Blush I am a beta tester - that's as far on the payroll I will likely get. It is nice trying out new stuff and helping to make things better for everyone. That's reasonable compensation.

@axxe good work. It ties in with my own findings. Fatigue has no noticeable effect on spotting or shooting. The only factor which does is experience.

@dasitmane - The TPGII webmaster and I discovered that "No plan survives contact with the enemy" in scenario design either.  The Proving Grounds II does not effectively support a viable scenario design discussion forum.
Plan B - TPGII is affiliated with The Few Good Men which does possess robust forum discussion capabilities.  FGM now hosts a Scenario Designer's Workshop resources and discussion forum at FGM / Forums / COMBAT MISSION SECTION / CM2 Scenario Design Section
Anyone can view the information posted there.  However, you have to be a registered member of FGM to post comments and questions.  Please let @Bootie or me know what you think.  So, all designer's and those interested in combat mission scenario designer resources, "Cry 'Havoc' and let slip scenario's aplenty!"  Good luck and good game designing.

Actually have no problem with that statement snowflake, but you seem unable to understand the point and not be so subjective.
But hey good idea, Burke’s diplomacy award. Today’s award goes to bulletpoint!

Whenever is soon enough.  My intent is to build a "Scenario Designer Workshop" area on the TPGII Forum pages.  While I have a bunch of references to organize and post initially, the vision is an interactive forum where designers can reach out to each other and post their own scenario design tools as well.  No hurries.  No worries.

TPGII (http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tpg2/) has suffered benign neglect lately.  I am in the process of developing a scenario designer's page at that site.  I have another 1-2 weeks worth of work to do before completing that.  I will post here when it is ready.  Good luck with your own scenario!

My clue, again from reading this forum, is that Battlefront is aware that there are problems, but that they can't do anything about them, because they are driver related. As I understand it, they argue that the graphics card companies such as Nvidia do not implement OpenGL well in their new drivers. Probably because OpenGL is not very used any more in mainstream gaming.
By the way, here's an article I came across, where they compare a modern game (the new Civilization VI) running on OpenGL on a Mac and DirectX on a Windows PC:
"In our tests, the game only achieved about 22 frames per second during an internal benchmark at 1,620 x 1,050 resolution, on medium settings. We ran the benchmark on a 15-inch MacBook Pro with an AMD Radeon Pro 455 graphics card while running in MacOS. The same system hit 66 FPS when we ran the same benchmark on Windows 10."
    https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/why-mac-gaming-is-still-dead/
By the way, I'm not posting this to belittle mac users, nor to praise PC gaming. I hope Mac users can continue to play the game, too.

That would be a great help, thanks.
Hmmmm...I don't think the expense of consulting a lawyer is worth it for a hobby. The differences between the two systems preclude a straight copy, although I do use the maps as a template, but I use some artistic license to make them more suitable for the CMx2 engine. For example, I've attached a screenshot of a section of the board I'm working off,

and also the corresponding section of the CMBN map:

On balance, I think it would probably be best to fictionalise/genericise it and say it's "inspired by...".
This one, by the way is...(ahem)...inspired by the ASL Starter Kit Scenario "Ad Hoc at Chef-du-Pont", which can be downloaded for free from the MMP web site.

Excellent idea. That's what I'll do.

    Thanks.

    Greetings,
My use of the scenario edits has been limited to map-making until now, but I'm keen to try my hand at an actual scenario. I'm starting low-key with a scenario based on small ASL scenario. The map is done and I've added the forces. I'm starting on the AI plans for both sides next.
I'd like to get some advice on the following...
How are the briefing maps created? I think I downloaded some graphics files once but it didn't seem obvious how to use them and I can't find them now. What is the best way to get a scenario tested and where is the best place to look for testers? I had thought it would be The Proving Grounds, but there seems to be little to no activity there. Are there any copyright issues with converting ASL scenarios for CMx2? Is it better not to use the original name and stay away from any reference to ASL? Where is a good source of copyright-free WW2 photos to use as the scenario image? I know Wikipedia specifies copyright details but I've head that this information isn't always correct. Any advice would be appreciated. I hope to have it in a ready-to-test state sometime in the next two weeks.

In CMFI the Italian infantry squad is generally broke down into two large teams.  The disadvantage (and probably the posts you remember John) is that the two Italian teams cannot be further manipulated with the Administrative commands.
The German, Commonwealth and American squads are generally broke down into three teams.  Then under Administrative commands the German, Commonwealth and American player has the following choices: Split Team, Assault Team, Ati-Tank Team, Scout Team and Combine Squad.
This is one of the things that make the Italians more of a challenge to command in a scenario.  IMO it's also one of the interesting things about CMFI.  Really looking forward to the Rome to Victory module.

A fact to which I can readily attest, min ven!  However, the therapy sessions are going much better now and my catatonic fits occur less often . . .
To the points already raised, I suppose it really does depend on what phase you're in at the moment.  Competitive H2H are best served by Meeting Engagements.  Attack and Defense require skills at planning, flexibility in responses, and fortitude in play.  CM games effectively allow players to explore all those approaches as it suits them.  These are games that certainly keep you from getting into any kind of rut.

My experience one with "Probe" mirror match left me dissatisfied.  I felt the burden was on the probing force which lacks sufficient strength to secure defended objectives.  On the other hand, I know a player who prefers Probes to Meeting Engagements for his H2H matches.

“Men grow tired of sleep, love, singing and dancing, sooner than war.”

Enthusiasm for the study of war is not love of war, itself a phenomena as old as humanity.  Human conflict is entwined with our nature and requires self-examination to comprehend.
