"Unhide" needed
futon river crossing replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
You're missing the point - when plotting a move in WEGO - you need to be able to use the LOS tool to see if it's worth unhiding your men or not. As it stands you can't do this. You can't spin this as a positive feature of the game. In CM1 you could unhide a unit whilst plotting a move, and also choose to re-hide them. I may be wrong but I believe the reason you can't do this in CM2 is because WEGO is Realtime with pauses.... and as such can't be altered, perhaps the devs will comment on this. -

It seems like it's a function of the fact that the WEGO implementation is Realtime with pauses - that's lead to this - it is a pain, and needs to be sorted. -
Maybe their holding back the Crocks and wasps for the big reveal - i certainly hope so

On Board Mortars
futon river crossing replied to futon river crossing's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yes - I wanted my on board mortars to arrive at the same time as my preplanned off map artillery at T+5min - no way I could get a spotter in position in time to achieve this. Seems an easy feature to add - as it's already there for off map arty. -
On Board Mortars

I wanted to fire my on board 81mm smoke as a pre-planned arty in the setup phase - to add to the smoke from the off map arty, timed to arrive at the same time, as this is insufficient to do the job - not unreasonanble...... -
Inf poor use of foxholes!?
futon river crossing replied to GreenAsJade's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yes - hiding does seem a bit overdone, it was the same in CMSF. If you have a schrek team hiding with a covered arc, you'd surely expect them to hear and spot a tank whilst hiding, no? I always thought that was one of the key features of the covered arc. The ability to spring a trap. Also when you "unhide" an unit - you won't be able to check the LOS as unhidden compared to hidden - I find this quite frustrating. You have to wait a whole minute! This might have to do with RT coding of the original game design. -

Any reason for this? Is it an unrealistic idea? -
+1 on the map edge camera problem. Since playing CMSF for 2 years....... I haven't seen much change in the actual UI, it feels very similar to CMSF. Some minor things I'd like to see: I can't seen to use the "escape" button on my Mac to get to the desktop from the game startup screen - - OH - scratch that - just realised "command+tab" works, Doh! I'd like to be able to delete saved games from within the game in the saved games screen, rather than having to go to the finder and do in the file system. I'm also having a problem with the button sensitivity many many times - I've thought I've clicked a, say move button, and it's not registered, without me realising, and I go to click the first waypoint, the unit is then deselected - and I have to start all over again. It's getting quite frustrating. I use the mouse to navigate - I find I keep on activating "Expose" on my mac when I'm trying to rotate the camera - this is getting quite frustrating too! I wonder if, for Macs, the sensitive areas could be further away from the corners of the screen. Minor points, I know - fab game anyway!

How do I setup a pre-planned bombardment with a delay using on board mortars? Time delays are there for the off map arty....... but I can't seem to see them for on board units.

Suffered a minor loss to the AI today - in a scenario So I think the AI is much improved! - A human opponent would have really kicked my ass though!! LOL
