  1. Thats why they call it the UBER patch, now all your enemies are Uber
  2. Tried again - got a bit further this time Took out the whole of the first objective (recon the camp)just with the sniper - not a very likely scenario in real life . Then moved over to the second objective AA positions and called in arty/aircraft - all went fine, all AA destroyed. But then a screen comes up telling me reinforcements have arrived and they head straight for my hidden team even though they could not possibly know where they are from the other side of the map (they have not been spotted). They gun down the commandos then go straight for my sniper, who is prone and in a hidden location which they could not have known about in advance, and kill him too  Playing AI with superhuman capabilities is just not proving to be much fun here
  3. Clean re-install of ToW with the new uber patch added. I try out the new singleplayer covert mission and move my sniper to a position on a hill overlooking one of the road blocks with a half track and guards. I figure I will have a little fun taking out the half track gunner from behind and maybe one or two of the others before moving toa new covered position. Knowing that the sniper rifle has a range of 2000 metres with accuracy up to 800 metres I put the sniper well within the accurate hit range - just a couple of hundred metres or less - and tell him to target the half track gunner. The sniper does nothing despite having a clear line of sight/line of fire downhill onto the half track and prone/kneeling or standing stances have no effect. In fact rather then shooting downhill from low grass cover the sniper decides he needs to smell the exhaust smoke before he will even consider shooting and moves to within 10 metres or less - which of course gets him shot, whether he is prone/kneeling/standing and in cover and with a clear line of sight/fire. Even stranger than this the half track that shot the sniper then proceeds to head across the map to the exact hidden position of the rest of my commando team, for which he had no line of sight (hill in the way) and could not possibly know the location (they were not seen by any other enemy troops), and shoots the rest of my team, who are so dumb they don't even try to defend themselves or run away  This is just totally bizarre  - whats going on ?? I was playing on medium difficulty. If the rest of the game is this crazy I can see it coming off the hard drive pretty quick
  4. Yay - got it at last from Gamershell - took 2 hours 26 mins at 150 kb/s. I reckon I can get in a couple of hours of gameplay before hitting the sack ready for work tomorrow. Cheers Battlefront
  5. Looking forward to having my mind blown at around...errr....10.15pm judging by my 3 hour download at 90kb/s
  6. Did you forget to press the Upload button Matt ??
  7. Stunner of a movie there DeLaVega. I recognised sound files from B-17 The Mighty 8th and footage from IL-2 in there as well as ToW stuff, very well made and some fun moments too.
  8. Kilo, what are you doing round these parts? You need to get back to fixing Pacific Storm Allies (If you are the same KiloAlpha4 that is ? ) Great job on the patch everyone!
  9. also known as ....Completely over Hyped
  10. What I would be interested to know is exactly how many people beat it and what tactics (other than duck for cover in a trench and get slaughtered) they used. I suspect most people just bypassed this dog of a mission after the 12th go and moved on.
  11. I wonder how many people BF have lost orders from because of the frustration caused by the defensice tactics demo training mission ? What an incredibly poor choice of botched mission making that was
  12. Another IL-2 flyer who pre-ordered here. I suspect there are quite a few of us.
  13. It just tells you you cannot download till release date if you happen to click it
  14. Pre-ordered !! Thanks for the early download offer, nice incentive to pre-order
  15. Thats one preorder from me then Great news on the release - Congrats!
  16. F2 takes you to the gunners position and F3 takes you to the Mg position. You can tell the driver which direction to drive with the 1-5 keys if you are not in the driver position, or with the arrow keys if you are the driver. Full key controls are in the readme file which can be found in Open/Docs
  17. I asked them about the controls on the Graviteam (Ukrainian developer)Forums and they said all controls will be fully assignable to whatever key mapping you like in the full game. I agree that they are difficult to use in the demo.
  18. And as they do not currently have a western publisher I wonder if Battlefront would be interested in distributing this game ??
  19. Sorry about that Malcolm X - I am a bastard
  20. I'm not a fan of this game (its only an alpha demo after all) or from another game company. I just thought fellow WWII armour gamers might be interested thats all Just because I don't post here often does not mean that I am any the less interested in TOW, or any other Battlefront game, as the rest of you. If somebody wants to remove this thread because it offends them terribly thats fair enough.
  21. OT, but related to all of our interests here in WWII armour PC gaming. For anyone wishing to drive and gun a T-34 at Kharkov this is your chance The Alpha, yes I said ALPHA, Demo is now out and can be downloaded at Steel Fury Demo Download Filefront download link Filefront Demo Download To install you only need to extract the archive in Part 1 then go to the Open folder and double click Starter. That will automatically unpack and install the demo. Note that changing the texture quality to High instead of the default Compressed in the Options screen causes a crash to desktop and you will need to install the demo again if this happens. No screen antialiasing enabled in the demo, which might make the graphics look a bit ugly, but even so the development is looking good on this one. Plenty of interior detail, manual gunnery and sighting, manual driving all available in the demo. For more info. and demo screens see the threads at SimHQ Turret Talk and Steel Beasts Forum [ January 20, 2007, 08:14 AM: Message edited by: Tankbuster ]
  22. Not sure if this one has been posted up here before, but I saw this link on another forum to footage taken at the Games Convention. It shows Polish v German, British v German and French v German gameplay. The viewer asks the developers questions about the gameplay throughout the second half of the footage. The constant in-game zooming may make you feel a bit nauseous Youtube link
  23. Great: 1. IL-2 Sturmovik (WWII combat flight simulator) 2. Shogun Total War 3. Rome Total War 4. Rush for Berlin 5. Take Command 2nd Manassas Stinkers: 1. Castle Strike 2. Wings of Honour 3. Heroes of the Pacific Cannot think of any more............
  24. The advertisement is an attention grabber and that is what any gaming company has to do to get sales. Provided I had played the demo and enjoyed the gameplay therein I would buy ToW no matter what image of warfare they decided to stick on the box cover. I quite like the sense of movement and drama the falling bombs give to the image. With a huge tank at the top and smaller images of tank and infantry warfare to the side I think it gives a good rounded impression of what can be expected from the game ie. the infantry, vehicle and aerial warfare you would expect in any Theatre of War.
