  1. Unfortunately, currently ToW does not support the feature to automatically search ToW active game servers in the Internet. So you'll have to search it manually (e.g. by getting in touch with other players in this forum). If you want to play via Internet you need to know the IP address of the player who has tow's game server on. You need to input this very IP address in the field (e.g. 12.3.4.12:22345, if 12.3.4.12 - is the ip port of the game server; The postfix ":22345" is the port of the ToW server). Or you need to create your own game server and tell the other players your ip address and wait for them to join. In this case make sure you have the external ip address on your computer (open towsetup tool, expand combobox IPAddress, if there is an ip-address not being the localhost and not starting with 127.x.x.x, 0.0.0.0, 192.168.x.x., 10.x.x.x, 127.16.x.x-172.31.x.x you can create an Internet game server, otherwise you may create the game server inside the local network only or connect to the other servers. Also see Multiplayer Configuration Readme.rtf for details)
  2. Run the game as administrator (see Properties item in the popup menu of the application icon).
  3. 1. Make sure you have the latest drivers for you video card. 2. Try to switch off EAX or the sound in the towsetup tool and run the game.
  4. Currently you can't. This feature will most likely be added in the next version of the map editor (in the addon).
  5. Kusiv, please, describe your problem in full detail. Could you translate the bug description into English? "Eli peli ei käynnisty..." I don't understand the message.
  6. >I asm buying a new machine with vista. Does this >game run well with vista. The game should work with Vista, but currently there are 2 problems known: 1. The mission editor does not work under vista 64 (though it must work under vista 32). 2. The game might not work with mobile radeon ATI video card under vista (these video cards might be in the notebooks). When you install the game under Vista, run it as administrator (see Run as Administrator option in the Theatre of War application properties, that you may open by right clicking on the icon and choosing Properties menu item). Also download the latest drivers for your video card from its manufacturer website and install them.
  7. Try to switch off EAX in sound options.
  8. Polish version of ToW does not support Vista officially ( see system requirements at http://www.cenega.pl/gra_opis.php?ID=3693 ), it means that the game may work on this operating system or may not work. So Run the game on Windows XP. I think that in your case the problem is in mobility radeon drivers. Unfortunately, ATI does not support the drivers for mobility radeon directly and those that the manufacturer provide may not be up-to-date and work correctly with the game. Probably you should try to download the newer driver from your notebook manufactorer website or wait for some time till the updated driver for VISTA is issued. Nevertheless, please, pack your log.lst and cppcrash directory if it exists (in Theatre of War's directory) into archive and send it to me (to gavd@1c.ru) [ July 25, 2007, 09:39 PM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  9. BerreT, what is your system configuration? First of all, try the tips at http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html
  10. I put my answer here http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=63;t=001501
  11. Please, check the following: 1. Both your firewall and the firewall of your friend must allow the ToW's udp traffic. Open towsetup tool and make sure all the server public and private udp-ports and the client udp port chosen are enabled in your firewall and the firewall of your friend. 2. If you play the Internet game, the player's computer, that creates the game server, must have an external IP address (that never starts with 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 128.x.x.x and 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x). Open towsetup tool, select Multiplayer tab and expand the IP address combo box. If you see any item in the list not starting with the prefixes written above and not being 'localhost', then you may create Internet game server, othewise you may connect to an existing one or play LAN games. 3. Also read Multiplayer Configuration Readme file and try the hints written there. If nothing helps, describe in full detail, how you tried to connect. Did you try to connect using the Internet menu or using LAN? Was your friend in the same LAN or in the Internet? [ July 15, 2007, 09:03 PM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  12. Gcoat, go to advanced video driver settings, and try to turn a 'threading optimizations' option OFF. Then run the game with Use only One CPU turned OFF once again. [ July 15, 2007, 09:01 PM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  13. When does this crash happen? During the play or when trying to quit? If the crash appears when closing the application, try to make lower water quality video settings or try to run tow_1.4.exe instead of the tow.exe.
  14. Transparent icons above the enemy indicate that the seleced player's unit cannot directly see the enemy (that is line of sight). Though when you order a tank to attack it checks the line of fire of all its guns, which sometimes might differ from the line of sight. There are two issues that may affect the line of fire. The first one is obstacles between the tank's gun and the target. The second one is the gun's attack angle. The tank cannot turn down its gun below the defined minimum angle, so tanks that are on the hills become more vulnerable than those that are in the holes. More about LOS and LOF TOW's features you may get to know from here: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=67;t=000011 [ July 11, 2007, 06:26 AM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  15. Just press Pause button and wait for some time till the game's hang stops. Does this hang always happen when you leave the game for 20..30 min alone? Does it happen when you play the same mission or independently of the mission? When you press the backspace for the first time, it increases the speed of the game, when you press it again, it decreases its speed, and the third press rolls the time speed back to its normal state. So there is no need to press the backspace if it has not been pressed before. Use Pause hotkey (spacebar) to stop the hang instead.
  16. Did you adjust the game speed (I mean using the hotkey that speeds up the game) when the game hung? Try to set lower video settings or not to use this button. Judging by your log, the game engine sometimes does not have enough time to work and hangs. To discontinue this hang you might try to press Adjust Game Speed hotkey (usually Backspace) once again or "Pause" hotkey (usually Spacebar). This should slow down the game speed and the game will go back to its normal work.
  17. Try to open towsetup tool and change the speed of the server's transfer rate (see "Server speed" text box item in the multiplayer tab).
  18. If you haven't run the game after that case, can you post me log.lst file (to gavd@1c.ru)?
  19. Please, describe in full details and step by step what you had tried to do and at what stage you got stuck. When did the clients fail? When connecting to the server's lobby or when loading the mission?
  20. - Try to call DamageObject several times for the same group, putting Delay() between these calls. - Try to choose "less armoured" units for the damaged group.
  21. Make sure you have the latest ati video drivers for Vista. See http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/vista32/common-vista32.html for vista32 and http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/vista64/common-vista64.html for vista64
  22. Try to run the game in the window mode. See http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=66;t=000099;p=0 for details. You should set the video resolution of the game so that it is smaller than the desktop's resolution to run the game properly.
  23. Do you mean sound.log? Everything is ok samples/Error_empty.wav is a stub file for our internal purposes, it was not included in the release.
  24. >When I went to settings in the Map Editor >program, I selected windowed mode Make sure the builder's video resolution in window mode is smaller than the desktop's one. E.g. if your desktop works at 1024x768, choose 800x600 for the builder in the window mode. [ July 02, 2007, 12:01 AM: Message edited by: dmg ]
