Here's the first version for download. This is the no-helmet version.

It replaces Russian infantry with some rag-tag irregular forces. I make no claims to accuracy. I just wanted them to look different to the conventional Russian forces.
 
The files are not tagged, but can be by modders wanting to use in their own scenarios.

Aris for his brilliant CMRT faces which I used as the base and then modded, clumsily. Kieme for his muddy black boots and Ukraine vest. Anyone else I may have borrowed camo textures from.

RepsolCBR - thanks for the kind comments. Shame your scenario can't include them. Sadly, if I swap the textures over to Ukraine they'll show up on both sides. Nevertheless, am looking forward to playing your scenario.

Sorry, but I want to keep the rag-tag look. Those wanting something more accurate or different can of course mod the mod when it's released.
 

Have made some changes to the look of the Russians to represent unconventional forces. Made the helmets transparent. Ditto some of the pouches. Added some rag-tagging. Also mad use of some of Aris' RT faces. Credit to him.
 
As this mod replaces the Russian infantry it will have to be tagged for scenario creation only.
 
Should be ready in about a week or so.
 

A few people have asked for them so in the time honoured tradition: if you want them bung me a PM.
 
Note: they are a V1, I haven't really gone to town on them. There may be a V2. There may not.

honestly i think if Russia were to go to war formally with Ukraine, neither side would be concerned with any ROE. It would be a fight for survival.

Debating wether i should make a Azov Battalion mod or just make it a generic UA mod....

 

 

Kieme CMBS USA Abrams - tank names add-on
 
Ok, this might not be for everyone taste, so it's just an add on. If you want your tanks to display a nickname on the gun barrels (noticed this was the case in CMSF too) you just need to download this and put it in your mods folder.
I also noticed that US M1A2 SEPs in recent europe training had these nicknames stenciled on the gun barrel. I managed to find a nice font, very similar to the original one. The names are in White but not too large or bright.
Anyway, grab it if you like it, otherwise you can keep your M1s with no charisma at all.

The names vary from WW2 tributes, to obvious ones, to "cool" or actual ones, got a dirty one there, too.
Hope I didn't make any mistake. 
The large file size is due to the number of textures... these should be enough to ensure a certain variety, although you might still get doubles (or blanks).

First round hit at 2708m, the longest one I've seen so far. Of course the target was a 9P157-2 so hit=kill, but it's still a dangerous threat.

How many Russian soldiers does it take to work an ATM?
 

I noticed this BTR-4 driver doesn't seem too impressed with my plan... he had a bit of close call with a BMP-3. Surprisingly not even injured. They went over his shoulder, past the gunners leg, and out the back of the vehicle without injuring anyone with spall or damaging anything important.

I know there is night optics but why nothing for the day? Does this put them at disadvantage when compared to the Americans widespread use of scopes on their small arms?
 
I thought optics were beginning to see more widespread use on Russian army AKs and RPKs in recent years. So are they still lagging behind in that area and that is reflected in CMBS?

Took Kieme's new Oplot for a spin... Its a blast.

I got the vest/plate carrier done but after many attempts with making matching pouches said to hell with it (most pics i've seen have mixed matched pouches anyway). so just have to add the shoulder patch and pockets at this point.
 

 
In the mean time made some quick helmet covers to give the UKR digital troops a rag tag look. flavors are ucp, a-tacs fg, multicam, socom...
 

 

Note to self; never, ever, ever again leave troops inside an Hind area mission. Ever!
