  1. So even greater reason not to use the marder in bocage terrain. You cant kill the enemy but can be killed yourself. I am also playing the "keep calm and carry on" scenerio in a PBEM and in that you get a pair of marders. One of them has managed to fire through the bocage though I did have to position it half a dozen times to do so. So it seems a bit hit and miss (more miss) so I dont think I will use them in heavy bocage maps.
  2. I have only noticed it with the marder. However if the marder is stationary in cover in an ambush position and can see but not shoot the sherman then why can the sherman shoot the marder?
  3. Well you just spotted it and now its KO'd. So a quick recap. My marder in tight up to bocage and at a near as 90' as you can get looking at a sherman a couple of hundred metres away for a minute or two. It can see the sherman but cant fire. The sherman eventually spots the marder and fires through the bocage taking it out.... My second marder might as well go home as it cant engage, only be destroyed, in bocage conditions. Maybe a slight over exaggeration but even if it gets an ambush spot it might not be able to fire.
  4. Trees are off and TD is unbuttoned. I have tried a dozen locations on several bits of bocage and the best I can get is a target line exactly 90' to the bocage on a couple of occasions. I havent noticed the problem with tanks, or stugs even, so wondered if it was a problem with marders?
  5. I have only used marders twice in game so I understand this isnt much data to go on but I find it almost impossible to get a firing solution through bocage. I currently have a situation where my marder is tight up against some bocage and can see a sherman 150m away. Whilst it can see the tank I cant target it with the taget selector saying no line of sight from the bocage? Is this because the chassis is longer than the barrel so it doesnt poke through the bocage or is it just my imagination or bad luck? Any one else experienced this? If I am correct then I would suggest thinking twice before purchasing these units in a QB where bocage is present.
  6. In real life yes, unfortunately not in CMBN where they have have IR and radar guided infantry targeting computers.
  7. I am assuming the attacking side gets more points than the defender to purchase units. Does anyone know what the ratio is? Regards
  8. Not wishing to be picky but wasnt it cock, hook and look? The sorority girls (whatever they are) module gets my vote!!!
  9. Not this one but I do notice a few move orders being changed to quick by the AI.
  10. Just an update. The fire mission took place, though delayed, on its completion the arty has become available to other HQ units albeit at about double the call in time.
  11. I don't think we could heap enough praise on all the map and mod makers for all the hard work that goes into keeping this game fresh.
  12. Is there a definitive on this. My FO died during the spotting phase. Do I need to wait 150 turns of the off board arty firing one spotting round per turn until it runs out of ammo?
  13. Just finished watching this - a really great bit of work. If you haven't watched it, believe the hype and check it out. You wont be disappointed.
  14. I agree 100%. 2+2 has to be able to equal 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 otherwise we might as well just play chess. My complaint is that 2+2 shouldn't equal 10,000! I have looked at the above replay a dozen times and tried all sorts of angles and views at max magnification and you can see bugger all. Factor in that there was a sodding great farm house 100% blocking the way until the tank moved forward, instantly spotted the unit and fired a few seconds later and you have an unrealistic event. The situation favoured me so it isn't an I lost whine and I won the battle. My general experience in this game is that tank awareness is far too good. Moaning aside I do think its a great game and haven't been back to any other game since I discovered it a couple of months ago.
  15. Thanks for looking. You also need to factor in that they were spotted in only a few seconds as well. Even one tree canopy ought to make spotting a LOT more difficult. The tank was buttoned with known enemies less than 100m in front and it spotted and fired on a unit 300m away through 6 - 12 tree canopies. I still maintain that this shouldn't have happened.
  16. I am just playing the 18 Platoon and there are a number of preplaced destroyed german tanks and trucks that have the ? above them.
  17. Files sent. I agree with what you say, but spotting through 10 tree canopies and a hedge at 300m with a buttoned tank in a split second is another issue alltogether.
  18. If you PM me your email address I will email you the file. The target was on the entire opposite side of the map and only a ?. My tank had no direct line of site then moved forward whilst buttoned turned its turret and fired all in about 10 seconds. There were no units with a radio that could see the target either. I replayed the turn a couple of times and even on max zoom I couldn't see the target through the mass of trees.
  19. There is a serious issue with tank awareness. My PIV (buttoned) fired through about 10 trees and a hedge at a concealed flank infantry target at 300m with less than a 10 second spotting team.
  20. Well I doubt its in C2 as its the only tank left and there is little inf around. One of the squads game from a blind position so they could have only been spotted for a few seconds. I accept that there is an element of luck and the tank crew skill level will play a part but my general experience, not just this time, is that they spot too easily.
  21. Exactly!!! In that situation you would expect the squad leaders to put their handbags away and get the job done!!
  22. From my limited experience tank crew awareness is a little to good. Should a buttoned tank be able to spot a solitary soldier sneaking up behind it whilst it is firing at a unit in front? Spin its turret round fire, then spin around again to hit another unit running in from the other side, all in less than 30 seconds? I could just about believe it if unbuttoned, how good were the periscopes?
  23. The reason why it wouldn't hook up is I had the ammo bearer team already in the jeep. As there wasn't any space for the gun crew they wouldn't hitch the weapon. Perhaps they thought that once it was hitched up it would drive away into the sunset never to be seen again!!
