Patch ?...Small Arms Lethality increase
A Canadian Cat replied to JoMac's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Well, I have nothing to add to the unrealistic casualties comment but I will say this: with the older patch level you could rush an MG nest with a platoon of infantry and take it out with some casualties but still have an effective platoon afterwards. After the patch if you try to do the same thing you will only succeed about half the time and even when you do your platoon will be spent. To me it seems to be much better now. Tactically speaking it net seem right to me that the correct course of action to deal with an enemy MG was to just rush it. -
Patch ?...Small Arms Lethality increase

For CMBN, I do not think that it ever will be. The change was part of the 2.0 engine update. For CMFI all versions have the change. -
Probably a lot like this:

Very cool. Given that they can hit and bounce off trees I wonder it the could hit each other mid flight. Now that would be wild.
-
It should also be noted that they have a bunch of regular volunteer testers that listen here and report issues that they hear about. Sometimes they get involved in the thread and sometimes they tell you they logged the issue.

I like Paint.net as well but it does not support 32bit bitmaps (with an alpha channel). I have been dabbling with some icon work and found GreenFish Icon Editor and I am very happy with it for doing this work.

That is the part that I *do* find annoying. The canceling of an existing pause is the part that causes surprises and the reason it would be nice to see this fixed. Well sure but most of the times this bites me it is not a question of trying to time things to the second. It is simply a case of I want my Platoon HQ to lag behind the rest of the men so he gets a longer pause. Then due to this bug oops suddenly my HQ is leading the way.

New Opponant for Red Thunder
A Canadian Cat replied to slysniper's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Yeah Weapon42 (aka Weapon2010) is currently forth (measured by ELO) on the ladder and my record against him contains a bit of luck. I certainly learned from playing on the ladder. I started out only playing people way above me. I have kind of gotten away from that a bit - time to refocus and challenge the top players and get my hinnie handed to me again:-) Once some slots open up... -
New Opponant for Red Thunder
A Canadian Cat replied to slysniper's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Yep, and you can do that while winning or loosing. I think we have a similar attitude towards playing. I have played and am playing @slynipper - he *is* good. I have no idea what our record because I am terrible at keeping track but he is one of the more challenging opponents I have faced. I am ACanadinCat over at the Blitz. -
Oh, no. Now we have to create movie trailers for our scenarios!
-
Yep, I suspect that this will reveal the "real" issue with balance in Attack Quick Battles: that the points spread is too big for a defender to have much chance. Try a Probe QB instead - I have found that leads to a more "balanced" game.

Do tank pivot speeds need quickening up?
A Canadian Cat replied to Odin's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Yeah but that happens sometimes with tank vs tank engagements too. A better solution is what the TC would probably do in real life - tell the driver to stop turning then the gunner is ready to aim an fire and then get the driver turning again while the next round is loaded. That way they would get some rounds off. -
+1 to all that I'm not sure if I give much leeway though, other than for language barriers. Live is too short to deal with young or old rude boors.
-
I think I got "QB meeting engagement" ed out - played to many of them. Lately I have been having fun with mirrored QB Probes. By that I mean same map set to Probe defending in one and attacking in the other. So, the map is the same but the forces are a total surprise and since you have one opportunity as defender and one as attacker there is plenty to do. That is when I am not playing scenarios blind that is.
-
That is interesting. For me my mission is clear but accomplishing it with Tigers hiding all over the place - that is another matter . I know I scored some early hits but that sure has stopped and now I can't find the buggers (well other than the one that is blasting my infantry at the moment)
-
Ouch but I know what you mean. There certainly have been a few uncomfortable moments with some opponents. When that happens I "fire" them and don't play the again. Over the last year or so I have built up a group of opponents, your self included BTW, that I totally trust to play scenarios blind and be fair. It is very satisfying. In fact, recently one of my opponents admitted he does not use a password on his turns any more when playing me. Wow, scary level of trust - and he cannot even punch me in RL.

March scenarios are a bit delayed. The blitz team is doing a major update to the site. To improve security and add some ladder play features. As a result things are bit behind. The new site goes live on March 15th and with the improved security of the site every member will have their password reset and a new default password mailed to them (along with instructions for setting to your choice). For full information on how to verify that your email is correct read this thread.
