  1. And have your scouts for later missions. It won't be a great victory, but a victory nonetheless.
  2. Behind friendly lines, engineers in a jeep take an arty shell. The survivors, who have not taken any fire since, are still running around panicked 5 minutes later! I wouldn't be so irritated, but they have some of my last satchel charges. Makes me wish there was an enemy minefield nearby...
  3. I, for one, am glad that there will be no change to the current spotting method. I will admit to, however, the utilization of ghost bombings in where a HVT is lit up by a another squad but the FO has not spotted (yet has a clear line of sight to) and still can bring down the 81mm rain of fun. These missions are definitely not as accurate to target, but when you gotta suppress, you gotta suppress. BTW, once spotted, an AT gun will stay visible on map, even though the marker (and crew details) can be absent.
  4. Ah the Brummbar, takes me back to my SL days (before Advanced). Too bad I was trying to take out enemy armour with it...
  5. This has happened to me. Unfortunately, the only way I found to get things to work was to put the actual HQ next to them. I, like yourself, had reasonably assumed that the HQ support was to free up the HQ so that the HQ could be more mobile. Right now, I'm trying to use the HQ support to get the Bino only HQs/FOs a way to call back home.
  6. I never use the hunt command anymore for Wego play. If I "hunt" a squad to take some nearby trench, they will inevitably stop 5m from the trench cover to fire, then rout by turn's end. If I "hunt" my tank towards a last known armor contact, they will inevitably stop 5 seconds in the turn when they encounter some distant squad 500m away. However, when using "slow" I know my units will continue to advance throughout the turn until they hit cover, uncover a tank, or die along the way.
  7. The corollary to this is when you know you don't want an AT gun to be there, and send in some of your precious artillery to be sure, the AT gun was in fact, not there.
  8. Wearable cat ears are all the rage now in Japan.
  9. I don't know about you, but I've had main guns taken out and immobilizations from shrekies 200m+ out. I fear these guys more than those AT guns. Is there a minimum arming range on those HEAT rounds?
  10. Last night I called in some Wiley Pete nearby to screen my troop movements. The HQ panics under some fire and runs towards the target area. Rounds start dropping, phosphorus burns the pixeltruppen's lungs, and the HQ breaks. Now the scatter is so bad, the other squads in the platoon start to get affected, and immobilize. Simple things become the hardest in the midst of war...
  11. Are you coming from a realism point of view (e.g. US HQ units historically were always equiped with binoculars and radios) or from a playability one?
  12. I noticed the daylight effect of the increasing LOS as well. Unfortunately for my light mortars, German spotters noticed it too. They were able to pull off a nice counter battery barrage (a tight small grouping), and I lost 2 out of the 4 support units. It's good to know I have an out. I'm slowly advancing with around 50 minutes left. While I've knocked out 2 AT guns, I lost 3 tanks in the process (used them as bait so as not to get too gamey). Not too happy with their loss combined with the light mortars.
  13. After a few days with the full version I am seeing what jonp is experiencing. When I click on a waypoint, and try to target something from there, the targeting reference line is appearing from my original spot. Furthermore, the line is recreating the exact same LOS from my initial point. A building that would block the LOS from point 1 will still be blocking my LOS (dark blue targeting line) from a second point that has cleared said building.
  14. Excellent idea. Also, how many of you have clicked the stat text thinking you will then get refocused on that particular soldier? No one? Aw, come on now.
  15. In print form, perhaps not. But I do read online game reviews at least once a week.
  16. I'd settle for just a Bren tripod...no Bren, just tripod.
  17. I am on my second attempt at this scenario now. ***SPOILERS*** My first ended when at about 10 minutes in, 3 squads were wiped out by heavy artillery as they were securing positions along the walls at the far end of the bridge. I was attempting to establish a fire base covering future manuevers towards the hill by pinning incoming German fire from the foxholes along the stone walls, along with mortar support. As you've mentioned, the constant enemy artillery keeps coming in, making this an exercise that is more maneuver and manuever. Obviously, I will need another plan of attack. Just curious, but why did you move your mortar(s) up? The max visibility that I've seen so far has been ~700m, so I don't anticipate any issues with just leaving them in the far rear. Also, have you continued to the next battle with your forces in such bad shape?
  18. Can a single person squad toting around a M1917 fire it, or anything else?
  19. I got my notification from BF about my change in order, but nothing from the USPS (and I checked my spam folder). My package arrived about 3 business days after the BF notice. A case of snail mail being faster than e-mail I guess...
  20. Got mine yesterday in tiptop shape, and I have to say I was pleased with the box. It does look like the Underworld box, so the rest of you can get a solid idea of what you've ordered. I do sort of wonder what will become of the add-on module discs if I leave the manual in there rattling around though...
  21. Guess it sounds better than, "Pre-order now and get your fabulous plastic box which comes with game CD, manual, and more plastic (empty) CD holders to hold future expansions!".
  22. Obviously a German TRP. No spotting rounds at all... The typical tactics of smoke and fire & manuever don't apply here. Must resort to gamey tactics...
  23. So you are intimating it would be easier to model in working tanks and pixeltruppen into Flight Sim? Sounds like fun!
