  1. What missions do you play and what FPS do you have? Can you measure it by FRAPS and tell us? Try to tune your video driver settings. First of all pay your attention to an option "Anti-Aliasing", try to set it to "Let the application decide" or to a minimum, then run the game and check its performance. Also in standard video drivers settings (in the Catalyst Control Center) try to uncheck the button Use Custom Settings and move the slider to Performance (instead of Quality). 1) will mortars be put into the game ? Mortar support is available. Mortar units will most likely be in the addon 2) will we be able to create maps from scratch ? This feature will most likely be in the addon too. 3) I don't notice any los fixes were then in this patch ? We started implementing the new LOS system, but it took us more time to implement and balance all the missions and campaigns, so we didn't include it in the patch. The new LOS system will likely also be added later.
  2. You should assign the keys you want in the Controls options.
  3. Try the following: Open bldwin.ini file in the Theatre of War’s directory, find the “window” parameter in the section [core] and set the proper values of width, height and refreshRate, that your monitor and videocard supports. Also you may set fullScreen and changeScreenRes to false to make the builder work in the window mode. Then save the file and try to run the builder once again.
  4. gwack, could you switch on builder's log file and email it to me? Open bldwin.ini in Theatre of War's directory, add the following line to the [core] section: console=(bLog=true,bLogTime=false,bPause=true,bUseStartLog=false,bWrap=true,history=128,historyCmd=128,logFile=builder.lst,page=20) When you try to run the builder next time, it must generate builder.lst file. Email me this file to gavd@1c.ru. If there is cppcrash directory in the Theatre of War, pack it into the archive and send it to me too. Please, add to the letter the link to this post. P.S. What about the game itself? Does it run OK? [ June 28, 2007, 06:52 AM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  5. Archilles, what directory did you install the game to? Make sure it does not contain any exlamation marks and non-english letters. Also if the game crashes after installing the patch, could you e-mail me its log.lst after the crash (this file is created in Theatre of War's directory) to gavd@1c.ru (with the link to the forum).
  6. After installing the patch you can add your own custom campaigns in the CampaignEditor. See the screenshot below: But currently you cannot create your own original maps, just alter the existing ones.
  7. Did you try to set up your NVIDIA driver following the tips at the troubleshooting guide http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html ? First of all, if you have a double core CPU, make sure you have Threaded Optimization option disabled in your advanced video driver settings.
  8. Try the tip from troubleshooting guide: "IMPORTANT NOTE! If you install the above Battle for Moscow Add-on and Game Patch and the game no longer launches, browse to your game folder and rename the file tow2.dll to elicen40.dll"
  9. Currently with using Builder you cannot create new maps from scratch, just modify the original ones. Renaming the directory won't help, because the map contains additional data (such as terrain info, etc) that is hidden for the modder.
  10. The problem happens with the game and the builder on some ATI cards after playing the mission that has high quality water and when closing the application. The application crashes and stays hanging in the Task Manager. This bug will be fixed in the nearest patch update. If you run the game, use tow_1.4.exe or try to set the lower water quality. If you run the builder, open bldwin.ini in the Theatre of War's directory and set WaterReflection parameter to 0 in the core section.

  12. Did you try the version updated by the latest patch (1.3.0.56)? If yes, open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Escape) and check if there are any tow.exe processes hanging. If yes, stop them manually and run tow_1.4.exe next time.
  13. Try to download and run the demo version and check if its performance is comfortable for you. You are also advised to wait for some time and check the demo version updated by the latest patch (1.3.0.56 or later), that should fix some multicore-AMD CPU performance issues. 14. GriffinCheng+, could you also send me a letter to gavd@1c.ru with the link to this forum?
  15. GriffinCheng+, do you have the same problems with other games? Check, that you have the latest video drivers (try to download the latest from http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24.html and install them). Check, that your CPU's and VideoCard's coolers work OK.
  16. What error report does it give? Could you describe it in full detail?
  17. Pvt. Ryan and bus, could you send me a letter to gavd@1c.ru with the link to this forum? I'll ask you additional question via e-mail to get to know a bit closer what is happening on your systems.
  18. What is your OS? ServicePack? Can you launch the demo version? Does it work?
  19. Please, try the tips at http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html First of all, pay your attention to installing AMD Athlon 64 patches http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_9706,00.html http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/amdcpusetup.exe and the latest video drivers at http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html Also try to switch off the sound in towsetup.exe tool and set the video to lowest settings (try to switch off the shadows, first). If nothing helps you, e-mail me the link to the forum (to gavd@1c.ru) [ May 24, 2007, 10:02 PM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  20. We don't have any details available on these topics at the moment. There are some plans on extending multiplayer gameplay in the addon, but final decisions on its features have not been made. As we get closer to release the addon, we'll have more details to share.
  21. The speed 25,000 Bytes/sec fits best non-stable Internet playing mode. That is why it was set by default. The same is for the smooth unit movement default value. There is no need to set the speed higher than 2,000,000 Bytes/sec, because the game doesn't spawn so much traffic. Though you may type any other speed you want in the towsetup's speed combobox.
  22. As far as I understand the game client connects to the lobby successfully and the problems happen right after loading the network mission, don't they? 1. If you play the LAN and your connection is very stable, open towsetup tool and change both the server' and the clients' speed to 1000000 or 2000000 bytes per second. Also set the checkbox Smooth Unit Placement. Then press OK button and launch the game once again. Do it for the game host and for all the game clients. 2. What mission do you experience the problems with? Try to load another network mission, does it work OK? 3. Do you have the game freezes when playing in the single player mode? If yes, try the tips at http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html#crashes [ May 22, 2007, 02:40 AM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  23. It is a pathfinder's limitation. You cannot have more than 255 active (non-sleeping) and free (not-belonging-to-crew) units simultaneously in the mission. [ May 21, 2007, 10:34 PM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  24. Currently you may only modify any of the current campaigns. Most probably, adding the user campaigns will be available in the patch. [ May 21, 2007, 09:08 PM: Message edited by: dmg ]
