  1. It's small potatoes, but I'd like to see the Tigr have the GMG and MMG Much more useful
  2. The SF NATO manual mentions that the make-up of a Canadian Infantry Company was unknown at the time. I'm hoping my fellow Canucks have kept you up to speed, but if you need to be pointed in the right direction I'd be happen to chirp up. We were all convinced we'd be getting CV90s any day now (c. 2007), but the LAV 6.0 wasn't a bad get either.
  3. Is there a chance we can get some changelogs to look for differences in the on-going SF2 AAR? I have seen quite a few posts commenting that infantry look stickier, which I'm excited for. I'd like to know a bit more if possible.
  4. I remember SF having far more balconies than later titles.
  5. Those are great, and I enjoy using them, but it also means that if I want to play a quick battle as the 45th infantry in Sicily and then another as the 91st division at the Gothic line, I have to quit, move files around and then start up again. I was thinking of something as easy as selecting greatcoats or mixed camo, with all the relevant formations. This would also mean that selections could be made on a unit-by-unit basis, so Cav units have cav insignia (and vehicle markings?) and armour likewise. In BS it could mean that my Russian recce teams are wearing Gorka uniforms, my infantry the digital camo and the rear-echelon types the older flora camo. Right now the US can choose the colour of equipment and Ukranians can pick between two styles of camo which is a step in the right direction.
  6. I agree that QB selection should mirror editor. The addition of the tank platoon into the Russian Recce Battalion (Old) is pretty important, as well as organic jeeps and trucks in the ww2 infantry battalions. I would also like to be able to add special ammo to at least supply trucks if not more vehicles. Having extra 82mm mortar rounds for my on-map mortars or being able to reload a purchased ATGM team without having to get a transport from the ATGM platoon of a separate battalion would be a great addition.
  7. I was just musing on how great an addition hit decals and uniform variations are and thought that maybe having an additional option to have unit insignia would be a good addition. Here are Russian unit patches spotted in Ukraine, that would fit nicely in to CMBS. http://euromaidanpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/russian-arm-patch.pdf
  8. All the tech in the world can't save you if you break and run. I think it's important for the expansion to focus on the soft factors, really flesh out the UKR and RUS rosters, less emphasis on gadgets and more on simple but effective systems like the 2B9 Vasilek.
  9. UKR apparently has 4 BMP-3s. e: I wouldn't mind scenarios with green, poorly motivated Ukrainian troops (a recurring issue in the Donbas War) if they were also ill equipped. As you said, giving fancy toys to troops that break and run at the first sign of trouble hardly happens outside of Arab armies.
  10. I'm guessing the units were mixed because it was a scenario not a QB.
  11. I saw with some hesitation, that I would like my Coyotes and Fenneks to be able to use their masts. There are many scenarios where being able to peek out from over the treeline or behind the hill would be useful.
  12. That's my thinking as well. It's with courage and tenacity that Ukraine has held out so long, not weapons systems. I hope any future module will bring the hundreds of BMP-1s and BTR-80s to the UKR side, not the latest gizmos that have a single unit in service. Heck, even for support D-30 towed guns make up a huge part of the UKR inventory but are absent.
  13. I think if anything, CMBS greatly inflated the fighting ability of the Ukrainians.
  14. I can certainly try to repeat it. What happened was, BMP-3s engaged the enemy at nearly 2000m, well outside of any return fire. During the course of this engagement, about half of the BMPs suffered damaged only to their 30mm guns, without taking fire.
  15. I'm curious how Syrian web gear works. They obviously don't have MOLLE or ALICE gear?
  16. Checking in on this. Also... if any other master maps could be made into quick battles, I'd be stoked!
  17. I've just noticed on larger maps, when BMP-3s are really lobbing those 100mm rounds downrange, they are receiving "hits" that only disable their 30mm guns, and without taking return fire. I'm guessing at high elevations the vehicle is shooting itself. In my last battle on a huge map, with a full battalion, about 50% had damage only to their 30mm guns, and those were the vehicles that had engaged the most at long ranges.
  18. I think this is similar to questions about echelon elements like signals, engineers, medical, logistics. I always though CM engagements started after recce and maneuver, and ended before vehicles were recovered from the AO, fully supply was established, etc. As much as I would like a 50x50km area to operate in complete with little MPs directing traffic and cooks busy in the field kitchens, managing the forward elements of a battalion is already a big scale for the level of detail in the engine.
  19. I'm excited to see this play out. Bill has a good grasp of recce, it's a joy to see such good planning.
  20. I don't want to get into this too much, but this happened while I was with Battlegroup in '08, https://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/capt-robert-semrau-dismissed-from-the-forces/ My $0.02 CAD is having 12th SS kill Canadian prisoners out of hand in CMBN doesn't improve gameplay or immersion. Similarly, I would like to be able to treat enemy casualties in accordance with the LOAC, but I don't think that there should be systems to enable war crimes.
  21. That's a warcrime, in case you weren't aware.
  22. Personally, I keep the OOB and tactics as close to the book as possible. I use formations that would be used for the mission and terrain and not the best use of points.
  23. I think this will be especially relevant in CMSF2 as arty might be the only way for the Syrians to dent certain coalition assets.
  24. Slitherine seems to be doing very well on Steam.
