  1. 1. Show your mp.ini file (that is in users\mp.ini) 2. If all of your computer ip addresses start with 192.168.x.x, 10.0.x.x or 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x you cannot host Internet game but can connect to already created game of your opponent (though you may host games within the same LAN). To get to know your ip address type ipconfig command in the command line and look at the results. 3. Check the same for your opponent. Does he use firewall? Had he already started the game mission when you connected to it? 4. Check your firewall settings Describe step by step how you tryied to create a network game, to connect to it and what the errors were thrown.
  2. To help you, we need more info: 1. Show your mp.ini file (that is in users\mp.ini) 2. What are the first 2 digits of your computer ip addresses? Do they all start with 192.168.x.x, 10.0.x.x or 172.16.x.x - 172.31.x.x? If you don't know how to learn ip address, type 'ipconfig' in command line and email me its report to dimaga@mail.ru 3. Do you try to host a game or just to connect to your opponent? What are the first 2 digits of your opponent's ip address? Show me his mp.ini file. 4. Is your opponent in the same LAN or in the Internet? 5. Describe step by step how you tryied to create a network game, to connect to it and what the errors were thrown. I'm not acquainted with Norton Security. Can it work as firewall and filter ip-traffic? If yes, did you properly enable all udp-ports that you had chosen in mp.ini (towsetup.exe)? Did your network opponent enable his upd-ports in firewall too? [ April 28, 2007, 02:06 AM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  3. Kharnvor, what mission did you play and in what campaign? Is this a mod?
  4. Do you have any problems with intro movie? Do you see it after launching the game?
  5. 1. What does MissionEditor tell you when launching? If it asks for the latest version of DirectX 9, then download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en and install 2. Tell me more about your computer and operating system. What is your OS (and what service pack is installed on it)/video card/RAM and CPU? Do you try to run ToW as admin or as an ordinary user (guest)? What is the driver version of your video card? 3. Did you successfully register your copy by eLicense after the first launch of the ToW or the registration dialog box never appeared? 4. Also I advise you to look through http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html (I'm sorry, I misprinted the link in the previous message). 5. Did you try to run demo version? How did it work? [ April 27, 2007, 09:19 PM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  6. Check an option HIDE BODIES in video settings. If it is reset, set it.
  7. You may change them in the map editor tool (not in the MissionEditor). The map editor will be issued later... soon ...
  8. Try to copy (not to MOVE but COPY) msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll from the game directory into MissionEditor directory.

  11. 1. To add a unit from reserves to deployment in unit setup screen you need to have free points and slots enough. To add some free points put units from deployment back to reserves. To free slots for a selected unit in the reserves, put units that are marked by a smal red triangle from deployment back to reserves. The number of free points depends on the mission and is fixed. 2. Captured units can be used only in the mission where they were captured. Captured units may be used properly only by experienced soldiers (that have high driver or gunner skills, for example). You cannot use captured units in the next missions. But the crew of these units is still available.
  12. Do you try to edit mission briefing or campaign briefing? Mission briefing consists of several submissions. Each submission may have one of four different states: HIDDEN, ACTIVE, WIN and FAIL. If submission is HIDDEN it will not appear till the trigger switches it on (see QuestActivate procedure). If it is ACTIVE it will be shown at the begginning of the mission. Can you show your briefing.xml, campaign.xml and *.mat files? Send me them to dimaga@mail.ru, if it is possible, please [ April 26, 2007, 07:47 AM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  13. First, check, where you placed your *.mat and *.tga files. For campaign briefings they must be places into campaign directory (for example, Missions\GERMANY). For mission briefings they must be placed into mission directory (for example, Missions\GERMANY\G001_Mokra). Second, make sure the reference to *.tga in *.mat file is correct. An unfortunate misprint may not allow to load this file correctly and the white wrectangle will be drawn instead. Third, *.tga file for mission briefing must have 512x512x24bpp format. *.tga file for campaign briefing must have 1024x512x24bpp format. And don't forget to save your campaign list after editing the briefing attributes in the campaign editor (see an item File->Save in the main menu). 14. Open towsetup.exe or video settings inside a game and choose resolution with 100 Hz refresh rate.
  15. Have you read Multiplayer Configuration Readme for Threatre of War?
  16. Each time the editor launches it creates log file MissionEditor/Settings/editorlog.txt. Can you show the file content after the crash?
  17. 1) *.mat images are simple text files that are edited manually in the notepad. They do not contain images but a reference to *.tga file and additional attributes. Open any existing *.mat file and everything should become clear. 2) Currently there is no way to unattach a unit by script. [ April 26, 2007, 03:50 AM: Message edited by: SIO ]
  18. Also, try to run towsetup.exe. Does it show any mistakes when launched? Most probably it is eLicense problem (see http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html , "I launch the game but NOTHING happens AND I never get to the eLicense panel to enter my license code OR game won't launch and Mission Editor reports a "Wrong game version" error" for details) [ April 27, 2007, 08:46 PM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  19. Also when started MissionEditor creates log file MissionEditor\settings\editorlog.txt. Can you show what it wrote there?
  20. Do you have any problems with MissionEditor? Can you launch it?
  21. First, make sure you use Windows Vista 32 (We do not currently support Mission Editor for Vista64, see https://www.combatmission2.com/tow_order.html ). Second, download and install the latest version of DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft Web site (even if you installed DirectX 10 it doesn't mean that DirectX 9.0c will work correctly): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en Also, please check http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/troubleshooting.html for additional information. 22. Bad, send me your e-mail to dimaga@mail.ru, please. [ April 25, 2007, 04:29 AM: Message edited by: dmg ]
  23. And what processor and drivers version for your video card?
  24. BAD, Could you describe your problems in detail? What kind of OS system/RAM/Video memory and CPU do you have? When and how does the game fail?
  25. What is a path to your mission editor directory (Editor.exe)? What is a path to your game directory (tow.exe)? Does the game work ok? What version of a game do you use? (see a right top corner of the game menu window)
