Regarding CMx1, CMAK. Does not appear to be an issue in CMBB: Certain terrain features are not showing up on in my game. I do not know when it first happened, but I have recently noticed it within the last few weeks. Cemetary and Rocky terrain tiles are not graphically representing themselves in the game. I can see they are there when issuing movement commands, but I do not "see" them on the tactical map at any zoom level. I can live without seeing the tomb stones, as from what I've heard they aren't the best cover nor impedance to my motorized vehicles. But the rocky terrain issue is quite aggravating. I've considered swapping in new textures, but I'm not quite adept at using GAJ's website. Furthermore I can't put my finger on how many seasons, territories, etc. this affects my game. It seems that no matter the conditions, they are not showing up period. Trouble shooting efforts: I just loaded up the map editor and placed both textures on the map. When I viewed it in the terrain viewer, they were not there. (I lassoed them in with marsh terrain to reassure me it wasn't all the textures that weren't working.) I even reinstalled and brought my game back up to 1.3, still, no dice. Anyone have this happen to them before? Any idea for fixes? (PS: It appears that when I isolated what I believe to be the rocky terrain from Aristotle's Arid rock's mod, the terrain files within the BMP folder were damned near identical, IE: the BMP file is there, its just not being read.) Unfortunately I am mostly newish to Modding CMx1, but I am also cognizant that this at least helps me cancel out mod issues as to why this is occurring. I can't remember ever downloading a terrain mod and even if I did, I would have thought the re-installation of the game would have fixed this. I've done everything short of a total nuke. Again, I reinstalled my copy, thinking even if I did load up a mod at some point it would be whitewashed with the original files. Any help would be much appreciated, and if a mod will quickly remove this error, (... not sure how but perhaps just with new BMP files) I am more than willing to use it. As stated previously, I am new, but definitely open to suggestions to great visual mods for this game.)

Your tactics appear sound. I'd say start beating up on the Computer via perhaps Quick Battle (with infantry vs infantry or perhaps mech v mech. Force selections are screwy when you start including armor.) Once you are better at that, take on some of the harder scenarios and operations. The only thing left to do after that is to start finding PBEM games online! (Or RT if you are lucky and know how to use Hamachi at that point!)

It has been a while since I played RT, but one game with ?Opelblitz? or some such through hamachi always sticks in my mind. Sometimes I wish RT wasn't so complicated to set up (h2h of course), but oh well, that is a whole other animal. Getting my butt kicked by Bradley PBEM, however, was amazing. Took me a very long time to realize I was losing that one!

I'm super confused, did 1979 or whatever his name is actually **** on the game? From what I've read, he has taken quite the opposite approach in other threads. Then again, its 7:44 where I am, and I didn't wait until 5:00.

On the other hand, I never had this problem when I originally downloaded the 1.0 demo a year or so ago... and after purchasing CMBN vanilla I didn't either. Oh well.

I screwed around with my anti-virus for a bit here, as I have experienced the same problems when originally trying to install the CW demo in order to decide whether or not I wanted to purchase the game. What I have done is run the installation program as an administrator. While it was taking its requisite 10 minutes to open, my virus scan informed me it had quarantined and deleted a (my memory isn't working well right now) a "Hellenistic" virus. (Kinda f'd up to hate on us Greeks like that). Anyways, I told the program, which was Norton Antivirus to ... shoot, forgetting terms here again, told it to take it back from quarantine, and ignore it from now on. This was all before I accepted the fact that CMFI was attempting to access my computer. Having done this, the .bin file or whatever offender it was ran smoothly. As it is still installing as I write this, I'll let you... eh what am I talking about just keep reading here... yes it has worked. I think the Norton anti-virus is worried about the low amount of people who have downloaded this .exe, which I believe is extracted from the Setup.exe and therefore is looked at as some type of trojan or what have you. Wow... I hope someone can articulate this better than myself. Anywho, it appears to be working. I've disabled my anti-virus in the past to install the demos, apps, what-have-you, only to have them deleted upon reboot. Because I managed to tell my anti-virus to stop quarantining and deleting this essential file, I think my problems solved permanently. Now its just time for some techie to translate this into actual text. Hope you figure it out buddy! I think I got lucky here, managing to capture it before I ran the setup. Just make sure to run it as admin, as that seems to always solve windows related problems. Sucks that you paid for these programs to run, and they aren't working. I'm just dealing with the Demos!!

Why are people even bothering to reply to this garbage?

Just got done installing CMBN vanilla on my other computer. Everything was fine as far as installation and everything else. The game opened up, sound worked, it all seemed fine except for what I can only describe as crud being around all the text. This does not happen on my main Desktop. When I begin a battle, I get to the Briefings screen. I can click through the pages, and the sound works (IE: I can hear soldiers idly chatting with each other). As soon as I click begin, however, the game does its little pause (but apparently still working) shtick and then finally cuts out and pops up an error telling me its crashed. Has anyone else encountered this error? I think it has something to do with the "crud" as this stuff is all around the text buttons and before anything else happens screams (at least to my mind) ERROR. (independent of it crashing, but I assume they must be connected.) Any ideas? I couldn't seem to find anything on this or any related board... even tried googling it. Thanks in advance- Colin

Mord you are a genius. Part of that is because you are unique. Part of that is because people take the time to realize you are different. Part of that is because people noticed your extensive signature. Part of it was because it began with self-deprecating mock praise. I can't remember which thread it was in that brought up your lengthy signature, but ignore it. They are like little citations that make you seem mas credible. At the very least, its funny that you put them up; having gotten to know your avatar's personality a little bit better. Anyways, for some reason it seemed to me that this wasn't that far off topic. Keep pumping out awesome work, because for every one person that comments, there are ten to twenty viewing with their own opinions. I think that might be a cliche by now in this tech driven society; but oh well, I like Combat Mission.

2 things. Taki are you from Close Combat Community? Behind the PACMOD if I remember correctly? secondly, I don't think there is anything wrong with this game that can't be figured out by patches. (Now if they would release one occasionally....) 2 things. Taki if you are indeed from Close Combat then you can attest to the inherent importance of patches. I was actually surprised that Battelfield or whomever runs this franchise had only released one patch when I purchased it within the last year. Not that I am implying that the more patches a game has had over the course of its run means that it is better or worse. But anyone can admit that more patches=less bugs (i'll ignore improvements to the base game for arguments sake). And that's good for everyone. secondly, I, although often speaking critically, do not believe that the current pace of patch releases (given the KT et al. being "not pretty enough" comments going around) is a problem. But I love bitching about it. Still can't work my head around the idea of me purchasing this module on a whim in order to play the game on an impulse buy. I wonder what kind of incentives they have to buy online... maybe that could be my tipping point.

actually, if this isn't G marketing I don't know what is... I've never noticed it myself ,and I obviously haven't either seen screenies or video showing a shift in command, but... hmmm... how can I put this. I don't see any stress in this situation, if anything, its just one more mystery of the game that I don't fully understand yet. It seems that every time I learn a new feature, its only after a week of "WTF" and a month of "no one cares". So congrats programmers, this is a feature that I appreciate. Defintely gives gamer a reason to protect those back up units. I don't know if this is unique to CW forces, or the same thing as XO team is to CO commander and above. Meh, its late here. I think at least someone should understand what I mean by all this.

BadgerDog, really liked your site. Didn't know it was yours! I checked out the Mosin 91/30 that is on there. Great attention to detail. Almost derailed my entire day... Definitely bookmarked. At my local gun shop they had a Garand, Arisaka, and Mosin. The Mosin was more within my price range : D (But what a rifle!)

Oh, and for those of you who think I am being impatient (although I clearly am...) let me rephrase my statement above: I have to wait until Friday until I can even entertain the idea of spending my disposable income on this game. So in reality, it might be another couple weeks until I can budget this CW module.

And I have seen several times that this patch (for the original vanilla game) will be coming out soon... so its not out yet? * I really hope that it is, because it would be odd if I'd have to wait. Or purchase CW, to keep up with my opponents in the vanilla games we are playing. * after speaking with someone on the brilliant third party chat and gaming platform known as steam, I had some reiterate the "approx. 14 days" comment. Well I'm glad that in Battlefront's, or whoever is directly in charge of this game, eyes', I am a second class gamer. I don't like the precedence that has been set. (I know people were waiting forever for the CW module to come out... but really? I have to wait up to two weeks to continue my games... unless I purchase CW. I hope this didn't come from the same brilliant minds who decided that modules were for content and not interface improvements. Smacks of corporate horse manure. Please tell me I am wrong, and direct me to a link.

I have to wait until Friday until I can purchase the CW module. But first, I want to continue my PBEM games I have currently running. Where do I find the 1.10 patch? Both of my opponents have upgraded... does that mean they have purchased CW, or does it mean that they have found the patch elsewhere? I am not an idiot, but I am so excited to play my next turn that I can't think straight. Where the heck can I download this patch? MY MEN NEED ME!
