The state of CMSF2
DougPhresh replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
It's being delayed so Steve can pour over my 1 TB of photos from battlegroup so the Canadians can be represented in excruciating detail, down the to mustaches. Was there ever a follow-up on the hint of a new engine update including rank, insignia and vehicle decals... -
Afrika Korps or Early War?
DougPhresh replied to Mord's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
I would really like to see Early War, but Afrika Korps would bridge the gap fantastically as CMFI already contains a fair bit of the required kit, and when the Afrika Korps is done, the Early War stuff would be right there too. It seems like the best economy of effort, from an outside perspective.- 126 replies

Canada shut down the Air Defense Artillery at about the same time (shame, because ADATS in CM would be great!) -
Mac High Sierra compatibility with CM

I havent had any issues on my macbook to date -
Would it be possible for partisans to come to CMRT and CMFI by way of a pack? Italian/Yugoslav/Soviet Partisans would have pretty similar looks and equipment.

Are there any interesting TOE and OOB changes you can hint at? -

I was in battlegroup in 08, so if anything it's more familiar to me than being forward deployed in the present day. We still had lots of fun toys in the sandbox. Will coalition forces be able to use US air during QBs? We called in A-10s a handful of times but never had the RCAF supporting us on station. -

In Commonwealth militaries you can only grow a mustache like that if you are a senior NCO. The longer they are and the more waxed the tips, the more senior the rank of warrant officer. -

I wish! It's like reading those old Osprey books that said "The Wehrmact uniform in 1944 was such and such" and then turning to the photos and illustrated pages and it's not very uniform at all! -

Steve, Cadpat AR is great, but at least when I was in-country on 1-08 and 3-10 there were combats and helmet covers but the tac vests were mostly TW and so were maybe 30% of the frag vests. If the game is set in 2012 or later though, by then arid tac vests were readily available. -

Question about the screenshot of Syrian infantry shooting at the recce humvee, will trenches be part of the map terrain as in SF or object like in the later titles? e: This is just me hoping to see "myself" in game, any screenshots or info on the Canadians? A tiny, tiny thing I would mention is that most of us deployed with green tac vests, sometimes even green frag vests over the arid uniform. Seeing the uniform arid equipment made me wish we were that well funded! -
CMFI Rome to Victory Bones
DougPhresh replied to Battlefront.com's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Crossposting: In light of the R2V revelations, I'm guessing Co-Belligerents, RSI and a second-look at the Italian OOB in Sicily would be it's own module? What were the most surprising TOE notes? I think I read somewhere that the Commonwealth used Sherman 76s in Italy, which I don't recall them doing in North-West Europe. Looks amazing!! -

I'm just curious what's going on now that we're in Q2

Did anyone post the Flare Path Coverage yet? Includes a screenshot of IS' in the snow! https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/01/19/the-flare-path-catch-of-the-day/ -
Luckily tanks (and even M10s) used far more HE than AP.

If I remember the 17lbr APDS was devastating, if it could connect with the target. Accuracy left much to be desired but penetration would take care of the big cats with no problem.

It's on my reading list. For too much of the Canadian public our military history consists of only Vimy and Juno Beach. I think it's important to remember the Scheldt campaign as that fighting was at least as tough as Normandy if not moreso. -

I’d be happy to have expanded Italians (flesh out the Sicily ToE, Co-Belligerent, Fascists, Partisans) and Operation Dragoon follow Rome to Victory in CMFI. Of course since Canadians went from Italy to North-West Europe for the end of the war there’s no secret for what I want to see in CMFB... -
Combat Mission: Pacific Storm
DougPhresh replied to Ridaz's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
Matrix has a huge success on their hands with TOAW IV right now, and you’ll notice they have hardly any Pacific scenarios. The market just doesn’t seem to be there, and I say that as someone who appeciates the CBI theatre. As an aside, I like to take Regiment-Battalion scale scenarios and recreate some of the more interesting battles in CM or Steel Panthers WW2/MBT. I hope I’m not the only one! -
Fire suppression from small arms discussion
DougPhresh replied to JSj's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
With the return of hull-down, could there be room for the return of some of the other CM1 commands? I wouldn’t mind something between hunt and assault, for instance and it sounds like advance fit the bill. -
Combat Mission: Pacific Storm

Korea might work, since the unit density and TOE isn't radically different from what we have now. CMFI showed that hilly and mountainous terrain works well in the engine.
