  1. LOL the system is explainable and consistent - now at least. Between that and new versions have a higher number than older ones is all that is required. Having people be confused is just the way the world is.
  2. No that will not cause any conflicts. I am certain for a PC install. Only pretty sure for a Mac install.
  3. Sounds good. Make it easy and just download a new all in one installer. It will install a fully patched game in one go.
  4. Over at the gaming site theblitz.org we have a ladder where you score for playing games. The modifier gives more points for larger games.
  5. You probably already have it. It was added to the all in one installer after it was released and it was shipped with a patche (2.10 I believe). So if you have a fully patched 2.12 install then all the content is on your HD. What you need to do is activate it.
  6. When I read that I thought you were going to say "coaster or my drink" I had been using CDs and then DVDs as coasters since 1994 - I ran out a few years ago.
  7. Internal discussion started and the issue has been fixed. The next time SF is patched you guys will get to see this.
  8. Yeah sounds about right... If you hover over his avatar the popup window has a "Ignore User" option towards the bottom. It sure is nice not to read some of the silliness and vitriol that some members on the page tend to spew. I highly recommend ignoring those people.
  9. It did work that way in CM1. You actually got control over the surrendering soldier and were able to issue move orders. CM is about combat not prisoner management so this new way is simpler but does not detract from the game.
  10. Had me worried there. http://www.combatmission.lesliesoftware.com/index.html seems to be up and running for me.
  11. Yeah this thread strayed away from the OP's request about buildings and was all over the map. I used the 81mm mortar vs bunker in an example when discusing bugs.
  12. Yes. The DRM is activation count based. If you have had to reactivate many times over the years due to upgrades to your computer you might find you have run out. If that happens contact support they should be able to help you out. If you have only ever activated your game the one time then that will not be an issue. I have run - don't forget that on many note books you need to configure the games to be run using the better graphics card.
  13. I went to update the FAQ post and found I had already. I just didn't fix my browser saved links. Now I have. Thanks.
  14. I'm cool with that. If you don't want these topics to flair up don't peddle drivel expecting it to go unchallenged.
  15. Sounds good. That makes sense. Don't help your enemy. Gotcha makes perfect sense. Players have a lot of hats to wear. Sounds reasonable Good thoughts.
  16. Yes it was tweaked. The flight response was toned down - quite a lot. The change that was made to help the TacAI get out from under a artillery barrage when men did not have good cover was a problem. It introduced the side effect that troops turned and ran for cover really easily. So, you are playing the game with that stuff fixed. Sorry - not what you wanted to hear. Having said that... C2 matters quite a bit. Squads and teams in C2 are less likely to get wobbly. And as you are no doubt totally aware being part of the side winning the battle for fire power also helps a lot. When you are trying to move into new ground try to have a scout that stays in C2 so that before you commit more teams you have an idea of where the enemy is. Use that info to plan area fire orders on the enemy locations and how you will manoeuvre to get those opportunities. I'm probably not tell you stuff you don't already know you likely just need to learn to get the soldiers in game to do what you want. Check this post and thread out which talks about C2 in the game: C2 & Information Sharing - Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy - Battlefront.com Community
  17. So, what would you do to the scenario? Live with OpFor having thermal optics or bump the number of tanks up? I am curious in real life what would tankers do? As your tank company take casualties and tanks become combat ineffective what is SOP in a running battle like this? Do tankers just dynamically cooperate like this? Does the tempo slow to bring the remains of a platoon back together? Just curious what would happen in real life. For sure. I have done that to an opponent. Got an early break and caught several loaded Bradleys in open with a couple of T90s in a much smaller battle. In two minutes I took advantage of his mistake and totally broke his attack. Even though there was more fighting, really, the battle ended there. Those two statements are not congruous. If your opponent had an opportunity (even if they didn't capitalize on it) to savage your tank force and or your loaded infantry the I do not believe you can see you did everything correctly. I see that in general you trying not to fall into the trap of "I won therefore I have nothing to learn" but these sentences stand out for me. Please note I am not saying I wouldn't have made less mistakes or anything I am just pointing out you have an opportunity for learning here that I don't think you are taking advantage of. Also note I actually don't know what the better tactical action would have been. It could be an interesting discussion. Hell yeah! Excellent write up and very entertaining and informative. Well done. I'll get an up vote on that post eventually - I'm out, again, for today.
  18. But can you still get disks and manuals sent to you? I never did buy them and turned down stuff being sent to me - electronic docs only for me since 1999.
  19. I certainly don't go for that type of activity . I am certain that none of our Russian forum mates are in the habit of doing this either. The people are not the same as their government. It is a problem in some parts of the world though and at the hands of dictators.
  20. Then I apologize for taking it that way BTW that bug was logged and fixed. Just recently I found that there were still some issues surrounding pillbox walls and a new bug has been logged. Just in case anyone wonders...
