  1. I lost some very close friends in a catastrophic kill on one of our Bradleys. After that happened I took a break from CM:SF. I have found gaming to be very therapeutic, it puts me in another place for a few hours. It gets my mind off of all of the crap we have to do over here. That and it feels more constructive than spending all my free time in laying my rack watching movies. So is this thing gonna veer back on topic anytime soon?
  2. This is a great idea! I would pay for something like this. Now we need 4 BDE, 3ID...
  3. +1 The fact that they can do that without fear of us frog stomping them is pretty cool. I hope they enjoy the freedom while it lasts.
  4. As much as I want to try CMSF online, my connection here isn't the best, it can hardly handle email, much less gaming. Thanks for the invite though.
  5. After looking at the small arms renders of the Brits in BF I can't help but wonder if this could mean we may get an update to the SBCT infantry models and weapons. The SAW. The L110A1 and the M249 are essentially one in the same. I am on my second tour ( six days left!!! ) in Iraq and I have yet to see an infantry SAW gunner outfitted with a long barreled, non-collapsing butt stock. They only people I have seen over here with the older style SAW are the fobbits. The only time I've had my SAW gunners mount their long barrels is when we mount them in the turret and that has happened twice in the past 15 months. IMO it would be awesome to see the M249 model updated to look like what we are currently using. The M4. It's an M4 not an M4A1. The only people sporting an M4A1 are SF and the Rangers, and by Rangers I mean the guys assigned to 75th Ranger Regt, not the regular guys who went to the school, got the tab and returned to their home unit. The rest of us regular Army types have the M4. I know it's nitpicking but whatever. On that note, the L85A2 New has a Tac light and a Grip pod (integrated bi-pod and forward gantsta grip). The grip pod is everywhere, I'm not exaggerating when I say that in Iraq, In the US Army, everyone and their mother has one. Ok. Maybe I exaggerated a little, but seriously, those things are everywhere. It would be cool to see the M4 model updated to reflect this. The Soldiers. For the love of God, please do not add sunglasses to the US Soldier models. Yeah, we are required to wear ballistic eye protection, but honestly, it looks goofy as hell in night scenarios. I would like to see the IBA modeled into an IOTV and I think the pro-mask carrier has got to go. This is just my $0.02, take it for what its worth. Or don't. Other than that, I am loving this game. It has burned up many of my free hours this deployment and has helped me 'decompress' between patrols. You guys at BFC have really put a lot of hard work into this and I would like to say thank you. You guys rock!
  6. Man. That is one hell of a scenario. It was like Sadr city with Jaish al Mahdi coming out of the woodwork. All I can say is: re-consolidate, reorganize and prep for counter attack.
  7. I really hope they use that model to update the US M249. The only people still rocking the long barrel and non-collapsing butt stock are the Fobbits.
  8. The PRR is an easy fix. That is a PRR right?
  9. That is very accurate. The infantry is a very physically demanding environment. When you arrive at your unit it is going to be an uphill battle for you to prove yourself. You are going to have to fight to get into and stay in a line PLT. It can be done, but it is going to be difficult, and once you get overseas it is only going to get harder. Deployments are physically and mentally draining. Just remember why you are there and never quit. Good luck, what you are doing is very honorable. One other thing. I know 4ht BDE, 3ID is going light once we get back stateside. Our next rotation is scheduled to be in A-stan. From what I understand, most divisions are picking up an extra BDE so that at any time they may have a BDE in Iraq and a BDE in A-stan. Keep that in mind if you get to pick your duty station. Just because you opt for 101st, 82d or 10th Mountain doesn't mean you will be locked into the stan. Once you get to the replacement detachment at your duty station you should be able to find out which BDEs are going where and when. Then it is just a matter of going to the BDE you want and getting the CSM to to get you assigned to his BDE. Good Luck!
  10. I'm with A Co, 4-64 AR. I've been with them for a little over four years and I'm on my second OIF deployment. That's me with the INP.
  11. Thanks, I'm glad you guys like them. If you see anything that could be done better, or any bugs let me know. I know the M249 is kinda screwy at the moment, I was having a hell of a time editing the Alpha channel to anything other than a square or a rectangle.
  12. Nice! You gotta love the alpha channels.
  13. Wow that one in the middle looks familiar There are some pretty good shots of INP in my OIF 07-09 album If you need higher res let me know, I can email them to you. There are tiny Iraqi flags in their digi cam, it would be cool if you could work those in.
  14. Well, that and a GUI mod. All textures are modified stock BFC textures, I just photo shopped them. This mod includes: -“dirty” US uniforms -no more protective mask carriers (alpha channel edit) -Nomex uniforms for crews and dismounts (dismount uniforms are randomized) -IR Flags and IR tabs on ACH and ACU top -3ID insignia on ACH and ACUs -randomized IBA with and without “nut flap” (alpha channel edit) -Updated MOLLE gear, with corrected canteen cover, IFAK, magazine pouches, Tactical Tailor frag pouches and Tactical Tailor hydration carrier. ( I plan on doing a TT MAV next). -Muddy boots with correct soles. -Randomized Nomex gloves for dismounts. -“Dusty” weapons with new firing sounds captured from video that I have filmed “in country” -I switched out the small arms muzzle flash with another BFC texture to give it a better effect -I adjusted the M249 texture and edited the alpha channel so that the weapon has the shorter "para" barrel. It's not perfect, but I'm still learning to edit the channels. I plan on doing more over time. All textures are modified stock BFC textures, I just photo shopped them. This mod includes: -updated “floating icons” to reflect NATO symbols from an FBCB2 -Added bloody texture to ‘yellow’ weapons -added scan lines to all buttons, weapons and Soldier specialties -Dirtied up the GUI Available at CMMODS. 15. I've been seeing those in-country, it would be sweet if they made it into the next module!
  16. Welcome to the forum. I'm with A co in Baghdad. It's nice to see another Tusker!
  17. http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=45610 and there it is... v1.03 Patch Features * LOS/LOF issues improved around areas like walls, buildings, and earthen berms. * Fixed a bug that caused orders given in the setup phase to be ignored in Play-By-Email games. * Vehicle pathfinding improved. It is important to note, however, that the slower speed commands will yield better results in more restricted terrain. * Infantry no longer tends to wander into buildings except when specifically ordered to. * Improved terrain graphics (the degree of improvement depends on your Texture Quality option, but note that the higher quality options run more slowly). * ATI left-click compatibility option is now available for nVidia users as well. A few people reported problems with SLI configured video cards and selecting this option may help. If you have not had problems with selecting units with nVidia cards, then leave this option OFF. * Better unit placement in Quick Battles. * A new "Show All Move Paths" key added to the Hotkeys Menu. * Fixes to the "stuck soldier" problem. * Fixes to the "stuck unit" problem. * By default, infantry moving "Slow" (i.e. crawling) do not stand up and run to their destinations after halting for any reason. * "Adjust Artillery Mission" function is fixed, along with other minor artillery bugs. * Gunners are less likely to use high-explosive rather than armor-piercing ammo against armored targets. * Improved anti-tank missile accuracy, especially with the Javelin ATGM. * Clicking on enemy soldiers that were not previous spotted are no longer shown. * Very slight downward adjustment to M1 Abrams tank front armor strength. * Javelin missile armor penetration increased modestly. * Speed of the autoloaders on the T-72 and the Stryker MGS are reduced. * Soldiers do a better job staying prone when under fire in the open. * TacAI is more likely to fire on prone infantry. * Computer player is less likely to use slow/crawling movement with its troops. * Syrian troops (except forward observers) cannot call in artillery. * Blast movement now works properly. * Fixed a bug where a soldier sometimes uses a Blue Force specialty icon in the UI when it should be Red, or vice-versa. * Improved seated poses for certain crewmen of M1 MBT, pickup trucks, taxis. * MMGs rarely, if ever, fire single-round bursts. * Clicking on an enemy's C2 display no longer switches to its HQ unit. * Fixed "choppy" sound from vehicles when turning.
  18. I saw that once, but it was the PL. I haven't seen the dismount SQDs do that.
  19. Dude, I was talking to dorosh, for a bunch of guys preaching about maturity you sure are showing your collective ass's. Let it go already.
  20. Word. Well, good luck and keep y'alls heads down.
  21. Good pics. So, are we red in the IZ now? Stay safe.
  22. I am feeling old. I have t-shirts older than that kid. Regards, Feltan </font>
