  1. I'm not sure who said it either but this is correct.
  2. No Only it there is a blast-able target right next to them. See the example in my car linked above.
  3. One of which would be yet another place where the player has an advantage over the AI. +1
  4. Well they are not really supposed to but check this out ... If you use some large calibre artillery you can vaporize some steel that way too.
  5. You don't have to but for your own sanity you probably should. I have a folder named 'u' that contains sub folders for each uniform mod and then the contents of that mod are in that sub folder. So the path to one uniform mod looks like this: C:\Users\Name\Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission\Red Thunder\User Data\Mods\u\CoolGermanUniformMod
  6. The short answer is there are issues. Here are two threads on the subject both of which have suggestions for NVida cards (might be some info in there on ADM card I'm not sure). Performance and quality tips for NVIDIA Performace Discission With some input from Steve The overall AI attack plan is scripted by the scenario author so they can do the human wave thing but usually it is more subtle than that especially in the newer titles which have some move options for scenario authors to create more reaction into their scripts. Mods can be found here: CM Mods Some of my favourite things to mod are the vehicle skins (CMRT vehicles http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?cat=15) especially look for anything by Aris (includes other games too): http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?author=46 Unit icons is also a popular thing to mod - here is mine which uses force specific period tactical icons: http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=533 (there are others in this list http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?cat=43) My absolute favourite mod is actually a game play assistance mod that changes the solider actions from words like "Spotting", "Aiming", "Firing" to icons. You must get the mode that matches your exact version of the game (see the version number in the bottom right of the main menu screen of the game): http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=225 Once you are looking for scenarios the site you want is here: Scenario Depot You can also check out my listing site (shameless plug :-): http://www.combatmission.lesliesoftware.com/RedThunder/Scenarios/index.html it does not host any of the files but you might find it helpful to search by size or area etc.
  7. Yes we argue about the numbers from time to time. I think there is general agreement that we push attacking units to hard and to far and hold the line to long as defenders too. In real life many engagements would end with one or more sides seeking to break contact much sooner than us game commanders do.
  8. Perhaps but it has been that way for a long long time (my initial tests were back in 2011) clearly not very high on the priority list. I recommend against holding your breath . There is a fair amount of randomness to track damage. I have seen no damage or a little damage from the first wall or fence knocked over. If you have one tank keep knocking walls over over and over it will damage the track at some point and become worse the more walls you knock over.
  9. That's what it looked like to me. @MOS:96B2P's test looks like it shows the same. Yep, save the extra work of placing additional way points and changing speed commands.
  10. That would be awesome, not just to play you but also because I have never made it past the first round of a tournament and I have never defeated @eniced73.
  11. You guys can keep doing that if you like but it is not necessary - the tank drivers in game slow down all by themselves already. If you just fast through a fence you can see the tank zip up to the fence and then slow down to knock it down and then zip away again - assuming it still can . I don't remember seeing a tank actually get immobilized knocking down fences but I do know their top speed can be reduced due to track damage. I usually have the platoon take turns dealing with obstacles to spread the pain around. I learned that the hard way in the fields of Normandy. Bonus tip - if you see a gate in a fence then tanks do not need to knock down any fence to get through: this is gamey but hey it prevents track damage and preserves the FOW too so I do it when I can. If you have a tank approaching a person sized gate in a fence make sure that you have one way-point directly in front of the gate and an other one directly on the other side so that the movement segment is perpendicular to the fence line. How far away is not important it is the 90 degree approach that matters - and that the movement segment goes through the gate. Now the tank will not knock over the fence but instead pass through the gate. Magic. I said it was gamey
  12. Vote all you want but it's not actually a democracy. Team 2 is correct (as well as better looking) - I did the test:
  13. LOL - yep get on those other 90 times man. Now do the same with you road on mud but be sloppy about your way points so the vehicle wonders on and off the road. I would guess it would get bogged sometimes.
  14. Hilarious. I rarely cancel move orders and just let the crew deal with the bogging. I find that usually works best Actually I am quite sure it makes no difference or at least as much difference as crossing my fingers and knocking on woods does.
  15. Amazing work! I was reading the forums earlier but saved this for later - and a new fresh coffee. Very well done - thanks.
  16. At 20m the mg crew probably close assaulted that tank and used grenades.
  17. No do not just drag and drop the contents of the My documents folder to any old place and expect the game to find its files. It is a special directory. There is a procedure to follow inside windows - I'll have to leave that to you to find since it varies by Windows version and you might want to watch a video (I hate that) or read a article on how to do it. If I recall correctly under some conditions the contents get ported to the new place and under other conditions they do not so you have to pay attention to the details. In the end if you can find the games files using the Documents sort cut in File Explorer on the same sub folder path after the move then the game will work. If any of that makes you really nervous the worst thing that can happen is you mess up the games and you have to delete the games and reinstall them and to fix it.
  18. Well WYSIWYG means what you see is what you get and in this case your unit cannot see the target. I would argue that this is a case of a unit that has not spotted the enemy itself therefore should not be able to target the exact location where the unknown enemy is (my bold) Except it is not!. In reality the unit in question either has the vaguest idea where the enemy is or no idea at all and some upper leader is asking them to lay down fire "10m west of that red rock". Not being able to target the exact location of an enemy that a particular unit has no idea is there is entirely realistic. Placing area fire near by is exactly what would happen if a platoon leader instructed a squad to lay down suppressive fire near a target they could not clearly see. Time to throw away the look up tables and dice throws of our wargamer experience and think like the Lt giving knife hand signals to his squad leaders on where to add some bullets.
  19. That is the intent for sure. I am not 100% sure what the official plan for CMBS is but I am pretty sure that other titles are getting modules first so it will be a little while before we see it. For now you can find new scenarios and campaigns on the Scenario depot http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/black-sea/ and a sort-able list of known scenarios and campaigns here: http://www.combatmission.lesliesoftware.com/index.html You should be able to find some more cool stuff to play.
  20. You can just drag the installs over there. But there is one big wrinkle for PC users (no idea about Mac users) - your "My Documents" directory. With the newer games the mods go in the My Documents\Battlefront\Combat Mission\Final Blitzkrieg\User Data\Mods folder. If you don't change where the system stores your "my documents" folder then you will be loading your mods from your original platter drive. Before you make that change back up the games' folders and make sure all the files made the transition.
  21. Yes, get your minds out of the gutter and back to politics. I mean the game
  22. Yes, they do sometimes. They do sometimes spot enemy soldiers, just not very reliably, so it is clear that they really are actually looking occasionally. And nose picking
  23. Yes, that will help. Face command in the wrong direction works too. The problem is they will be looking the wrong way and may not react as well as you might want. As @erwin says once they spot the enemy they will head for the windows. Mind you if they are targeting guys that entered the building they will not head for the windows until they win the fire fight. One thing that people have discovered is that the best place to be if the enemy enters the front door is outside the back door looking in. Down right nasty actually. The risk there is how safe is the backyard because being caught in the open from a neighbouring house is not pleasant.
