  1. Playing Syrian side in CMSF (US always veterans, Syrians usually green) was not too fun. You make perfect kill zone - U.S. marines squad come, nobody can hit them from 150m, then MGL soldier makes few shots - Syrians run away. That makes red side unplayable. By the 1944 German veterans of Blitzkried were mostly beaten out, so it wouldn't be historical either.
  2. I had written a 1 page size post about "Holodomor" and revolution, but I deleted it. Too much politics instead of history in this thread. For me enough that it is no politics in the game.
  3. Oh, if world's best... There are serious sources, I guess. Tens of millions - not a joke. Considering the fact, that population was 190 millions on 1940 year and 180 on 1950. 150 millions - on 1926. And war losses were 26 millions.
  4. What about overclaiming German losses. 1) When you read "Tiger" mind anything. It could be Pz IV or Pz III with side screens. 2) Probably damage from PTABs was not much - enough to kill crew member, knock out a tank but not to destroy it. Also there were ROFS-132, rockets with enhanced accuracy. Massively used since spring 1943. PTABs were perfect for killing tank columns, in the game level they would be not so effective, I think. Attacking single tanks - not Il-2 task.
  5. Oh, no... Russian revolution was not more bloody than French, English or American civil war. Please stop speculations about it. If Stalin equals Hitler, then killing people equals saving them. Say it to jews and people of occupied Soviet territories.
  6. Hm... May be it was that regiment tactic? In all sources is said about 8x82 or 8x132 as full load. +400 kg bombs or 600 in overload. There were field modifications for 8x82 + 8x132 and even 24x82 loads, but speed decreased too much and this modifications weren't used massively. http://www.airwar.ru/weapon/anur/rs82-132.html Huge casualties are partly explained to accidents. Up to 50% on the average during the war. By the way: A.D. Have you ever encountered enemy aircraft? I've never had to participate in a dogfight, but the rear gunner didn't sit without work -- after pulling out from an attack he fired at ground targets. Would be nice feature! Intersting, that Khukhrikov never was attacked by fighter. He was flying since 43.
  7. Slow speed, slow turn. (though better turn didn't help Stukas) Abscence of tail gunner till 1943, when pilot didn't see anything behind because of cocpit protection. Armor was great for defence from AA fire, but when Bf109 blasts rudders on the tail or makes whole in the wing it doesn't help. With low speed of Ils germans could make as many tryes as they want. +сannon pods and 30mm guns on late 109s. And unexperienced pilots. Veterans could land a plane with huge wholes in the wing and sometimes kill uncautious fighter, but most pilots had few flight hours.
  8. Why so many doubts about splitting squads? During city battles splitting units in assault groups, when squads were split to 3-men teams, were common since Stalingrad. Also, forward units had more options for actions, why tank commander can't send halfsquad of tankodesantniki to watch around corner instead of sending full squad? When team is near squad leader, in voice command range - not a problem at all, there should be no moral penalty, in my opinion. Ingame formatioms are tight, inf platoon witout splitting squads can defend 50-100 m of frontline staying in voice range, while according to soviet doctrine it must defend 300m line. Splitting squads is essential feature.
  9. Also 8, 4 salvos. Plus 4x100kg bombs, or 2x250 in overload, on external mounts. And a lot of 23mm ammuntion. Missions with Il-2 will be easy for the red side! What about fighters, a lot of them carried rockets at the start of the war, but I never read about La-5 or late Yaks with rockets.
  10. What about simulating field phones and messengers? Can't imagine playing side without radios.
  11. But there were wired communications. Hope BFC will simulate them.
  12. Yes, sure buying lend-lease goods was very helpfull during the war. I liked this: Pianos, new 2 530$ Shotguns 1 25$ Pipes, tobacco 1 10$ Really full list. Tobacco pipe for comrade Stalin?
  13. Red army had wires and telephones, but some were lost, so lend-lease supplies were usefull. During first part of war radios were few, 1 per battalion. (and not for 100% units) Main communication gear were wired telephones, even high command who had radios preffered wires, as they were considered more reliable and silent for enemy. Units were 100% equipped by communication gear only in 1944. So, messengers and tight formations will be only choice for red players. What's about lend-lease, it's role was high after 1942. While battles of Moscow and of Stalingrad it's part was less. As alternative feature - why not?
  14. By the way, for future east front games simulating field telephones (may be they would be set like TRP's before the battle?) and messengers would be usefull. Messengers are simultated in general (you can send soldiers to inform ally unit about enemy units) I dream abot extra-iron mode, where you can order only to units that are in chain of command.
  15. It is not translated in English, I had found only this article: http://www.oocities.org/rf_mikael/isaev.html. No, I haven't.
  16. I can't discuss it in detail due to the language barrier, but I can say that Rizoon's books were discussed in Russian internet and proffesional historians criticized them a lot. There is a book "Anti-suvorov" where Isaev refutes Rizoon's suggestions.
  17. I think it is only drawback of simulation in CM games. It makes tanks overpowered.
  18. Shermans in CMBN spot better and shoot more accurately then T-55's and BMP's in CMSF. I think BMP's are so bad "for balance".
  19. In my opinion, most decisive battle of WW2 was battle of Moscow. The first large defeat of Germans. If war on the east had been lost, Britain would have few chances. Unites States even hadn't started producing Shermans. Also, imagine 100% of Werhmacht in the western front...
  20. March 26, 1944 Lieutenant Pegov's light tank T-70 killed 2 Panthers from an ambush. So it is possible, calibers are close. (45mm and 37mm)
  21. +1 Veteran tank crew =! veteran infantrymen. Would be logical if tank crew had moral, skill and leadership penalty being dismounted. And it would be nice if AI wouldn't send tank crews in attack.
  22. Yes, man at 300 m equals 6.5 mils ~ small coin at the ground. But we should consider camouflage and other factors. OK, may be I have poor vision, but 600- 1200 m distance without optics is not real even for 100% vision IMHO. If there were optics on most HMGs, this is another question.
  23. Personally I can't see a man at distance 300 m. Did HMGs have optics?
