  1. This, exactly. Phantom Captain and Hermitage's posts have done nothing except confirm what I've long suspected about how good this is going to be for us tactical WW2 combat gamers, and the degree of dedication and love that the Battlefront guys have for their baby. Bravo, gents. (And especially for bringing the series back to the Apple platform.) Thanks to Rune for hosting the event. Let's get this thing wrapped up, now, and out to the rest of us eager CM fans.
  2. The other "feature" is growing old waiting for the CM series to return to Apple machines. You have no idea how old I've gotten waiting.
  3. Wow. Just tremendous. Thanks for posting those pics and driving us old fans who aren't in the beta into an even deeper frenzy of desire. Wallet now fully armed for pre-order.
  4. And I'm supposed to keep my expectations in check?! Ha! This is the sort of praise I want to hear ... love WW2 tactical, check. Love original CMBO in OS9, check. Expectations exceeded, sir!
  5. No, but Maple Leafs "fans*" do throw waffles at their team. * Fan: (noun) Someone who, despite all evidence to the contrary, believes their hockey team to be the best in the League and continues to provide MLSE a 21% return on their money to see crappy "hockey".
  6. No Canadian preview. Same old, same old, there were Canucks on D-Day?
  7. My wife has always referred to me as a 13 year old Asian girl trapped in the body of a late 40s year old male, so I understand. Giddy with excitement for CMBN. Wait. Was that in my out loud voice?
  8. I'd try to bribe Steve to let me hold one in the Toronto area, but I know it'd do no good as I am both not a tester (just a fan from way way back, and also he's utterly incorruptible). If any testers are in the TO area, I'd be willing to pay for food for 20 to watch a demo in out area, though.
  9. As I understood it, the design/polishing work on the UI is not yet finalized. That would be a reason to crop the Command Panel out of the screen shots, I suspect.
  10. I do know that. Your winter is our summer etc. Guess my geography degree was good for something. Wasn't sure how Sydney was faring during the wet, was all. Did see the temps get way up once (into the 40s?). I'd heard Brisbane was not getting flooding. Wow.
  11. I have sunglasses on and it's dark. I can't tell.
  12. I had no idea my fellow OSX user was in Sydney. Our best friends live there (originally from Melbourne) and after spending some time in the Crows Nest part of town, have moved to rather posh digs up in Cremorne with a bit of a view of the Harbour bridge. I could probably convince the wife and kids that a trip down to visit them (and preview CM) would be a better use of money than a solo flight to Chicago. Nice winter so far? I'd be happy to host one in Waterloo at my offices if I could convince Steve to let me! Leafs? You want to go see a hockey game, right? The Leafs* (snicker). * Old enough to remember their last Stanley Cup win. Know some of the old ones personally. Once a fan (with the Dave Keon autographs to prove it), now hockey is meh. For the great restaurants in Melbourne? To hang out and the banks of the Yarro with a can of VB and listening to tunes from my former fave band, the Weddos? (Weddings, Parties, Anything).
  13. Wilkes Barre is only about a four hour drive for me ... hmmmm ...
  14. I can get a flight from Toronto to Chicago for less than $300 return. That's mighty tempting ... wonder what my wife would think of that expenditure, though.
  15. Oh come on. Steve's constant helpfulness, answers, time on the forum, consideration of the smallest details, intelligence etc etc with us plebs ... are the very bloody reason this game has taken so many years to get done. Stop chatting on the forums and get back to work, Steve!
  16. This is it. For me, personally, I prefer WeGo to real-time RTS. Maybe it's my age now, but even in my past I've never managed to handle even the first RTS strategy games that came out. World of Warcraft I, Age of Empires, StarCraft, Age of Mythology, Company of Heroes, etc. Couldn't wrap my head around having to be everywhere at all times making snap decisions about what to produce or build, who to attack, etc. Felt to robotic and thoughtless to me. The only RTS strategy game I came close to liking and being able to handle the pace of was Rise of Nations. I have always preferred the WeGo system that CMBO introduced to war gamers. Next best thing to hex-based traditional war games like Combat Commander series (by GMT) in my mind. It allows me to plan, think, order and then watch, review, study and learn from my mistakes and successes. Over and over. Sure it's not like a real battle, but for this old man, it works perfectly. But one man's fish is another man's poisson after all.
  17. Probably the best guess so far, although AslakH's is technically more accurate.
  18. One of the finest and most thoughtfully courageous human beings to have ever graced this fair Earth. We have lost a great man ... but history will never forget him and the men he served with. If only each of us could live as honourably as he did. RIP, sir.
  19. This is too crazy a topic to not participate. My optimistic guess would be late February demo, March release. If a pre-release demo gets done at all ... and that might not be the case. The realist inside me says April release, maybe even May.
  20. Huge fan of CMx1. Check. (My favourite Mac game of all time? CMBO) Didn't like CMSF only for modern setting (and lack of OSX support). Check. Will love CMBN. Check.
  21. The series is finally returning to my platform of choice. Looks really good. My favourite game of all time. A must check out for fans of tactical WW2 games. Directed them here. No promises made at all.
  22. Decent response over on InsideMacGames where the news of the series return to this platform is generating some excitement.
  23. Agreed. Even if the later CM games had been available on OSX, CMSF doesn't appeal at all and I know I wouldn't have bought the title. YMMV though.
