  1. Auckland, New Zealand here. Order was shipped on the 25th of May (took about 2 weeks between being confirmed and being shipped though). Anyway, not really worried or anything, stuff usually takes ages to ship from the 'States or Europe to NZ, aaaand I've got the download to keep me occupied anyway.
  2. Yeah I'm terribly disappointed with performance so far. I've posted this in other threads before, but anyway: I recently upgraded to an i7 2600k, 8GB 1600 DDR3, an Asus P8P67 Pro running in concert with my slightly dated AMD 4870X2. Now I realise that the drivers for AMD that are meant to utilize both GPUs on my dual GPU card are kinda ****ty, and most of the time they only use one, but even a single 4870 should be able to run the game fine, no? Or are we really expected to be running current-gen 500-series Geforces or 6000-series Radeons? Seriously, most of the time my framerate is sitting around the mid-20s, sometimes dropping as low as the mid-10s, and only rarely going above 35.
  3. The only way a major developer might ever make (or try to make) something similar is if a major war broke out right now that sparked interest in the hardcore war-gaming genre. Until it does, games like CM will remain one hell of a niche. Speaking of which, does BFC intend to release the sales figures for CMBN? Has the game broken even? Have you met/exceeded your sales expectations?
  4. I think the main problem here is senility, I mean, most average players of CMx1 must by now be over 200 years old at LEAST, surely? Maybe the old-timers are just finding it a little difficult to adapt, you can't teach and old dog new tricks and all that. edit Holy crap I know right? It was a tough little campaign, but not too tough, y'know? Just enough to make you get your hands dirty. Excellent tutorial campaign, easily the best tutorial I've seen in a war game yet, bar none. Props to the designer.
  5. This is a realism and immersion killer. I'm never buying another BFC game for as long as I live.
  6. Yeah, same goes for me. I'm a real Nazi when it comes to spelling and grammar. If BFC wants to hire a full-time proof reader in return for cookies (I'll settle for chocolate brownies though) then I'd be more than happy to help.
  7. Only place where I'd say that guy has a point is regarding trenches and foxholes. Personally I'd prefer the old CMBB-style foxholes and trenches, but I can't say that the current way has killed the game for me, but then again, I haven't really played all that many defensive scenarios either.
  8. The other weird thing is that I don't really get any sort of performance increase if I turn the Model and Texture quality up to 'Best', so I'm guessing it has something to do with how the game is made.
  9. Sorry for the thread hijack, but I thought it was kinda relevant. Is anyone else finding that the game runs kinda slow? I recently bought an i7 2600k along with 8GB of 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM, running on my slightly aged Radeon 4870X2. I'm running the game at 1920x1080 with all Texture and Model quality on 'Improved', with Multisampling turned on, and I the best framerate I seem to get is around 20-30, on some scenes it goes all the way down to 10. I shudder at the thought of how it would run on older computers o_O Anything we can do on our part to optimise the game a little bit? I'd have thought that the top CPU out at the moment, with a decent GPU would be able to run the game a bit better.
  10. To be honest, I thought the Steel Book was going to be something like what the Band of Brothers Collector's Edition came in
  11. Dunno, you're probably better off just printing the whole thing in braille.
  12. This to infinity. tyrspawns Beta AARs were awesome.
  13. Good choice IMO. The battles are too short for subtle changes in weather to produce any sort of significant result.
  14. So I finally got the game running properly on my comp, been playing through the tutorials and what can I say... I'm having a blast. Great job BFC!
  15. Can BFC post the sales figures after, say, a week of release? Kinda curious to see how popular this game is in general.
  16. More like "The Americans even have incompetent commanders in this game"
  17. Got a big university Information Systems essay due next week. Guess I'll keep looking at screenshots...
  18. I'll go with both. What good is an assaulting StuG III without a platoon of Panzergrenadiers supporting it.
  19. Good timing. Just as I'm between computers, fact, just as I bought the parts for my juicy new one. CMBN would've sucked on my old computer, the demo ran pretty badly, but my new i7 2600k should fix that, right? Riiiiight? I'll make sure that CMBN is the first game I install on it as well
  20. Yeah its easy to beat it once you know exactly where the ATG and MGs are. Normally it manages to killed about 3-4 of your tanks before finally revealing itself.
  21. First Impressions... Hmmm... Lets just say the demo has made me pre-order the Steelbook version. Seriously though, all in all it could probably be a bit more optimized, as its running quite sluggish at the moment, the same goes for CM:SF, even though my computer is well above the recommended specs (granted it is only a Core2Duo E7500, I AM running a 4870X2 graphics card, which is still rated very highly). Having heaps of fun with the game otherwise.
  22. Fun map, got utterly raped in the first attempt. On the second attempt I realised you could park your tanks next to hedges, so that they can shoot through them just like infantry, so I parked two Shermans next to the bocage by the farm, had arty surpress enemy positions to the right of the main road, had the Shermans fire smokes to block the enemy LOS from the crossroad, and surpressed the crap out of the farmhouses with my MGs and a spare infantry squad, while my other 2 squads assaulted the farm. Once the infantry took the farm, I was able to spot the AT gun, and after a little bit of area fire by tank, along with artillery, I was able to establish battlefield superiority, and the enemy just collapsed as my tanks rolled through. Also had one of the infantry platoons move up along the right flank, supported by armor, but by this point, the battle had already pretty much been won. Ended up with 6 KIA if I remember correctly.
