  1. I understand the jadgtiger is in the game, don’t know what year, month or region? That said, it’s not in any of the docs for the game? Was this just an oversight?
  2. Having this same problem on my Macbook Pro M1 Pro..
  3. Would a native Apple Silicon be in the works?
  4. Usually Hapless has s great video but I can't for the life of me find this map >
  5. No, running Apple Silicon MacBook Pro M1 max.
  6. Thanks everyone.. glad i'm not alone here and the game works really nicely tho in game mode.
  7. So, what I'm seeing is totally normal and I won't see Fire and Rubble? I've done a completely clean install with license removal (script from John) and reinstalled and still the same "Total Destruction" as the name for the mod. If this is totally normal and not something I need to worry about, then cool. I thought somehow the game was compromised and I needed to have the correct module names. All that said, anyone have any idea on why I don't see the loading screen from when you select a battle until you get to the briefing dialogue (screen). I don't see a picture of a Stug with a blue status bar slowly moving across (I did see it flash once at the end of the sequence and the briefing screen came up). That said, I can't see to figure out why it's not showing.. but, c'est la vie, the game still loads and runs.. rather well. I'm assuming these little issues are related to Apple Silicon or Monterey OS.
  8. I've found the following in CMRT (John in Tech Support is helping me through this, very nice man). The loading from selecting a battle to the actual briefing is a black screen with a stuck mouse cursor... you wait, and eventually see the battle briefing.. this is different from my Intel experience on a Mac, where you would see a picture of a tank and a status bar loading, this isn't working for me, tho I do get to the briefing eventually and this really isn't a problem per say, just getting used to it. My licenses are all messed up, not sure exactly what is happening, but my Fire and Rubble license is reflected at "total destruction" and I've cleaned and installed it now three times. john is helping me here, but I'm waiting on an un-license script to start all over and John has been a saint here.. that said, the game runs still and it appears everything is there, but we are working to make it appear as it should no more status bar between turns as someone said above. Performance is really good actually, far better than what I remember on Intel. The speed of movement and turns is great no issues really. I have everything pretty much turned on high and I could never do that before on my Mac Intel laptop. So this is really nice. Overall, I wish it was Apple Silicon native and maybe one day we will get there, but overall Rosetta2 works great and I have no complaints.
  9. I have CMRT 3 and I updated it to 4 with fire and rubble. When I went to activate my licenses, I got a blank screen and nothing to enter in. I finally started the “Activate your new license” file and it presented me with serials to enter. I entered in my v4 license first and then fire and rubble. However the name of fire and rubble is “Total Destruction”. I have all licensed and the (including v3). And it appears to be working, all maps and game play seems good. does having the wrong mod title displayed bad? Am I missing content? I don’t also have a load screen when you select a battle and watch it load, it just goes to black and hangs for a few seconds and then you see the briefing. I remember seeing a picture of a stug and a status bar. This isn’t there anymore. i tried a clean install (remove everything) and reinstalled and the title for fire and rubble was “total destruction “ and it seemed all the other licenses were already activated. So I’m guessing I didn’t do a true clean uninstall and reinstall. I even tried the installer from the v4 game and no v3 binary and no joy, all the same.
  10. I tried searching on this topic, but I only found those who virtualized windows on Apple Silicon and got it working. Has anyone got it working (Red Thunder/Fire&Rubble) under native Apple Silicon using (I assume here) Rosetta2? Does it run well or is it inconsistent? Running a Macbook Pro M1 Max, which is the latest machine from Apple.
  11. Whenever I see the "what if's" about the eastern front I can only come away with the feeling that "these what if's" would have lengthened the struggle, not changed it. I believe firmly, that even if Moscow is taken in '41, the Russians by '43 would have started to roll back the German tide. When you couple the western front with the eastern front, you can only come away with "they lose.." I am too interested in playing in the '42-43 time period, something along the lines of Velikie Luki or Kharkov 3.. Again, the day the German army stepped into Mother Russia, the war was lost for them, and thankfully.
  12. Hummm.. interesting test. I usually load out AAA for my German units and I have yet to see a plane shot down or driven away. That said, I asked a similar question .. "how do shot down planes get modeled?" and no one had yet seen one shot down.. so, I'm guessing this is a very rare occurrence. That said, I don't know what the amount of ammo per kill was in WWII for ground attack aircraft, I would imagine it was rather high, that said, I would also imagine that gunner routinely "drove off" attacking aircraft.. which never seems to happen no matter how many guns I have on the map. I'd be curious to see if others have seen "planes shot down" and/or "driven off".. because, in all the games I've played, I've never seen it happen once.
  13. Why is it that the Heer Units have PanzerFausts as part of their TO&E and the Waffen SS units do not? When I go to check the opel trucks or even some Hammogs for additional PanzerFausts during dismount, they don't exist for SS Battalions and they do exist for Heer Battalions? Bug?
  14. This is kinda gamey.. It would be nice to take towed AA guns into combat and then deploy them against tanks or infantry. It seems that well trained gun crews could do the work in 5-10 min, depending on quality. That said, it somewhat neuters the Soviet side with the inability to bring these guns into the theater map..
  15. Personally. I would enjoy trying my hand with lesser tech against soviet armor in the mid '42 period. Where the Germans began practicing with Panzer Jaeger units culled together from bolting on guns to Frankenstein concoctions. Anyway.. That would be fun. The Nazis can thank god they integrated air defense into their basic infantry battalion structure otherwise, they would have been in big trouble.
  16. Wait.. there are a ton of source material for Bagration.. I mean, some of it obscure, but many not. For example, here are some books on the subject: (I got some of these from Wikipedia, but I've read some of them too) Beevor, Antony; Vinogradova,, Luba, eds. (2006). A Writer at War: Vasily Grossman with the Red Army. (great book) - READ Glantz, David M.; House, Jonathan (1995). When Titans Clashed: How the Red Army Stopped Hitler (another good book - READ) Glantz, David M. (2002). The Battle for L'vov, July 1944 - READ Buchner, Alex (1991). Ostfront 1944: The German Defensive Battles on the Russian Front 1944 - Not read. Bagration 1944: The Destruction Of Army Group Centre (Campaign) (Osprey book, excellent) Anyway.. even the web has tons of materials on the battles: Here is a US Army Study on Bagration: http://usacac.army.mil/cac2/cgsc/carl/download/csipubs/connor.pdf http://ww2days.com/bagration-operation.html Anyway.. I'm sure in some of these materials, small tactical battles can be surmised and developed. That said, Bagration from a tactical point of view is perfect for a CM game, the materials, units and other TO&E are "of the good stuff" on both sides.. Anyway.. I can't wait for the drive on Berlin and the Op Spring Awakening and Seelow Heights.. I could go on and on.. Love it far more than the Western Front, but I've always been an Ost Front guy.
  17. I guess MikeD makes my point.. it's hard, ney impossible to move a legacy game from one engine to another, even in the same game universe.. I remember when I first played CMBN and the small/medium sized maps were not as enjoyable as say, "the passage" was when I first opened CMRT..). I think this is the result of a clean start, and them having the benefit of hindsight with the previous iterations. I mean, I've always wondered how one could make a game like this with three separate pieces, Maps, Units, and Game Engine.. with each plugging and playing into one another.. and do as well as they have ... I'm not complaining, quite the contrary, I'm in awe of how they have done as well as they have.. just that I realized when I was playing H2H in CMRT how much more fun I was having then when doing the same experience, even in the same code base in CMBN.. and it was really about the experience, fidelity, etc in this latest version..as opposed to my experience in the latter. I can't wait for CMBB (battle of the bulge) and see what goodies that will bring to the engine, as they start again, from a clean start...
  18. I think I just want to point out that I believe the continual upgrading of the engine is difficult.. that said, I believe the clean slate of CMRT is reflective of a more mature gaming experience vs. CMBN..
  19. Does the engine seems cleaner? faster? That said, the units SEEM to not do as many DUMB things (path'ing).. sadly tho, we still get one-shot wonder "Heinz" with his 88mm Pak 41/43 penetrating an IS-2 at 4k M, but I digress.. I was trying to explain how hard it can be to modify an existing game engine and move it up to higher and higher fidelities today with another friend of mine in software development. It's not easy, and I think we see this quite clearly with CMRT vs. CMBN. Not to say that CMBN isn't fun, it's just that when I play CMRT I have a much better experience with larger maps, cleaner color palette, etc. (I know you can make large maps in CMBN, but the speed and fidelity aren't there IMO). I wonder what other people think? I mean, I am a Ost Front fan boy, but still, I enjoy the challenge of Normandy and the different TO&E in that game (as well as it's lost cousin CMFI), but i'm left wondering if the game experience isn't as good as when I play H2H on CMRT.. which I love to do and it seems to have a far better outcome game wise.. Do others agree? I mean, how hard is it to add tank riders to CMBN? I would think NOT hard, but clearly hard enough that it wasn't added.. and it wasn't because of military doctrine..it was because the bits and bytes don't play nice together I'm sure.. I mean, add it in in CMRT and not in CMBN? Not trolling.. rather curious if others think the game experience in CMRT is better than the other titles in the CMx2 engine?
  20. sadly.. this is a game and the mechanics are sometimes a bit.. well.. worrisome. I had two Tigers knocked out by one 57mm Zis at 400m (side shots mind you) slight after a Nerberwerfer 300mm swarm on the gun formation (general area, at least I heard the guns).. The barrage only managed to wound three of the gun crew and knockout NONE of the guns.. now, I would think the concussion alone from 300mm rockets would have incapacitated any crew within a 100 m radius.. but, Yakov was drunk and the concussions got him sober only to shoot the f'ing AT at the тигр.. ура ура ура
