  1. Yeah I think its time to finally suck it up and grab CMRT again... I'll never figure out where the heck that damned key is.
  2. Been looking for an excuse to finally try out CMFI... here goes! EDIT: Guess I'll snag the modules too...
  3. Am I the only one who gets really confused when the dans start talking to each other?
  4. Ironic that you, of all people, are now using the term strawman.
  5. Flemfire, the way you argue invites criticism. In fact, all you seem to do is argue and pat yourself on the back. I enjoy lurking this thread, maybe you should do the same.
  6. I don't think it's just the weather that's impairing those folks.
  7. I don't mean to be rude but what's really new here that we didn't learn in the opening phases of the "SMO"?
  8. “Outspoken”… you can say that again
  9. Very interesting stuff over the last few pages!
  10. Just for those of us a bit slower than the others, I figured I would add my brief experience with the white flashbangs. I was able to get it fixed. I don't know how long it's been since I last played Combat Mission, perhaps a few months. I've been having odd issues with my AMD graphics card for a bit now. Odd instances in other games. I've checked... often... my drivers through the windows device manager in the control panel, and it would always tell me everything was up to date. It wasn't until I tried to access my AMD software (right click on the desktop and it should come up in the drop down menu, in my case it comes up as AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition) that I realized something was really wrong. I received an error message "Windows Update May Have Automatically Replaced Your AMD Driver". I'll admit it took me quite a bit of work to get my AMD drivers back running the show. Most articles you'll see online tell you to simply roll back your driver in order to get it working again (I would imagine there might be a few steps in addition to that, but that's the general gist of it). I did not have this option, which led me down a rabbit hole of attempting to figure out which AMD driver my laptop came with, and attempting to download that particular one (I have an Acer Swift 3). Long story short, I was unable to figure it out on my own. This is where I diverged a bit from most of the information that I had been reading up until this point. I went to the following website: https://www.amd.com/en/support. I simply clicked on the button "download windows drivers". After running the program, I was able to right click on my desktop and open the AMD software. From their home screen I was able to see that my driver did need updating and once it was installed the white flashes from explosions issue for CM went away. ---- In my instance windows was telling me my graphics card was up-to-date. I think it was looking at the generic one that allows you to setup windows when you first purchase the laptop. It appears to be an issue from when windows went through a recent update. At any rate, once AMD's software was running, it was able to tell me that the driver was in fact out of date and then update it for me. I really hope this helps someone out there, it was a bit frustrating doing the troubleshooting but once I found the website linked above it was practically a five minute job.
  11. The kind of footage that makes you want to spam Z to get a better look at the action.
  12. Steve was right about coming back to this thread with 4 new pages over the last day.
  13. John, having read your last post, I’m sincerely hoping for a vacation coming your way soon. the crisis actor “application” regarding the Boston bombing (for those of you who understand Reddit, read the section it was posted to) is the final straw for me. You truly are acting like a buffoon.
  14. I like the Grant (or the Lee). I just think they’re neat. Ugly? T-60s and 70s.
  15. I think it might have something to do with the nature of the 4.0 update. It creates what I would imagine are place holders for the various modules, which again I think is neat. Unfortunately I think they also slightttttttly tweak the base game files. looking at the set up folder (I access it via a link battlefront sends me in my receipt) it includes an executable file with the various .brzs for all the different modules. Maybe I can pull them out manually, and run the executable with just the base game files (ver 1.2, 2.0, 3.0 so on) or just drop them in my game folder (assuming of course that’s how either of these things work).
  16. I've opened CM Battle for Normandy v403 Installer.exe to reinstall. I notice that in the folder where it is located, it has all of the .brz files for every version and every module of the game. I've gone back and looked at the files/folders made available to me at the link battlefront provided, and I see options for version 3.0 and 4.0. I downloaded the full 3.0 and installed it. Then I downloaded the full 4.0 installer and installed that as well. Maybe I could have installed the full 3.0 and saved myself some time and just installed the upgrade version of 4.0. Okay I'm making myself dizzy now. Hopefully the reinstall works.
  17. I appreciate you gents helping to get me on track. Ian I only have the basegame. IIRC, I installed the game from battlefront.com, found my activation key from an old email, and then purchased the 4.0 upgrade from the same website. Having just checked the bottom right of the screen, I see that I am upgraded to 4.03. I downloaded the full installer, which apparently includes upgrades for all the modules. I'm going to recheck to see if there's an installer that upgrades just the basegame. I'm looking at the flamethrower issue as a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself.
  18. I should be able to requisition flame throwers? So maybe I have something wrong with my installation? They are selectable when I’m picking a force, they just don’t show up on the map. Can anyone else with the most up to date game, with only the base game installed, replicate this issue? I’m not overly upset that I can’t use flamethrowers; I’m just wondering if I’ve done something to my installation. I’ve never had this issue before with other forces, either I could use them with my module, or I couldn’t not. I figured they’d be greyed out or simply not listed. thanks for the reply
  19. I just want to preface this with the acknowledgement that this probably isn't the first time this was brought up. That being said I couldn't find anything via google or on this forum's search engine. If anyone has a link I would appreciate it. I've recently updated my original copy of CMBN to 4.0. I've noticed that although I only have the base game, all of the scenarios and campaigns that one might find with all of the modules are listed. When I highlight one, the game lists at the bottom the name of the module I would need to play the game. This is all well and good, its nice to know whats out there and with what I've seen of the 4.0 update, I might finally want to purchase a few modules. I include this information however, to help diagnose or at the very least explain what I think is going on here. I've noticed with both the german army and the americans, flame throwers are available in the force selection screen. Admittedly I haven't played the game in nearly 5 years, but I don't recall them ever being available. When they are selected, they do not appear on the map. I can't recall if its the entire section, or just the teams themselves, but regardless, the points I spent on these forces are gone forever. So now I know not to select flamethrowers. Is this something I introduced when I upgraded to 4.0? (IE: I screwed up the patch?) Working off the assumption that I am not the first person to happen upon this problem, my question would be: Has anyone compiled a list of non-compatible units? Are there other units I could select that aren't going to be on the map? Would this affect PBEM games with opponents who have all the modules? Thanks
  20. Just wanted to bump this topic. From what I understand, SF2 had the packaged campaigns upgraded as far as touch objectives and the like to improve the AI. I'm playing one at the moment and its been a blast. I was curious if any of the original campaigns for CMBN were upgraded, or if there is a new campaign (perhaps released within the last couple years) that the community likes. I have been out of the loop for the last 4 or so years.
  21. Just figured I’d see if I can help diagnose what’s going on here. Just purchased this game off steam this morning. I was playing a Warrior skill game in real-time as blue against red. I very rarely play real time, so I brushed it off as something that SF2 was trying to model. So far it only seems to affect real time games, and apparently the difficulty doesn’t matter with regards to spotting either.
  22. Hi guys, was curious if anyone was interested in starting a QB PBEM game. I live on the east coast of the united states... in years past I was able to complete a turn or so every day, I could do 5-7 turns a week depending on whether or not we're completing turns around the same time each day. I currently only have the basegame of CMBN, but will probably expand in a bit here. Has anyone had any experience with Ian's Whose Turn is It? So far I have dropbox and Ian's program. Can't remember if I would need anything else. Preference towards a SM battle as this would be my first in maybe 4-5 years. Sorry if I've left this in the wrong spot, I didn't see a multiplayer forum but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. Hope everyone is doing well. [Edit: Yup, wrong forum... while you're here, might be worth mentioning that I also just picked up CMSF2 w/all bundles off steam... off to the opponent finder forum]
