if your are unemployed over a longer period of time? I am both asking out of interest and in order to be able to give you a better advice.
  22. I think the missile system in use is a 9K33 Osa. The interior kinda looks like it was (compare the right side of the below image to what you see in the first seconds of the video, especially the way the buttons on the panel below the display are aligned): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9K33_Osa According to Wikipedia Syria had 60 of those things before the war started, so it may be possible the FSA captured one of them and is now using it against SAF air craft.
  23. Interesting. The behaviour of the crew of that SAM system (chanting "Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar wal Izzatulillah!") makes it appear to be authentic FSA footage to me. Here os another vid of the FSA downing a jet (pilot ejects and parachutes to the ground):
  24. That is good advertising for a game that trys to be realistic: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2136&Itemid=68
