  1. True! The average experience of a unit would be a bit more boring than we'd want to "play". It is a game and it takes a lot of reality and facts, but puts us in exceptional circumstances where we can experience all out battle. It's a major balancing act to get enough realism, while keeping a game fun, not taking too long to play and not too much work to run!
  2. I have unconfirmed info that Battlefront is run from a padded room at the Topeka State Psychiatric Hospital.
  3. I have to say, I've always considered myself knowledgeable on history, but reading his old post revealing how Hitler was the real victim is amazing! Who'd have thought that Great Britain, the Jews and Wall Street were manipulating Hitler? Finally the "truth" is revealed! We are so lucky to have people of this quality informing us poor idiots of the "facts"!
  4. That's Peter Jackson's secret weapon- PanzerHobbiten. You can fit a dozen Hobbits in there, making reloading very fast!
  5. Yes! I love "Battleground" too! A great war movie!
  6. It would be sad to die just before CMBN came out- but if that happened I'm sure we'd like to be buried with our copy of the game!
  7. It truly was a shame! It had so many great actors and could have been an all time classic war movie! The writers and director need to be shot- even if they have to be dragged out of nursing homes in their wheelchairs!
  8. Exactly! The Berglöwe 360SE Automated Lavender Harvester gives us the perfect rows that would have been impossible back in the day!
  9. Exactly! CMBO was the first time I'd ever risked pre-ordering a game. When I started seeing articles about it, I knew that it was that perfect game I'd been dreaming of for years! It definitely had its problems but at the time it blew me away! And it shows just how great a system it was when I can still enjoy playing CMAK and CMBB today! I'm sure that all those old games that seemed so impressive on my Commodore 64 wouldn't be able to hold my interest for 5 minutes now, but I could still see breaking out the original CM games 20 years from now and being able to enjoy them!
  10. Impressive that you actually got her into it! Wargaming is one of those few remaining areas where women dare not tread! Growing up in a rural area with no nearby friends, I desperately wished my sister's being something of a Tomboy had translated to being willing to play my AH games, but she had no interest so I mostly played them solitaire.
  11. Hear, Hear!!! Though I know some small companies are still hanging on, when AH was sold and They Who Shall Not Be Mentioned stopped the production of true wargames, it was the closest thing to the death of a Golden Age! With the rise of computer games it was inevitable, but still, I'd have preferred to see AH just end than have it corrupted by that heartless giant!
  12. I'm imagining something like Captain Pike in Star Trek, a withered head and shoulders in a wheeled mechanical life support box and only able to flash lights for "yes" and "no".
  13. I loved B-17 and Ambush! Up Front, however, truly was an incredible game! I had something like 75 Avalon Hill/Victory games but that, Midway, and Napoleon, with the wooden blocks were my favorites!
  14. LOL! "When CM originally came out, you had to use an abacus and slide rule to play!"
  15. 44 Before long, we'll be playing CM with people who were born after CMBO first came out!
  16. It's definitely cool to get this! Something to enjoy before the game comes out!
  17. Actually I think CM is a lot of fun, and "28 Days Later" too. But everyone has a different sense of humor- some people can laugh at things and get jokes, while there are some people who rarely if ever laugh and think every joke is stupid and that humor is beneath them. Or some people love very rare steaks while others can't eat them unless they're just this side of burnt. Often people will think their "taste" is correct and everyone else is wrong. That can be a huge problem with a game, a movie or many other things- you're never going to make everyone happy because there will be plenty of people with completely opposite taste.
