  1. That head does the same, that cap does - increase normalisation. (or decrease denormalisation, I would say) What is better - I don't know.
  2. Closed. Stug also with closed - tankodesantniki supressed him.
  3. I tested. Tankodesantniki move over the hill, spot Stug. Platoon leader runs to T-34-85 (Green). Contact mark transfers to tank. T-34-85 moves over the hill with HUNT order. Stops and kills Stug in a few seconds. Distance - 400 metres. Without intel data he would spot for several seconds, +2-3 to fire. Seems it works.
  4. They look same AP - 2 and 3 Well, it will give additional normalisation and reduce ricochet probability, I guess.
  5. There were two AP shells for ML-20, ISU-152 BR-540B and BR-540 Last (earlier one) has a flat head, do you mean that?
  6. 1) 1:1 simulated field phones. 2) More planning instruments! So player would give order to unit: MOVE - PAUSE UNTIL 9:45 (PAUSE UNTIL RED FLARE) - FAST - ... And buttons for battalion/company commanders - launch red flare, green flare e.t.c.. For Soviet style command. )
  7. 2IC can provide chain for thansferring spotting data. Commander listens on radio that platoon of tanks comming, sends SIC to distant squads. They know that tanks are coming and when tanks appear they shoot their panzershrecks a little faster. (if I understand game mechanics right)
  8. Actually first link says that rapes were a common problem. It always happens, even in homeland, even in peacetime. When millions of men are mobilised and put in hard conditions - they are inevitably. In US army, in UK army, in Frensh army, in Soviet army. May be as Soviet army was larger - there were more rapes, I don't know. There are no documents. There was a some sort of revolution, when pro-german king was dethroned, wasn't it? Bolgarian army didn't resist Red army and soon joined allies. Wow! Ukrainians think different.
  9. Just like Poland ocupied West Ukrainian republic in 1921. After that - polonistation, catolisation, colonisation with former polish militaries. In case Poland would have pro-Britain goverment, there would be repressions against pro-Soviet Polish patriots, communist sympathizers. Like in Greece, for example. Do you have evidence, that in Soviet zone of ocupation rapes were more often, than in American, French or British? I guess no. What about Katyn - I don't understand a sense of doing that. Germans had reasons - not to feed so many people. And for Soviets? Also different "small" details like German shells. (yes, NKVD used German weapons to confuse... Germans?) And soviets never did it before and after, while nazis did it many times. Ok, I don't know - if this was done by soviets - it's a crime. Sure. The thing is that there were no goverment in case of occupied by nazis Eastern Europe counties.
  10. I am not ready to that level of discussion, sorry. Just a small reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaolzie#Part_of_Poland_.281938.E2.80.931939.29 The same "polonisation" was made in western Ukraine and western Belorussia. Until 1939. There were no good, nice regimes. If you think that they were, you know little about them.
  11. Polish ex-goverment... It was bad example. Too political. Let's stop it.
  12. Ukranian president Yanukovich is in exille in Russia. Nobody cares. In 21 century. It is beginning of XX century. Poland opressed pro-russian ukrainians and belorussians. Czechs opressed germans after WW2. Britain opressed people in colonies. As France did. Sad reality. So what? Britain = Japan?
  13. Unfortunately, there was no Polish state. Nazis destroyed it. New state could be build by soviets or by brits. Why brits should, when hundreds of thousands of Soviet soldiers died to liberate Poland? "Massacres by both groups"? I would look what would remain from Polish nation to 1991 under nazi rule. Are you serious?
  14. So, you say that Eastern Europe countries were allies of nazys? 1) They were occupied by nazis and liberated by red army 2) They were happy with new nazy order and were conquered by soviets And that is it. 3rd variant "the nazis were bad and communsts also were invaders" is nonsense. American bases are all over Europe till present day, so what, USA are conquerrers of Europe?
  15. It seems that I know that sim. I remember comfortable moving with nice view before contact with TC out of a hatch and fast moving parts of trees, houses, ground in telescopic sight being inside the tank. "Steel fury". It's bad that commander's turret in Pz. IV wasn't modeled properly, to see the difference. In next game, about T-62, they modelled commander's turret well. + licensed Polish-English MK-IV periscopes, mounted in all late war tanks. That were better then just holes in the armor, in my opinion.
  16. This is... Wrong. One of the myths of WW2 history. The problems with optics were during several monthes, when plants were evacuated. Late war scopes were not inferior to German one. Zoom near equal. x4 for JS-2, x5 for Tiger, if I am not mistaken. Blindness of T-34-76 seems to be overestimated. They should have narrow field of view, but they should see targets where gun sight is directed.
  17. Staying in ambush or moving on the marsh soviet tank would be 100% with opened hatches. There a lot of such photos: Just because sitting inside is exhausting. By the way, consider that T-34-76 is absolutely blind now with closed hatches. Even in facing direction. That seems wrong. Narrow field of view would be realisitc, but in this FOV it should spot well.
  18. Would be great! I asked russian WoT/War thunder community, nobody gave any links to documents, but common opinion was that main reason was construction of hatches. And that commander was also a gunner in T-34-76. And Carius dealt with T-34-76 mainly.
  19. Yes. And it is surprising to me. Yes, I know about absence of leader assistant in soviet squad. But... Soviet style attack with several platoons running with "fast" order at the germans works better playing americans in "battle for Normandy" then playing soiviets. ) American inf much more resilient then soviet in the game.
  20. By the way, AT teams with grenades are surprisingly effective. Not much worse then bazookas.
  21. Nothing is sayed about closing. I had searched text by keyword "hatch", only citated above is suitable. Intersting question.
  22. I translated. Where hatches are mentioned. Other is not applicable, about spotting e.t.c.. P.S. Damn, google translates better than me.
  23. I checked RKKA field manual. Before contact with enemy spotting is conducted through opened hatches. 250. In case of losing orientation opening hatch with care is alowed for looking at area. (sorry, bad translation, I know)
  24. BFC tried to simulate poor spotting abilities of T-34-76, but did it too much. The commander-gunner had 360 degrees periscope with magnification, the tank was not absolutely blind like in the game. Late war tanks had MK-4 periscope, that was superior to that the Germans had. Buttoned up soviet tank with MK-4 periscope would be better spotting then german. I have no problem with soviet tanks, (with exception to T-34-76) but I usually open hatches, send infantry (or bail out crew when don't have inf) to recon and share data about contacts.
