  1. A couple of months back it was mentioned on the forums that there would be an expansion including 20 new maps and one new tank to play with. What is the current status of this expansion and will it still include the above, or even some more goodies ??
  2. Firing the MG yourself rather than letting the AI do it helps to conserve the ammo as the AI tends to spray all over the place. Use very short bursts and keep correcting for wide shots all the time. I usually get through a mission on the ammo we are given and manage to kill 80% of the infantry with the MG, the rest with fragmentation shells.
  3. Felix - As you have done before, clear the road ahead first with your tank (leave the convoy in the village with no orders for the time being). Once the road ahead is clear go into the map (F11) click on the vertical column formation, then click on the button for "Move Along Road" which looks like a road with some broken white lines down the middle, then click on the Movement button and then left click on the map at the crossroads to place the yellow flag there. Exit the map and move your tank ahead of the crossroads. The column will start to follow you along the road after a short delay. You can check their progress on the map. The big problem for the column on this map seems to be the dam. Although you can easily cross the dam, even though there is a stone projecting out of the surface on the right hand side, the column seems to think it cannot get past that stone. The column will always veer alarmingly off the dam and into the lake to get across to the track which leads to the Finish. Sometimes they do this successfully, sometimes they just flood their engines and come to a stop. I haven't found a way yet to get them across the dam rather than trying to cross the lake.
  4. Yup, all vehicles made it to the finish. I got the Objective Complete message which flashed up on the screen, but the Victory message would not appear and I could not bring up the statistics for the mission. The AI vehicle waymarking in this mission is crazy. Even if you tell the vehicles you are escorting to follow the roads all of them drive off the side of the dam and try to ford the lake to get back on to the road, even though the dam is perfectly crossable The trick to this mission is to move ahead cautiously with your tank only, leaving the convoy in the village until you have wiped out all enemy on the village side of the dam. Then bring up the convoy on the roads behind you and move on ahead to deal with the RPG guys on the far side of the dam - that way the convoy has a clear run to the Finish. I will try once more, but if I just get the Objective Complete message again I will consider the mission finished.
  5. While dashing to the right in your tank also order the MG car and troops over to the right to intercept the fleeing enemy. That way you will have less to do with the tank MG. Don't let anyone escape to the far wooded hillside that they are running to - good luck!
  6. OK I have played this one through three times now, successfully the last two times, but the Victory message will not come up. I have circled the Finish point numerous times to try and trigger the Victory, but the mission just will not end - even if I go beyond the Finish point. Anyone else had this problem and know what to do to get the Victory?? All enemy units are dead by the way so that is not what is holding back the Victory.
  7. Thanks! I'm really enjoying the little details - I mean who else would go to the trouble of filling fields with nodding sunflowers and gardens with moving veg! I just saw an APC get hit and burn and the guys inside spilled out the back all on fire - horrific, but amazing detail. When troops get hit by shells they go spiralling into the air with a scream, the tanks crews swearing when hit, the fact that my tank can get blown into the air and land in a crater with the crew partially intact (we still kept firing! ). I could go on, but I am starting to sound like a regular fanboy
  8. Just had to let the devs and guys at Battlefront have some appreciation for producing this excellent sim. The game arrived in just four days from a distribution centre in Ireland to the UK. Installed fine and plays very well with all graphics set on highest at a res of 1024x768. I played the demo to death and have just finished the single player missions (must download the new ones) to get some training for the campaign. Once I figured out I had to turn the joystick off in Config to get the mouse to work right my single problem with the game setup vanished. The manual is well produced and gives a decent intro. to the basics, but a few more explanatory pics and text on the various gun sights, range finding and manual gunnery would have been useful. The Tank Commander and Driver positions at the moment feel almost like a cheat if you set the gunner to scan and open fire. All you have to do is point the tank at the enemy and the gunner does the rest, and usually fairly accurately too! Tank movement, sounds and damage all look and sound very good - this is way ahead of anything else out there in tank sim world, but then that would not be difficult as there are so few true tank sims around. I love the environment too, plenty of buildings, animals, trees, grass and sounds which all add to the atmosphere. I think I am going to be happy with this one for a long while
  9. Having various Corgi/Dinky WWII tank models as a kid first captured my interest. I particularly liked the more exotic camouflage patterns on the German tanks and the fact that they just looked plain meaner than the more rounded US and UK tanks. The names of German tanks are much better too, I mean, which would you choose, a Tiger or a Matilda
  10. Oh well, whatever the shell was it felt bloody good hitting him. I took his range twice as he moved and plugged him immediately after taking the second range reading - worked a treat
  11. Hi all Just playing through the demo and now I have the gunnery sorted (thanks to some tutorials on this forum) I am really enjoying this sim and have just ordered the full game. In the demo target practice I ran out of missiles and thought I was going to fail the objective, but out of desperation I switched to the next nearest shell type (BKS/HEAT) loaded up and aimed from the TC position. To my amazement and surprise I hit the thing first time and it went down  Would this normally have been possible on a moving aerial target with HEAT ??
